I seriously think that Derek has one of the best voices in pop punk, hands down. It's incredibly rare that he'll sound off key, and that consistency just makes them so great live. I remember seeing them with TWY and just being in awe of clean the entire band was.
It's so so encouraging to see a pop punk band that can bring it live. Even the vocal harmonies are crazy tight. Neck Deep could take some lessons from these dudes (mostly Ben on the pitch :/ )
state champs are genuinely my favorite band i am too emotionally invested into them i am so passionate about them and their music and every single one of them are SO sincerely nice and talented and their music makes me so incredibly happy and this video IS LITERALLY i think my fav live video of them as of now, unless you've got one of elevated, critical, or easy enough ;D I wish it was at the venue i saw them at!! It was my 9th time seeing them. Just a couple days after this in Santa Ana, CA at the Observatory, but either way, i love your vids, i can relive the experience and it's amazing how well you guys capture it
Hey I'm seeing State Champs live for the first time. They are headlining and since you've been to 8 of their concerts, I wanted to ask some questions. How many songs does the headliner play? How many songs does the opener play? How many songs do the other bands play? Approximate of course. And thanks if you can answer
Hey, that's awesome! I'm going to be seeing them again soon too, it will be #13! Generally, the first few bands (obviously) won't play as many songs as the headliner. Much fewer, actually. If i had to average it out, i'd say the opening acts get anywhere from 6-9 songs. Since there's 3 bands playing before State Champs on this tour (Im assuming youre going to the same one I am, with Against the Current, With Confidence, and Don Bronco) they'll each probably get like 7 songs. ATC might get a couple more. The last time I saw SC headline, they played 15 songs, which is more than likely how many they'll play this time. Hope that helps, have fun, they're amazing live!
+kaze Yeah I'm going to the same one. That's awesome. Thanks dude. One more thing. What songs do State Champs usually play? Is it similar to this set? Do they always play all their hits?
The setlist from the last time i saw them was: eyes closed secrets simple existence perfect score nothings wrong all you are is history hard to please easy enough if im lucky critical losing myself remedy all or nothing elevated generally those are the most played songs. sometimes Deadly Conversation gets added in or i heard Breaking Ground once. But that's probably a good idea of what youll hear!
I swear dude when I first heard this song I was like dude green day would write this, i cant wait to see what state champs is gonna do to the punk rock genre
been listening to them since this summer and this is the first time I see a live performance. had no idea Derek was so good live.pop punk is in my opinion a genre that sets high vocal standards on records.but this is beautiful.neck deep and the story so far are my fav pop punk bands and I got really excited when I discovered state champs but dude this is amazing.

Mainly cause the lead guitarist is not playing (i thinks its harmonics) lead riff at the second part of the chorus. Other than that some minor but noticeable mistakes here and there.
+Zachary Lange Usually happens to bands who are not used to live recordings. State Champs doesn't have much taped live footage so it's a whole new thing to get used to.
+Giancarlo Salazar I honestly don't know this so I really hope you can tell me. But how would them being recorded affect their sound live? They sound completely off here especially the end of the first verse.
+Zachary Lange I hear Tyler get a little sloppy with his leads in the first verse and going into the 2nd verse but that's about it. If you've seen them live before and they were phenomenal then that should prove to you that literally every single band in the world isn't perfect and has their off days

@Stratos Fear disagree
he sounds just like the cd lol that's awesome.
Seen them twice, they never disappoint. Masters of their craft. Definitely have to see them again.
They actually bring the heat live. That's cool. Now that their new record has given them more good songs besides this one, may have to catch them.
Pop punk at its finest, how can you hate these guys?
Holy shit they are so good live!! damn!
Wow, State Champs are incredible live!

oh god 02:03 im....
hahaha such a badass move
the part when he screams "go" somewhere around 2:10 is fucking insane
That's Ryan doing the backup vocals, he's just as awesome as Derek!!! 💙✨
Anyone noticed the 5sos shirt :)
Do the guitars sound kinda off to anyone else or is it just me ?
+Max A bit sloppy, but it's pop punk so energy/movement > playing perfectly.
Mainly cause the lead guitarist is not playing (i thinks its harmonics) lead riff at the second part of the chorus. Other than that some minor but noticeable mistakes here and there.
Yea and its out of tune... but hey its LIVEEE!
Does anyone know the song from the intro? Or, more specifically, whether it is a real existing song, or just a part for the intro? :D Thanks.
Rhcp - around the world
1:14, they are human. Yeah. :D
Holy shit the guitars are way off. Off night, seen these guys three times and have always been nearly perfect.
They sound completely off here especially the end of the first verse.
do you mean theyre playing bad or there rig isnt right? because they messed up like twice but other than that they are fine
+Alex G there were many notable mistakes to me, and it's also just not sounding right...idk
+Zachary Lange I hear Tyler get a little sloppy with his leads in the first verse and going into the 2nd verse but that's about it. If you've seen them live before and they were phenomenal then that should prove to you that literally every single band in the world isn't perfect and has their off days
I've never seen Evan without facial hair.... it's weird.
How to you mess up your guitar parts when your playing a pop punk song 😂😂
