Pratyakṣa (प्रत्यक्ष, “direct sense perception”).-The first of the five stages of Vedic knowledge, considered as a subordinate, not self-evident, proof of knowledge. प्रत्यक्षं चानुमानं च शास्त्रं च विविधागमम् । त्रयं सुविदितं कार्यं धर्मशुद्धिमभीप्सता (pratyakṣaṃ cānumānaṃ ca śāstraṃ ca vividhāgamam | trayaṃ suviditaṃ kāryaṃ dharmaśuddhimabhīpsatā) || Ms.12.15. Śabdabrahma (शब्दब्रह्म) refers to “(1) Imports of Vedic scripture (2) Sound incarnation of the Absolute Truth”.
