I had never been near it but back in 2001 on a business trip to the Dallas area our host drove us past Texas Stadium, it seemed so much smaller from the outside than what I had expected. Remember the Cowboys haven't been to an NFC Championship Game since they moved out of Texas Stadium.
I think the Cotton Bowl is more iconic for the Dallas Cowboys. I did make a couple games at Texas Stadium. It kinda sucked it was in a dry county. I got there ready to have a few beers but......
I posted a couple weeks ago saying I could locate you in my pictures. I just watched yours again, and incredibly I am in your video too! At 0:34, when you point the camera back at yourself there are a couple frames (you can use < and > to move frame by frame) where some crowd is visible over the shoulder of the guy in the white shirt on your right. In that little patch of crowd there are 3 prominent dark figures at the very top. The figure on the right (very edge of the screen) is someone from my group. The dark figure in the center is someone behind me, in the "stomach" of that person is a light colored blob, thats my face. Directly below my face (in front of me) is a row of 4-5 people, that was my whole group. I spent way too long figuring this out (comparing clothes colors in my own pics) but I'm 100% sure. Insane coincidence that that little hole into the crowd behind you is pointed exactly at us.
Remember seeing a lot of great, epic games in that old stadium. That place held plenty of great memories it the Cowboys great legacy and all those phenomenal players that helped to build the Dallas Cowboys to the team they are today.
I was just looking at my old video/pics, and found this, you were across the street in front of me. Thanks to your daughters light blue shirt up on your shoulders I can locate you in some of my pics! Just a blur of color, but still.
I was working at cat entertainment across the way we climbed on the roof of the shop and watched this it was actually really sad to think of all the great moments that took place there a few tears were shed
That implosion is exactly what Jerry is doing to this franchise, destroying it from within. Gets rid of Johnson who won him 2 Superbowls, a third from Switzer but come on, he did that with Johnson's team. He brought Parcells in, 2 Superbowls with The Giants. He couldn't let Parcells do his job, he stuck his nose into every warroom decision. Jimmy got all the attention, all the focus for winning and he deserved that. So when Bill came along, Jerry said not this time, we will win but because of me. Since then, no rings, no Superbowl appearances, no NFC championship appearances. He has his hand so far up McCarthy's ass. Until he sells the team, they will never win another SB.
I’m not saying they should have left it there for a ridiculous amount of time, but I was surprised they got rid of Texas Stadium almost immediately after the Cowboys finished their last season using it for their home games.
My elementary school was behind where this video was shot from! I remember seeing how high we could get on the swing to see the top of the stadium! DCFFL
Hey,,, as a 49er fan,, I'm guessing you probably enjoyed seeing 49er receiver Terrell Owens dancing on the star in the middle of that Texas Stadium field,, WAY back when (I'm guessing sometime in the 2000 thru 2002 period) a couple times after he scored TDs for his team. That was when the Cowboys would go 5-11 (something like that) and were pretty much at their historical worst. I don't remember if Aikman was still quarterback (for daBOYs) or had moved on by then. However the Cowboys are most definitely,, a greatly improved team present day,,, and are actually picked by many to go to the Super Bowl (in Feb, 2024) and WIN it.
Cowboys won five Super Bowls in this place moved out of it and haven't been worth a nickel since. Jerry World is cursed, lol. Same with the Reds, they won multiple championships in Riverfront then move into GABP and been in the toilet since. Of course being an Eagles fan glad they moved out. Seems like when you win in a stadium you ought to keep it, lol
@@DTrix66 I'm half joking obviously. Since that place was almost forty years old and its design didn't allow much room for renovation replacing it was understandable. I'm just poking fun. Stadiums don't generally win championships teams do. But I do think some have a little more mystique than others. I do think Veterans Stadium was cursed though. At least after 1980.
@@Metalhead4EVRyou've probably heard the expression, "You don't shit where you eat." Well, I wouldn't want to be basically in a festering Waste Water Treatment Plant full of Dallas Cowboys feces. The best thing to ever happen to the pokes.
The new stadium is still fugly as hell.... It was a travesty they got rid of Texas Stadium. don't like the owner either tho, since he screwed Tom Laundry over.
I hate the fact that I have been in both stadiums and I will always miss the old one Dallas Cowboys Forever!

First pro sports stadium I'd been to was Candlestick in the 80's. Couldn't believe how small it was. They look so big on tv.

On Sundays, my dad would drive us out to see the progress of it being built.
I have a lot of great memories from that stadium. The WCCW wrestling events there were just as great as the Cowboys memories.
The house that Landry built

The beginning of the end for the cowboys

And the Irving Cowboys are now the Arlington Cowboys
LOOK!! FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DALLAS COWBOYS HISTORY, AN IMPLOSION HAPPENED TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE FOOTBALL TEAM ITSELF AT TEXAS STADIUM.
I love hating the cowboys
They won several super bowls whilst playing in that stadium 💀
You're not terribly smart, are you?
@@edamnaf9265Smart enough to know that the actual team wasn't in the stadium when this happened. They should have been there in the first place.
At least it didnt sit and rot for 20 years like the Silverdome here in Detroit.

Just skip to 8:25 for the implosion.

Does Jerry stick his tongue in Bill's behind too?
Me and my mother went to this doesn’t seem like it was that long ago
Imo, it is wrong to tear down old stadiums like this. They are an historical icon to culture
Interesting that fans chant "blow it up" to the stadium where the Cowboys played last time they were actually relevant 😂😂😂
I found that to be a classless act by people who were not true fans of the DALLAS COWBOYS dynasty.
And I thought the implosion happened this past weekend
Hate to see that, a lot of history in that stadium.
HINT: fast forward to 8:30!
Jebus....
Makes me sad even as a washington fan… kinda.
And the original seat bond holders cried...
I liked the idea of fireworks first to scare off the birds
Damn terrorists attacks
Blew it up and Moved the Cowboys out of Dallas. I miss Texas Stadium.
I remember my dad taking me here I was like 5 or 6
So cowboy fans gathered around to see their stadium implode instead of the team?
Blowing of the main beams sounds just like 9/11.
Just like the cowboys in real life the season implodes during playoffs 😂😂
What did they put there? I havent been back since they did this and to the new stadium
I was there. Wyoming Wes
That’s nothing my Raiders do that every Sunday 😂

Looks just like 9/11
And they moved 45 min away
Sad, great times at that stadium ❤😊😢
And nothing has really happened with the planned "development" of the site after clearing the rubble...

1st TD scored - Duane Thomas, 2nd TD scored = Bullet Bob Hayes (1971)
8:30 you're welcome
What a sad end to an icon
No thanks to Jerry Jones, no good piece of crap.
And down goes the giant toilet on the side of the road
Hopefully no 9/11 survivors witnessed this
road my dirt bike inside texas stadium for dallas supercross. 6 th place
Turns out, the opening in the roof wasn't the original plan. It was supposed to have a retractable roof but the weight would've been too much.
The old Cowboy fan joke was "Why the hole in the roof?" "So God could watch his favorite team..." ;-)

Dallas should of kept that stadium and now this team is a joke
Legendary stadium.
A life time of memories, gone up in a Plummet of smoke an dust in a matter of seconds, SAD!!!
Why were there fireworks before they blew up the stadium?
Because rich people love to waste money.
My assumption is that the fireworks were there to build up on the excitement for the final fireworks, those that brought the building down.
...and they haven't won a SUPER BOWL since.....
It's too bad they still haven't done anything to the lot
