Based on the info, I believe you should have faith that transitioning to full-time YT will work out. I understand it’s daunting that things may not work out I think the same myself, but sometimes, by not taking that leap, you may never realize your full potential and how far you can go by not giving it your all. Sometimes.
You just have faith and trust that everything will be alright!!

I understand your dilemma completely Rai. I too have that mentality, of being scared to give 100% because it may not work out in the end. I cant give you the best advice so I'll say what my parents told me repeatedly. "If you never give it your all, you'll never reach first place." I know its not much... but i hope it can give you some encouragement. I love your content, and respect any decision you choose, and will always wish the best for ya. :)

I totally support the decision of doing content creation full time. As a fellow software engineer, I know it's so hard to balance both. Whatever decision you take I would respect that Raiyuden! P.S. Sparking Zero is around the corner as well.

  • @christiancinnabars1402

I honestly do think that expanding the content on the main channel to other Dragon Ball games would be a good start to slowly securing a rock solid foothold (rather than hoping every day that the Legends devs don't nuke the PvP scene even harder than they already have). Dabbling in some FighterZ and XV2 here and there while still being a Legends focused channel could work - Rhyme pretty much had a heavily XV2 focused channel when it came to Dragon Ball a while back with some helpings of FighterZ and Legends, for comparison. With Sparking Zero on the horizon, this _is_ the best time to start shifting gears.
The main worry I do have is with viewer retention and click through rate. With FighterZ and Sparking Zero videos, it will probably be easy to structure them pretty much like all the Legends PvP videos: with just the rest time between matches being cut and each video being its own contained thing. But with more story focused games like XV2 and Kakarot, there will probably need to be _a lot_ of editing down for them to do well as a series, and even then each subsequent part of the series probably would not do as well as part one due to people not wanting to just jump into the story partway through.
I'd go as far as to say that story based games are kind of _risky_ outside of streaming them. And I guess they _could_ just be streamed now that RUclips puts livestream vods and regular videos in separate tabs, but I have noticed that people who usually stream on Twitch don't really like how RUclips handles the whole streaming business.
But all of this is past the decision of going full-time on content creation in the first place. Honestly, if working double is tanking your health and you have already saved enough money to garner yourself a couple years worth of cusioning, then I would say to go for it. Legends hasn't imploded yet, and SZ is generating a ton of hype for Dragon Ball content as a whole, so being successful as an already pretty sizeable DB content creator is just a matter of finding the balance between following what your general audience likes to maintain views while also following what you yourself like to not burnout.

    • @Raiyuden
      @Raiyuden  10 месяцев назад +14

Really appreciate such a detailed response. With the extra time my plan is to improve on editing for both the Legends videos and any additional content that I do. I love growing my skills for content creation and think it’s the most logical step, if my skills are poo I’d just get an editor for here haha.

    • @formula_1582
      @formula_1582 10 месяцев назад +1

@@Raiyuden honestly, editing is not too difficult once you get a little comfortable with whatever software you want to use. There are people who can do some really crazy cool stuff but if you just give yourself time to find your own style, to insert your own jokes or bits or make something more serious, you can easily excel. You and your videos already have alot of personality and energy, learning how you want to convey those feelings with your edits becomes a breeze the more you do it.
On another note, I completely understand the loop of "I really want to do this but I don't want to do it without knowing I wont fail." As dummy said, you really just have to have faith in yourself. You've got the skills, you've got some pretty dang loyal viewers, and while its not possible to have 100% certainty that you will succeed on youtube, you have much higher chances for success than the people who have failed in the past. Its a leap of faith, it really is, but if this is something you truly enjoy and love then its a leap worth taking. Life's path will have you go down some really unexpected twists, turns, and splits. When the path splits, walking on them both at the same time can be a really tiring struggle. Pick the one you think will bring you the happiness you want to attain in life.

By far my favorite DBL content. You keep teams fresh and new and give way more insight on the each character with different team builds which helps keep content feeling fresh. If you enjoy your job more than playing DBL, then I would say keep doing Software engineering. You can always pop a video out once or twice a week and Im sure everyone will still be watching your videos.
If you decide the stream route, then definitely include alot more games, game varieties, etc. I think if you did that, I have a feeling you would sky rocket in views and growth. You have great commentary, personality, and drive and you are the only streamer where I actually watch all of you videos. You sound burnt and we dont want to run you out of doing the two things that you love.

