The song fits early 2000's Sonic so well i wasnt sure if it was actually apart of one of the game soundtracks and the movie featured it as an easter egg
YOOOO! I SHOUTED WITH JOY, THAT THIS SONG PLAYED IN SONIC MOVIE 3! First of all, I was obsessed with GoldFinger’s cover of 99 Red Balloons when I was a teen in high school. And now the fact, that it’s in the third Sonic film. It perfectly captures the early 2000s rock vibes of Sonic The Hedgehog.
This song was also present on Gran Turismo 3 Back in the day I used to play that game a lot And when this song started playing in the "sonic team race" scene I was smiling all the time.
Eurotrip brought me here years ago. When I heard it in the Sonic movie with my son, who's familiar with the original, he was like someone covered this? A tear came to my eye and I said yes Goldfinger. We got out of the theater and in the car I brought it up on Amazon music. My son thought I was the coolest because I knew about this amazing new song. I did eventually tell him this cover is like 25 years old.
You can tell it was a love letter to Nena when he sang the last verse in German. A real fan got to cover probably his favourite song and sang probably his favourite part in the OG langue. Most respectful cover ever
Normally I don't like the music picks in the Sonic movies, but I think the fans all kind of agree this is a new Sonic anthem. This goes so well with Sonic!
I love how it switches to German when all hell breaks loose. For English speakers that don’t understand German it makes the war part feel even more chaotic.
As a member of a generation removed from war with Germany by almost 80 years, we still get a little nervous when someone starts yelling at us in German :D Personally, I think this version of the song kicks ass, German verse included.

It's crazy, because when we went to Germany a couple of years back, it definitely sounded like all the bands at the beer tents were covering Goldfinger's version. Love the original song, but this song is a certified banger. Rock on boys!
Gran Turismo 3 and Sonic 3 Movie Brought me here! It was a great surprise hearing this song in the sonic 3 movie, this era of 2000s punk rock (alongside the sonic franchise) really gives me flashbacks of an era that was alot simpler and happy for me.
Man, the hours I sank into GT3 is insane, but the hours I sunk into this song is way beyond that. Hahaha. I turned the radio in GT3 to strictly play this song for a long period of time too while I was playing it. Hope 2025 treats you well!
SAMEEE, this song is so perfect for sonic and everything he stands for, glad sonic 3 gave me this beautiful song, and I hope the future movies have bangers like this song, sonic is at its peak with lyrical music like this
+Captain Porter I like this more than the original version because the lyrics match with the instruments. In the original version, the lyrics go on about war destroying the world with a bouncy, pop sound in the background, which do not match at all. In this version, you have those lyrics with a heavier (compared to the original) punk sound, which I feel really compliment the lyrics.
Every time I would listen to this cover within earshot of my mom, she would always tell me that the ending of this version doesn't give her goosebumps like the original. She passed last month but I'm glad to know that this will be some silly little something I think about every time I hear this song.
