Another great exercise to finish off is to close your foot from the 'fished' arabesque to first position while keeping the 'fish' muscles engaged, basically flexing your foot in a 'fished', turned out position.
Great exercises. my left foot has a tendency to sickle as my ankle was broken years ago. Love that these moves aren’t too strenuous (I am not only adult but would say mature ballet dancer 😅😅)Came across many fast paced feet videos on YT which were just too much. these are on point so to speak 🙏🏻thank you
this is great! do you have any tips for sickling in retiré? my feet are fanned out beautifully in tendu, arabesque, etc but as soon as i bend the knee they sickle 😢
@@deannaalee yes I do! Try practising your “wrapped cou de pied” position around your supporting ankle and slowly lift your knee while keeping your foot wrapped. When the sole of your foot is wrapped around your calf muscle, keeping lifting your working knee as you move your foot under your supporting knee, still maintaining the winged alignment of the ankle. You may need a mirror for the first few attempts, but you should end up with the foot in a retiré position and the ankle with winged alignment (opposite to a sickle). I’m considering making a video on it in the new year, but I hope the above makes sense in the meantime!
Pay a surgeon to operate on you to sever the ligaments deep in the body, which control rotation of leg in hip socket. If you are not born with the ability to rotate fully, surgery is the only way. Exercises will make very little difference.
@@myballetcoach oh thank you so much! I wanted to buy bloch performa but endedup with capezio, will surely go back to check the sand colors, really nice! thanks again!
Sickle 'out' or sickle 'in' shows loss of control (usually due to lack of strength) of the straight line through centre of thigh, centre of lower leg, and centre of the foot, regardless of where the leg is.

does this increase mobility for people who don't naturally have a winged/beveled foot? or is this just for people with natural mobility
Yes it’s for everyone!
What other objects can you use if you don’t have a tennis ball???
I used two rubber bands and tired them into a ball