Hello rai , I’ve been watching you for years and i want to say, I understand how you feel, I’m an audio engineer major and business minor. Although I want to do music full time and I have the talent for it, it’s a very very tough field because it’s entertaining and I rely on other people to enjoy my stuff a lot, it’s the whole premise of my career path. I chose business as a minor incase things never worked out with music so I can always fall with a state job in case my music career goes down. You’re a sw engineer and that’s such an amazing accomplishment because many people struggle with that field. You also have a good RUclips channel that’s also hard to achieve. In my opinion, it’s very hard to predict what numbers will be like with RUclips since it’s always changing. I think if you know you’ll be financially stable in 20 or 30 years with RUclips, go ahead. However, I feel like if you’re not too sure on that subject, stay in software because that’s a never dying field and you’ll be secured with benefits and retirement. If you also take into account your monthly expenses and averages, I think that would be best to know what direction you want to go. I hope you read this and do well.

Man I relate to you listing your issues off on being on a road of being full time content creator or staying with a job since income is very important.
I always I end up thinkin just as long on decisions and end up trailig it with caution and that fear sometimes can feel like missable opportunities.
Whatever your decision is your fans and I totally support you all the way. Its ok to take a bit of time to really think it over or see if numbers such as views and income are increasing since you keep a steady eye on that info to see if its worth it.
Id just say keep a eye on your content outside of Legends. Are numbers increasing steadily, paused in motion, or slowly decling? You kind of get your answer a bit from there if it may seem worth it or not.
But the fear on the long run is always present so back up plans could help with the aniexty of the decision.

I think wanting to grow your channel is a good idea. It can be done as long as you take multiple important factors into consideration.
First, it is important to understand the current state of your channel and why it is successful. Your channel's main focus is obviously Dragon Ball Legends. I think it is safe to assume that you and Goresh are the two biggest Legends creators on RUclips. Your videos consist of reviewing new and old units as well as trying out unique teams with those same units to showcase their capabilities. Then you upload the occasional summon video, character reveal reaction, character kit overview, and collaboration. Your showcases are seem to be what attract the majority of your views as players are always wanting to know what the capabilities are of the new or even old units. Since Legends is a gacha game, many players don't summon for or fail to summon the new units which brings them to your channel to see what they are capable of. And even if they do manage to get the new unit, many players will still go to your channel to hear your opinion as a way to better understand the unit they summoned or for team ideas. Whether it was your intention or not, you've become an important figure in the legends community and your word carries weight. People value what you have to say which you can give yourself a pat on the back for as it is a great display of your success.
Second, it is important to understand your viewer base and what type of content they want to see. Your channel's main focus is a Dragon Ball mobile gacha game. This attracts people that are into Dragon Ball and/or gacha games. But does this mean you should only upload content related to Dragon Ball and gacha to appease those viewers? Not at all. A Dragon Ball fan has a good chance of also being an anime fan which means anime related content should retain decent viewership. Let's say that hypothetically a AAA Bleach game releases and you decide to make videos on it. You'll still retain a decent bit of your current viewer base as I'm sure a good portion of them also enjoy Bleach. You would also be able to attract views from Bleach fans that are new to your channel. You'll also always have those viewers that watch everything you upload because they like you as a creator and enjoy everything you post. And now that hypothetical Bleach game you played has not only brought in views from your veteran subscribers, but it has also brought in new subscribers that enjoy your new content. And just like that, you've expanded your channel.
Third, it is important to understand RUclips itself. Channels with low subscriber counts can get an absurd amount of views by uploading a video that focuses on the latest trend. But you will also gain views by entering the recommendation algorithm of people that watch similar content to what you post. I'm sure everyone knows how this works by now and explaining it is unnecessary. But I will say that you don't need to use the latest internet trend to have a chance at growing your channel. And I mentioned the recommendation algorithm because your channel is gaining new views from it right now. It's how I discovered you. I watched the Legends Reveals and Stuff videos and then my RUclips feed recommended me DB Legends videos from various content creators. I watched a few of your videos and subscribed because you made content on something I was interested in and you're also just give the vibe of a chill guy. If we use my hypothetical AAA Bleach game example again, your videos on that would find there way into someone's recommended feed pretty easily. Let's just imagine someone hyped for the game watched all of the trailers. Then they watch the gameplay reveal. And finally they watch the release trailer when the game comes out. You then upload videos of the game day one and the person that watched all of the official trailers is now getting recommended videos of content creators uploading their own footage of the game. You will likely be one of the content creators in that individual's recommendations which may earn you a view and a new subscriber. And congratulations, you've now grown your channel with the help of the RUclips algorithm.
I now want to take a moment to specifically talk about your idea to upload Sparking Zero footage when the game releases. I think that is a fantastic idea. Your existing viewer base enjoys watching your Dragon Ball Legends content so a AAA Dragon Ball game is pretty on topic for your channel. Day one footage will also bring in a bunch of views from your existing fans as well as a bunch of views from new individuals that are just interested in Sparking Zero. Your content will serve as a way for people to see raw footage of the game and your commentary may be what convinces people if the game is something they want to purchase. However, Sparking Zero will likely be a game that many people will be uploading footage of. And many of the people uploading that footage will likely be from larger channels that will end up raking in most of the views. They will end up being competition in a way. However, that isn't really a big deal. Most of the larger channels will likely upload more casual gameplay footage which is bound to get repetitive. There's nothing wrong with casual gameplay, but it doesn't necessarily stand out. Standing out will give you the highest chance of success. And how are you supposed to stand out? Honestly, just have fun. The game is advertising a pretty big character roster for its release. An easy way to stand out would be to take your favorite character and do a deep dive into everything they're capable of as well as what you like about them. If Super Saiyan 3 Goku is your favorite character to play as when the game drops, upload a 25-30 minute video about him. Show off his animations, use him in PvP, and just talk about everything you like about the character. Your DB Legends showcase format can also be applied to a game like Sparking Zero. People that don't use Super Saiyan 3 Goku will watch your video to see what he's capable of. People that don't own Sparking Zero but love Super Saiyan 3 Goku will watch your video and be amazed by how the game portrays him. By having fun and a passion, your Sparking Zero videos will stand out.
Those are basically just my thoughts on the whole thing. I would like to see your channel grow. But most importantly, I want you to do what you want to do.

