It is true that time to say goodbye was supposed to be on self titled, but the Johnny boy ep you mentioned only has 4 songs (not 6) Johnny boy, time to say goodbye, friend please and a demo version of air catcher and its not called the johhny boy ep that's just what we call it since it doesn't have a name and is just a self titled sampler which was given out at a few early shows, like the 2009 show that is on RUclips

Now, I write my own raps, as absurd as that might sound. It's only because of this band..so many kids have learned drums, and uke and piano/keys & started their own bands & they might've done all these things & more on their own (reference Luka Shepherd & Shane, both phenomenally talented), ooooorrrrr they might've just wasted themselves & never had a chance to make music. Regarding the subject matter..I hope, in whatever you have resembling spare time, that you watch a very specific video (it could be two, but I think someone made it into one) where Tyler is, very sadly, explaining the Vessel tracklist. So many mysteries got solved for me from that video. For example, even though this song is not on that list, it does qualify as one of the tracks containing subject matter dealt with in a way that Tyler only ever intended on discussing with himself, in the echo chamber of an exceedingly small fan base; not something likely, in his words 'to draw breath' or 'to take (on) a life (of its own)' (both meanings intended). I remember back two years ago now I was in probably the darkest hole I've ever been in. This song, no phun intended, hear me by imagine dragons and a few other various songs where the only things I'd really want to hear, I'd spend hours just laying in bed listening to them in my headphones when I could listen to music in school I would. They were my safe place and honestly a big reason why I started to improve I'm still in that hole and it's been really rocky but I've improved a lot and I don't know if I would've had the chance to get better without it. So to anyone who's seeing this and feeling like I did then, it gets better it's slow and difficult and I know it feels so easy to give up on life but please trust me when I say it's worth it to be here. Stay alive remember you're loved even if you don't feel it often you are ❤
tbh this song is less about suicide to me and more about giving yourself to god and dismissing your earthly possessions/self. i’ll admit i do see religion in almost all of their songs tho (bc i used to be christian myself and recognize a lot of the imagery/references). all interpretations are valid ^_^
