Ich weiß nicht was es genau ist, aber ich finde ihre Art zu singen spannend. Bei Emptiness Machine hat sie ziemliche Power und harmoniert wunderbar mit Mike. Sie hat ein gutes Gefühl die Message der Songs zu projezieren. Chesters Tod war ein Schicksalsschlag...welcjer sicher jedem Mitglied schwer zu schaffen gemacht hat. Es fühlt sich mit ihr nicht danach an, als ob man einfach stumpf nen guten Ersatz für ihren verstorbenen Freund gesucht hat und weiter gemacht hätte, als wäre dieser Schicksalsschlag nie passiert.
Viel mehr wirkt es wie ein neues Kapitel, einerseits das Gewesene zu zu verarbeiten, aber auch die Last des schmerzvollen Verlustes von der Seele zu nehmen.
Breaking the Habit.. Die Gewohnheit der 7 schmerzvollen Jahren zu durchbrechen,
Emptiness Machine...die leergelaufene Maschine wieder im Gang zu setzen...
Sich befreien und wieder nach vorne zu sehen. Man sieht es den Bandmitgliedern an, wie befreit sie wirken.
Und da passt Emily wunderbar dazu. Man kann sich die Eltern nunmal nicht aussuchen...doch auch sie hat ihre Vergangenheit verarbeitet und startet nur Seite an Seite mit Mike und co. in ein neues Kapitel.
Man könnte meinen, sie helfen sich gegenseitig, ihre Vergangenheit zu verarbeiten...diese zwar nicht vergessen, aber deren Last von Herz und Seele zu nehmen.
Das dies der Fall ist, spürt man bei der Harmonie zwischen den Bandmitgliedern...anders könnten sie nicht so stark die Emotionen in ihre Musik transportieren.
Ich bin sicher, auch Chesters Seele würde sich über das neue Kapitel seiner Band freuen und vielleicht sogar dadurch seinen Frieden finden.
Ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass er über sie wacht...und durch die Herzen seiner alten Bandgenossen weiterhin Teil der Band sein...möge er in Frieden ruhen...
Ich wünsche ihnen eine tolle lange Zukunft und dass sie diese wiedergewonnene Harmonie bewahren.

She has a beautiful voice and their new single is amazing. This song however was not created for her vocal range. I would move up the song a couple tones so she can hit the lower notes with more presence.

I don't know if I can get behind the new sound, but I wish them all the best in either case. I think they should rename the band myself out of respect and just play the old LP songs, but her vocals need work.

@Raccoon2000 not sure what you mean. I do like many of LP songs. I will say it will take getting used to a different sound on the lead role. I do hope she grows into it as she does. So I wouldn't say I am a hater but I will say that in my opinion that was not her best performance.

None of the songs were really written for Chester. As far as i know The Messenger/One More light are the only songs written for somebody specifically. Chester wrote the messenger for his children, and one more light was written for a producer who died of cancer in 2016.
As for Breaking The Habit, it was written by Mike over 4 years, then the lyrics all clicked within 1 day. It was supposed to be an instrumental, but Joe Hahn thought this was a word of songs. Anyway when Mike brought the lyrics into the studio for Chester to sing, he got extremely emotional because he related to it so extremely hard. Chester would keep breaking down in the studio so this song was hard to record.
Which is also the reason why breaking the habit wasnt played for a big part of 2003. Only coming out live at Smokeout Festival 2003, and you can see there how emotional Chester gets.
I would say that Breaking The Habit was probably the one song that Chester probabily related to the most, and Waiting For The End is Emilys. You can see her crying clearly during the outro of WFTE at London 02.
I disagree with her sounding bad here like many say, I think she sounds a bit like a cowgirl singer or whatever you callem in America, because she adds those intentional voice breaks and really wide vocals. What I really love is how during Breaking The Habit specifically she stands still, she has respect for the song and what it meant to Chester and you can see it. She doesnt pump out the crowd like she usually does but rather stays there with her hands behind her back.

She doesn't look very comfortable at all singing the song... hands behind the back? not moving at all... awful performance, but she is new, so maybe she'll grow into it but I would think a veteran band like LP would have gotten her more confidence before putting her front and center. She also doesn't have that rawness in her voice that Chester did. I'm not saying I don't support Linkin trying to start up again, but she doesn't seem like a great choice for their sound. She kind of gets into though like when she gets into the climax "I'll never fight again..", she needs to put that energy into the entire song though. I think "From Zero" actually sounds like a decent rename of the remaining band if they want to go with her, and they do Linkin Park covers.
Of course, she was not comfortable. All the old songs were sung by male vocalists.

It's kinda funny how some fans don't even agree with the others. Some complain she's dancing too much, others say she's uncomfortable and not moving.
Some say she's "trying to imitate Chester's way of singing", others complain she's not singing like he would.
Let's be honest, if there's someone who knows what's a great choice for Linkin Park, it's them. If they choose her, that's because she's what they were looking for.
Also even though Chester was one of my favorite singers of all, that doesn't necessarily mean he would be able to sing the newest songs as good as Emily, because they were made for her voice.
Not to mention, I saw them live. Emily is great and she has a really good harmony singing with Mike.
Breaking The Habit is a difficult song to cover because of the history behind why it was written. While I agree that maybe she seems like she's walking on eggshells sometimes, it's partly because she knows some of these songs were curated from Chesters' past and personal struggles; hence why his tone is a lot different for most of them. As well as the fact that LP's comeback is a big deal for the band members and all the fans.
