Man that sure brings back memories of my 51. Sure do still miss her after twenty five years. Had to give her up after having health issues at the time. You have this one sounding like a top. Also they look great with wire spoke wheels.

I prefer the old 4-speed crash box but then, I've never been in a hurry. I have an F6 so nobody is going to hit me from behind and cause me any harm while totaling their ride at the same time.
Like my '49 Merc pickup. I would love to redo one with a Lincoln flathead V12 cammed up a bit with 3 2barrels.

This car is at the garage where I work as we speak. It was resold after the show and ended up at the garage where I work for a suspension upgrade. Its being fitted with air suspension and power steering has been added. If anyone is interessted I can send some pictures of the car in its current state.

9:10 The original exhaust manifold is the way it was because back in the day pickup trucks were build like farm equipment. Durability was paramount. They didn't have computer modeling etc. In other words, I don't think it's fair to say it was a matter of budget.
Durable is a form of budget.

My personnel choice goes to Offenhauser over Edelbrock but both have their advantages. In the end I just think the shiny Offy look pretty dam good! :-)

To big of an exhaust is low gas volicity not low flow the volume of gas doesn't change
But yet it sounded immaculate
On a flathead you shouldn’t have used a tap on the head bolt threads, you will fight leaks like crazy now.

Not too sure how an intake manifold can improve exhaust gas flow but.......
those flatheads do not make that much power
lucky to see over 150HP with these mods
changing to an automatic makes a decent cruiser

They might as well have parted out the truck when they replaced the transmission with a slushbox.
Slush Boxes went out with the Dynaflow and Torqflite in the 1950s.
The modern automatics are very efficient. That looks like a TH350.
You got gas dripping out of the bowl in the back of engine.
