The man with round glasses is Hisashi Inoue (a leading Japanese playwrights), and later, Ashley's great sound and Hisashi Inoue's song "Hyokkori Hyoutanjima" met in the movie "Nabbie's Love" released in 1999. It was a wonderful time.
Firstly, the lady's grin at 8:06 is hilarious. The next minute and a half are pure Ashley. Secondly, does anybody else hear that his B flat is about 10-15Hz sharper than concert pitch? I strongly suspect he's emulating a bagpipe's "just above B flat but not quite a B" ~476Hz tuning (concert B flat is 466Hz).
