Small correction here. I said a few times we'll do the reasons to be pessimistic on tomorrow's episode but we are on our Monday , Wednesday, Friday schedule until mid September, so thay episode will be released Wednesday. Might take me a week to get used to it.

"When you have Makar, MacKinnon and Rantanen on your team, you always have a chance" - THIS. I always keep saying this, because it's the truth.

Yeah a chance....a chance to exit in round 2 again. It takes a full team not just 3 players to win it all, who seemed to disappear because 1 player was out last two post seasons. It takes a bigger, stronger, grittier TEAM not individuals.

@@bafriesen No one can really predict how a legit playoff team is going to do in any given season based solely on how the said team looks on paper. And the Avs still look good on paper DESPITE the uncertainty about Landeskog and Nichushkin. If you want to be a whining defeatist even before the start of the season, it's your choice. Don't be surprised, though, if other people choose to actually wait and watch some hockey before drawing any conclusions about the team's chances in the next playoffs. It's so tiresome to see "fans" like you burying the team in summer as if they were the Blue Jackets, Sharks or Ducks.

Wouldn't mind the avs winning one more time before or on they're 30th anniversary. Four cups in thirty years as a franchise isnt a bad run.

Let's give Chu the benefit of a doubt and say he comes back stronger ever. That'll give the Avs one of the best top 6 groups in the league. If they can only resolve their defensive woes, they should go deep in the playoffs.

I'm optimistic, but still concerned about goaltending, and the status concerning Landy and Nuke. The Central division will be very competitive this coming season.

10 on the roster for this year. Including Landy and Nichushkin

The Avalanche kept Josh Manson, a real, sizable defender who had better production than some offensive dmen. That's something to be optimistic about. He's all the defense they have this coming year, especially considering what you said about Makar.
Re: later comments on having a cup...The way the Avalanche are built they're not going to win another cup soon. You can pretend 2000s hockey is over but it's not, Florida just proved it again. Teams are getting players just as fast as Avs but bigger and can withstand the grind of 4 rounds. WIth MacFarland at the helm making this the smallest, softest team in the league they will be like STL WSH, one and done because when they won they had balance.

I'm optimistic about Georgiev next year. He struggled so hard and then came through so strong in the playoffs after game 1 vs Jets that he has to be confident. Annunen seems ready to perform as a backup, too.
The stats on where the leagues make their money just make it all the more disgusting that NFL ticket prices are so out of reach for most fans. It doesn't have to be. Pure greed.

2 of the big 3 had career years and also played nearly every game as well, Drouin, LOC and Colton each had career years.
And it was enough for a 2nd rd exit. The Big 3 can carry you that far. Hard to believe that there will be much more that this version of the team can accomplish.

Makar 100% had a rough year. Everyone wants to look at his points and say he didn't but the first thing you should be looking at for a defenseman is their defense. He was defensively unsteady for most of the year and made multiple major errors including one in the playoffs that directly led to goals against.
Repeatedly making mistakes that you would expect somebody like Josh Manson or even Jack Johnson to make. Not Makar. Obviously he is still one of the best defensemen in the league if not the best defenseman, I'm not saying he's not. But saying he didn't have a rough year is just choosing to be blissfully ignorant.

During the 2024 Playoffs the AVS had Mackinnon, Rantanen, and Makar and they still lost the 2nd Round against the Dallas Stars. All 18 players need to be above their standards in the playoffs not just the top 3 players. Now the only optimistic thing about the AVS is Nickuskin failing his requirements to comeback to the NHL. The era of him on the AVS ending sooner than later is very optimistic. Awesome Sauce to the 8th best team on the Western Conference the Colorado AVS .

If you look at the quality of third and fourth line and the third d line - none, silch reason for optimism. This might be the year, they will not make the playoffs. Four major sports? Beside European Football, enjoyed by billions, what is there……?⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️
