Flatcoated retrievers are the best dogs for me and my family. We own flatcoats for 20 years now and we have always two in and around the farm. They hunt, they guard but best of all they are the most lovable companions you can imagine. Greeting from Germany
If people went to watch the famous dog competition Crufts in Birmingham you would see almost 400 flat coat retrievers on show. Their beautiful black or liver shiny coats makes them stand out. They are the most lovable friendly intelligent dog you can get.
I love my flat coated retriever Lexi so much. She is the sweetest dog, very obedient, gentle, and protective. Just an incredible dog. Everybody loves her.
Adopting my new soon to be best buddy max here in a few days once my application gets approved. The shelter said he’s a black lab mix but from looking at him in person and seeing the flat coats I’m 95% positive he’s a flat coat. Can’t wait to get him home!
My girl, Haven, is a mix of Flat-Coated Retriever, border collie, and Australian shepherd and it's pretty interesting how the different personalities show up in her, but her clown side is definitely the Flat-Coated Retriever. She was a shelter dog that I adopted three years ago and I have no regrets, she's beautiful, she has a great personality, and she is one big love bug!
I have a Border Collie mix that looks a lot like a flat coated retriever but a little larger and I get stopped at the dog park a lot when people ask me “omg where did you FIND THIS BREED?!” And I have to keep telling them that unfortunately she’s not a flat coated retriever 😂 I wish! I’d love one some day
I kinda have aflat coat retriever mix. I love her anyway., I noticed her ears set up higher like she is part Aussie Shepard.the people I got her from said it was a black golden retriever
It's not so much that he films whatever new breed he finds, but he wants to film the breed doing what it was bred to do with owners who know the ins and outs of the breed. It's very difficult to find once you get into the more fringe breeds like the flat-coated retriever. I also don't think he's funded to travel for these videos which makes things even more challenging. As always, great video Zeke!
Great dogs, an old breed that was used by gamekeepers in England before WWI, and the breed almost died out but for dedicated breeders. 3 colors, black and liver are recognized in the show world, and yellows are from a recessive gene and can do field but not show. Eternal puppy attitude.
Flatties are THE most underrated and unknown breeds in the USA. Once you get one, you'll love them forever.
They have a lot of health problems though
@@nathanhursey6779 As if Goldens and Labs don't.
sshhhhhhh!!
They used to be the most prevalent Gundog in the UK before the introduction of the golden and Labrador
Not to the same extent
Flatties are so sweet and wonderful. If it weren't for the high rates of cancer I'd consider one.
They are real healty dogs other than the cancer. In Norway breeders do a good important work to eliminate cancer genetics :)
@@martelindbergsli9779 you can't eliminate cancer in this breed. There isn't lines what are free from it.
@@monikanormann4808 the breeder told me about cancer in that way. That when a pup gets cancer, they dont breed with that dogs lines no more 😬

I don’t think I’ll have another breed. Great noses, easy to train, fun companion, and just gorgeous animals. Pure joy!

My flat coat would let anyone in the house as long as they pet him first. He loves everybody and everything! Guarding is nowhere in his skill set.
Wow I’ve never heard of this breed but they are so beautiful!!
They are also great family dogs. We have one he is so sweet and he loves everyone!

We lost ours after 14 years of fun and adventures, back in Oct 2019. Haven't been able to get another since. Hard breed to find in Eastern USA
Did you check with FCRSA for a list of breeders?
@@richirvine8596 Yes. Half are not breeding, and the rest are insanely priced in the used car range
@@OdeeOz Flatties are not cheap. I have been blessed with Flatcoats for many years and to me, they are well worth the cost.

Sorry for your loss.
My dream came true! Finally a video only dedicated to my fave dog breed. Love from me & my flattie girl

Great video, I just wish it were longer. I'd love to hear a lot more about this breed. Beautiful dog.
AT LAST, MY MANY CRIES HAVE BEEN ANSWERED
I almost adopted one of these guys! How cool. (He ended up going to another family with an application before me.)

Getting one in 7 weeks. Used to having Labs but looking forward to the Flattie.
There is nothing like a flat coat they are the best.
I like the hunting breed videos, all types of hunting breeds.
Great job, Ed!!
In all the years of hunting public ground I've only seen one flat coated retriever. I hunted a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon for 13 years.
I was looking for flats when i was in LA but i never saw one!
Me & my flattie girl field work with labs, goldens, tollers, curlycoated and cheaspeake but mostly labs
Best. Breed. Ever.
Awsome dogs
I feel like once Tik Tok or instagram finds out about this breed, they’re going to sky-rocket.
