I had no idea that there were so many people that loved Volvos until I met a guy who restored them for a passion and partially a living too. I was shocked had some beautiful cars though.

Well how will start if gas isn't good for 30 years did you know gas goes bad ! And is an amazing car they wasn't the prettiest but the strongest a great performance

And fuel system, bigger pump, injectors, an entire aftermarket computer to run it because nobody is going to tune an obd1 computer. Then a transmission that wont immediately become 4 neutrals. Explorer 8.8 would probably last longer than welded diff.....and at that point you could have spent the money on something better.
If a fuel injection car sits with old gas in it for a year or so , It usually gums up the fuel pump . Thats why the old cars with mechanical fuel pumps are easier to get started after sitting for years .

Maybe if you spend 10k on diffrent engine management, bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump that will keep up, exhaust, aftermarket pistons, then it needs an explorer 8.8 rear end, a transmission that will actually withstand more than 190 ft lbs. And then it still drives like a fat wallowing marshmallow.
@ryurc3033 you might not believe it but couple of minor things and they will smoke both tires off the line. Embarrassed many 5.0 mustangs back in the day. Mabey, nothing compared to nowadays where even grandmas hyunda has 300hp but in the 90's(there time) they definitely were not slow even stock.

They don't go around corners worth a crap, and the second you put more boost to it, it becomes unreliable. Nobody is messing with Early fuel injection systems these days, so it can't be tuned for the extra boost anymore. Don't care what it was back in the day. Today that's a turd sandwich with extra cheesey discharge.
Honestly, it's transportation, so who really cares what it is? It probably won't take much to get it running, and it's not like it's a deathtrap. It's a Volvo, which used to be some of the world's safest vehicles.

I have four Volvo's from 1987 to 2020 no rust on any of them. VOLVO learned decades ago, how to prep and coat their body panels to prevent rust.