I love your channel and it’s one of the reasons I started playing dbl.
The first thing I will do, it’s to see if making the transition to full time steaming can support your lifestyle.
If not, I will wait until it does and diversify the channel or channels to multiple games since you’ve never know how long dbl will last. Maybe ask for some time off to do content 100% and see the results, that will be a good tell too.
If yes, I will still diversify to multiple games and ask other content creators for advice since that will be the best tell if it’s possible to live off being a CC. Games come and go and people’s interest change for the new upcoming games. Maybe you can also read manga, I’ve seen channels that do well doing that.
I will follow you on any upcoming channels and content you create and I wish you nothing but the best on your upcoming decisions. I’m a Christian men of God so I will pray for you as well.

He realizes the value and importance of maintaining a stable and lucrative career outside of RUclips, which is why he never went "full time" on RUclips. You guys have similar output levels. Raiyuden, just know the final say belongs to you. With that said, though, since you said you had something saved up, you owe it to yourself to possibly go that route but give yourself some fall back options (job hunting after x amount of time). You don't want to let years go by then have regret on "what if". Sit yourself down and really weigh it out. The game has much material to work with, but whether the game still garners as many players moving forward that's beyond your control. Like you said, there are other games you could cover too.
Either way, you will have to dedicate your time fully to your goal. You have a chance to possibly succeed. However, it depends on how much effort you put forth.
You brought up some good points, but in the end, it's what you want to do. You already have a job, but it sounds like you may have hit the ceiling there.
Your community supports you, no matter what, but whatever it is, you need to commit to it. This, by far, was one of your best vids as you have been presented an opportunity. Something is going to give, but it's your call what you want to do. Whatever it is, give yourself a chance to pursue it. Best wishes moving forward.

I would recommend taking the leap if you really like being a content creator more. Also, I’m in the engineer/tech field myself, and I think another good option would definitely be to get into a remote cybersecurity job since those are high paying and allow you more flexibility. Like this is like kinda a solution from me personally from how i would do things if i were in ur shoes at this point cuz ur right this game might be gone in the next 5-6 years possibly or might even be gone this anni for all we know and ur job rn helps put food on ur table so seeing into a farther future ur job rn is obviously the safest bet than possibly gambling on utube and also no matter what u could be uploading once a week there will still be loyal fans like me and im sure many more who care more for ur well being than just pumping out content that will shorten ur life span atleast when u take care of urself there will still be a Raiyuden in the long run than no Raiyuden at all

I say go for content creation and try to do collabs with the homies kind of what Diddy did and look at that fella now he's doing great. Plus, you get to work on your own time, which is a nice factor to being a content creator, not to mention expanding your content to other dragon ball games and go from there. Like for instance I absolutely love the collabs you did with nano there always very fun to watch. Another thing is to talk to the fellas like nano, rhyme, datruth and ask them how they go about everything and ask how they bring in new people or how they get people to click on the videos whether it be due to editing or due to the thumbnails or idk something along those lines or what character brings in more views. Again this is my thoughts on it. Love ya Rai you've really gotten me into legends a whole lot more and reawakend my love for ssj3 goku and hope everything goes your way bro!

