I’ve been wearing an airbag (Helite turtle) for the past two years (in Australia) and it is now second nature to put it on in all temps. I have come off once (in the Himalayas) and I was very happy it activated and protected my back and neck.

I use and glad to say never tested my helite 2 vest. Used it in the south of France over a mesh jacket and no issue with temperature. Feels weighty if you're carrying it about like I did at Oradour-sur-Glane and this years TT. Otherwise, recommended.

I’ve been using in&motion with rst for a few years now. Also have a furygan in&motion vest to wear under any make jacket. Wouldn’t ride with one, same as I wouldn’t ride without a helmet or drive without a seat belt. It’s no hassle and not too expensive and could potentially save your life or a great deal of injury. Glad you’re convinced Richy, I’ve had mostly positive feedback from other bikers that have asked about mine but a lot seem put off with the subscription price. That’s where Astars and Dainese are different, no subscription but higher initial garment costs.

I bought an Ixon airvest over three years ago. It uses the same InEMotion airbag/brain etc. I zip it on and west it under my textile jacket, my leather too piece and my mesh jacket. There are guides on how much space you need for the inflation. Since you remove the back protector from your gear it takes up no more room. It covers me for all season road riding so I opted for the £120 a year option. Then I went and bought an RST one piece suit for use on track. The brain just transfers across and I just select track mode on the app. The extra mode costs £25 a year. Its a really cheap way of being airbag protected in all my riding.
Now it's over three years old I paid £100 and that's it, no more cost. In hindsight I'd have just paid £400 up front but it's only been £60 difference. I've not had an activation, so as was discussed, I just think of it as unused insurance.
One thing that wasn't mentioned is that you can replace the level 1 back protector part with a D3O level 2 protector. It's about £60 and I've done that in my vest and track suit.
Everyone spends money the way they want but I'd prioritise this over a bit of bling or an exhaust. They save many people from serious injuries. We've all seen the MotoGP riders inflating in the air after highsides etc. Why wouldn't you want that protection? 🤷‍♂️
Highly recommended from my point of view. 👍
It's not the only product out there. Helite being the obvious one. There's is external so can be a bigger bag but it has to be wear resistant and hence weight and airflow are massively different. My mate bought one and simply doesn't wear it due to that....plus it's far from the nicest looking thing.

Would have been good to see the other jackets, I have 2 RST jackets and the quality is amazing, wish there was a vest I could just put into my existing jacket without buying a new one. Also if you have ever been rear ended and lost the ability to walk, the design feature of a steel rod (the gas cylinder)near the spine during and accident is a massive no no. Still a lot of money for the jacket and then more money for a subscription to a box they can turn off whenever they want? Not exactly freedom is it? How many times do they go off by mistake and cause an accident? Why doesn't it slowly deflate? Another thing to charge to go riding ffs.

A car gets hit bumper or side, the airbags reacts and gets a barrier between the next hit. But as a rider you get hit first, the the airbag reacts. I don't know it might help sometimes, but not all the time. Once a rider drove in the side of a car with high speed, his head came off and roled down the road helmet and all. So your behavior is also key in your savety. Oh and the tech can be used against you in a criminal investigation. Just so you know. And if you can't go to a side position with your head after the accident, your tongue will slide to the back of your throat and you will sufficade to death.
