(TAS) Wii Sports Tennis- 999 Points: Max Score Possible【Returning Balls】

Back with more Wii Sports! This time I maxed out the score of the tennis training mode, Returning Balls. This actually took me several hours to complete (including multiple dolphin errors DX). The wiimote sucks on dolphin as well, which explains the random flailing of the racket on most hits lol.
I did not speed up this video to shorten the length because I would have needed to insert music. This most likely would have resulted in copyright claims, which I am trying to stay away from. Odds are I will still get a copyright claim anyway :((((
I feel bad for the person picking those up.

I think so, yes. I'm not 100% sure though.

I assume it's the same logic behind the high scores in SM64, your score is mod 256 for some reason. Essentially for anyone who doesn't know, mod or modulo as I've also seen it said, is just the remainder of the first number divided by the second. (Example: 6/4 = 1, or 1.5 if using decimals, but 6 mod 4 is 2, as that's what the remainder is.) Because of this, if you score 256 exactly, the score would be 0 points, as 256 mod 256 is 0.

23:19 Why does the counter stop at 999? I counted three more returned balls at this point, so your actual score was 1002. I always wondered if it would be possible to score 1000 points in this particular event, but once the counter hit 999, it actually froze! And I almost always laugh hysterically when that buzzer goes off! And I bet it ought to take a ton of work to pick up a thousand tennis balls from the court!

Wait, does Returning Balls save score as an 8 bit unsigned int, like the coin scores in Mario 64? I recognize 231, the final score on the end screen, as being equivalent to 999 mod 256. What happens if you get 255 points, or exactly 256?

It had already been tested. A 255 is the maximal score ! So, if you do 256, you'll get 0 !

MrBnsftrain nope. It’s simply due to the way the game was designed. This game uses a one byte integer for the point system, so any number above 255 sets it back to 0 due to an overflow
Game only let you have 231. Bullshit
It's the dumb 256 limit all over again. It's in SM64, Pacman, Donkey Kong, all the big games. What happens is it can only hold 256 incraments, so when it goes to 257, instead of 257 points, it's one point. So 999-256-256-256=231.

I note that if the ball bounces on the net on the return, it can stay in bounds. Is it possible for the ball to stop where there mii serving the ball bounces them? I notice that the balls on the ground knock into each other, which is surprising and neat