The blast debuff is an attribute downgrade, not an abnormal condition.
Gohan has a couple of ways of cancelling them but most of them are only going to activate when in a defensive position or in neutral. With the exception being the green card, which could be an easy way to get around Frieza's debuff.
As for Super 17, he can cancel the attribute downgrade when his gauge activates but if you switch in Frieza afterwards there's not much he can do. However the debuff only lasts for 3 counts.

Hey Rai I just wanted to talk about everything going on with your Career path and the like.
Firstly I have to say I'm in a pretty similar spot so I understand where you're coming from, coming from that perspective as well as an outside observer I have a couple suggestions that could help.
Like you talk about there's a lot of uncertainty with content creation but I can see that you like doing it I would say going full into it would be difficult at the moment but a good start is try making a video Every other day, it doesn't have to be a super long one 20ish minutes should work and also try different content styles out I'd love seeing you play other games! That's also a big thing to grow is that Dragon ball legends can only go so far with it's community so branching out more is a big step in the right direction. Since you already have your foot in the door with dragon ball content do more of that at first and gradually shift to different games or topics. If your consistent and bring more content I'm sure your community will grow and when you reach either 500k or if you see that your gaining a lot more attention that's when I'd say is a good time to really start hammering at it.
Another thing is while having different channels and media platforms can be good it also puts a lot of stress on you. I'd honestly say put most of your Videos on this channel since it's the one with the biggest following so far, you can still stream on twitch if you'd like and edit a video off said stream and post it here and I think that would work, running two separate channels though would be hard to do.
I know you can do it Rai and I support you, hope you see this!
P.S if you need a little break that might help. Take a week or 2 break just to breath a little and it also could get you extra motivated!

Rai, think about it like this… the amount of success you have now is amazing, with being a RUclipsr, working full time, and streaming. Now just imagine if you went FULL THROTTLE with RUclips and content creation! My personal opinion, just take one year off, just one. If you see a significant amount of growth in the content creation space then continue it. If not, you can always fall back on your tech job. One year won’t hurt you, especially if you’re as frugal as you say, and are smart about it.

Hey rai, usually don’t comment, and I’m probably a bit late, but I just wanted to say that I and many of us fans will support what you do. But from me, some random person, I watch a lot of relatively small RUclipsrs and have yet to see one who went all in and failed. In fact, some have grown large amounts. (so far). On top of that, like many others in this comment section have said, with the release of Daima and soon to be Sparking Zero (maybe), there is some great early leverage here. However, like you said, there are many risks for if you don’t get as lucky. I personally am still in school and so not only are things like this still scary; they’re also not really something I feel “right” commenting on. Whatever you do I wish you the best of luck, and I look forward to future uploads. :)

Even if it doesn't work out, and you need to reassess and go back to working, it gives you a period of rest to stay away from work. If you can keep up the content once done with resting and be able to put your attention in, you could have some good opportunities with games like sparking zero coming out and others in the future. Even if legends doesn't last, there are alternatives and you can find new paths, ideas, etc.

Raiyuden, I think when it comes to your decision, I think beyond asking what you want to do, you need to ask yourself: how do I want to live? You talked about seeing how things look in 4 or 5 years when it comes to income, but ask yourself, how does my personal life and environment look at that point?
Content creation is a risk, a big gamble some might say, it's making 1 dollar in a month and 200 the next and looking at it from that perspective, getting a stable job seems to be the correct choice...but why is that correct choice? What is your plan? What purpose or end goal do you have that requires that type of income? Merely paying bills? That's fair..but is that all you want? These are the questions that you will inevitably ask yourself and need to answer before making a decision

Ray. I believe in your heart you know the right answer. I love games, watching youtube, playing, watching, everything. But, sadly, doing all these stuff, as much as it hurts to say it, and I hope you understand where I am coming from, it is childish. This does not give you anything. The job you do, you get to do something that will undoudabtly help you with networking, financial stability, and most importantly, develop you into a respectable guy who will some time have his own family and network (friends, colleagues). I would advise to honestly, don’t give all that away, just to make videos. I get it is awesome and you might love it. But reality is, you will grow up, become an older man (soon), and this is not the path long-term. I might be wrong, and I ackowledge that. Just stating what I believe to be true. Cheers brother.

      @ZeusApollo_97 10 месяцев назад

Just to clarify. You are a unique content creator. And we both know you will be succesful if you give it 100%. The question is, do you see yourself making DB legends or ps5 game videos, in 10 years. Where would that lead to in terms of your social life? Is this what you want your family to watch you doing day in, and day out. That is my point i’m trying to make. Software engineer is a vreat career that offers more free time (with great pay) than other careers. So if you are already there, make the most of that. You might regret throwing that away in 3 years from now.

I don't think the societal expectations should dictate what a person should choose as their career tho I do agree that networking is hard in this career.
But, the dude's passionate about it, it makes him and thousands of others happy and currently has a stable income from it, so why care about what a couple people think about it?
It isn't really childish perse but rather the stigma from where you come from, maybe the people around you aren't familiar with this idea yk?
If you know PewDiePie and his backstory, he was ridiculed for making gaming videos in his country but now is a very respected person. So really It's the person that dictates if their career is respectable or not, rather than the career itself... If the same mentality was adopted by game developers we wouldn't even have any games to begin with 😂
But I do agree with your concerns about networking and stability tho...

Think the way you talked about it, makes sense if you tried doing the content creator thing for a while see how it goes? Might take a bit to get it going with different games or types of content but I'm pretty sure most of us here would gladly come along for the ride! Seeing as though you'll be fine for years financially, it'd probably help you relax a bit more, having your own deadlines to follow rather than a company's, so I think it'd be a breath of fresh air for ya and a way to gain even more experience than you've got already. I see the "safe" option as well, it's nice to be able to fall back on something you know will work basically for forever, I don't think anyone here would blame you if you did choose your current job over youtube. Speaking from a corporate working environment, the concept of working for yourself is a dream, but practical experience is so valuable (my opinion), so if software (or AI) is what you intend on pursuing, learn from the "best" and better it for yourself when you are ready. Speaking from a personal perspective, you might first need to assess what you would like to achieve in a 10 year period, instead of thinking whether what you are busy with will last. If you have a goal you can work backwards in planning to achieve it. That might even help in answering the question of what will happen to your channel. Honestly I watch every video you post due to the monologue and interaction (as well as the gameplay obvs). You would be able to go solo were you committed in doing so✌️ thanks for the content Rai💪

Many people will support you no matter what content you post because we love the content cuz of you and not the content itself, I myself quit legends a while back but still watch you cuz I wholeheartedly love you dude.
but I can't speak for everyone, so it's hard to predict the response to different content. It's hard to watch you gamble in a gotcha game already 😭 so I wouldn't gamble with life. But that said as you mentioned you gotta build a brand around yourself rather than attach yourself to a game so you should start playing around with different content and then make the decision than to jump first and decide later, and with Sparking Zero around the corner, I think it's the best time to do it.
Also, I personally wouldn't mind if you cut down the content and recuperate, I'd rather have you in a single energetic video than tired in 3 videos or sum... Try not to burn yourself out.

I think above everything you talked about with what decision/ path you want to end up taking, i think you should put your health first. I love seeing your videos pop up and the energy you bring with each one, but i think i can speak for many that we would want you to take care of yourself above all, and if that means going full time youtube/streaming then awesome! But if it means putting more into your work its completely understandable and youd have our full support.
Would love to see this channel explode especially with all the upcoming dragon ball content, keep up the amazing work and thank you again for the time and energy you put into everysingle one of yourr videos :)
P.S your videos made me a run a Bu Duo setup even in this crazy meta

To be absolutely honest, doing SWE (which is currently my dream job and what I'm studying in University) is the safe option. If I'm being 100% honest, DBL isn't going to grow more than it is right now. You'll have to really diversify your content to other things that will increase your following and to attract more viewers. DBL alone isn't going to cut it in terms of putting 100% into. Although content creation is risky, if you really have *enough* money stashed away for enough years then you can give it a shot for like a year or two. And if this is just a burnout phase, then maybe you can take a break. Completely up to you. That's just what I think. You've practically been posting everyday for God knows how long. I would also love to try this content creation stuff but I don't have a PC for what I want to play (can't afford it). Maybe when I become an SWE as well in a couple years, I too can give it a shot :) Love your content Rai and have been watching for a year after I quit legends.
Also there's another guy I watch called Xlice. He plays genshin impact and he was also a software engineer and he talked about having to make the jump to full time content creation from SWE in his newest video.

I think that the only way to find the answers you are looking for is to go ahead and give it your all. Of course, it's not an easy choice to make, so if there is any way for you to test out the waters before jumping full-time content creator, you should do it. Just know that whatever you choose, we will support you, my dude
