0:52 It's funny how Chas is drinking (when in real life he doesn't) and Chris is reading a Men's Fitness magazine (and people are always taking the piss out of him for not being very fit). God, I love you guys.
I think people in Australia and other western countries think that because we have achieved relative (note relative, not absolute) gender equality, we think feminism is no longer important and that it's mostly man-hating crazies (which it sometimes is), but feminism is still so relevant, more so in other parts of the world where women are still blatantly discriminated against, whether it is written in the constitution that a woman's life is worth half of a man's (Iran) or
It was released last year, but if you're not Australian I'm pretty sure it won't air in your country. Good thing most of their stuff is on youtube though!
Men in the Media...I was well educated watching 'Anchorman - The Legend of Ron Burgundy'. I've learnt that men in media wear make-up and have 'great hair'.... Veronica Corningstone: Well, you have bad hair. Ron Burgundy: [outraged] What did you say?
can i ask someone who is the girl arguing with Paul Henry about the women's image at the end of the video? She is one feisty little cookie. Good on her. I am a man.
There is a kid in my class who make sexist comments: laughing about how sexist the world was and still is, commenting the women's wombs smell of chicken and saying that a dial phone looks like a women's breast to a girl in my class, I could say more but every single time he says these things he has no idea how he hurt us
And of course it is the extreme ones that receive the most attention. But contemporary feminism is concerned to things a little more relevant, which is not so obvious is somewhere in Australia where, relative to many parts of the world, women are a lot more equal to men. Obviously there are still problems, but in many parts of the world women face serious issues just because of there sex. For them, feminism is not some stupid irrelevant concept, but something incredibly important.
This is funny but some of the guys shown do go overboard. You're supposed to be news/morning show presenters. Come on guys show a bit more class. Acting quite underage here.
It actually is absolute. Women have a lot more privileges than they like to admit, and do not trail behind men in any area they like to claim they do. Lets see a man take months off of work with pay and guarantee of a job when he comes back because he made a personal decision that affects multiple people. Lets see what happens in domestic cases and childrens custody between couples. The fact is, you can't have everything equal PLUS inherent benefits.
What is your basis on speaking on behalf of your entire gender? While a variety of male individuals, such as yourself, may have the sort of egotistical attitude that makes them believe that their view is indeed the view of the majority, a lot of men are intelligent, well rounded individuals who understand the need for respect towards all people. Don't speak in generalisations.
The vast majority of the viewers of theses programs are women. Women have the power to change the content of these programs. If the content of the media is offensive to many women then use the "grrrl" power I've heard so much about, demand that the programs change, or simply refuse to watch the programs. It's that simple. It's known as doing something about it.
For instance, many women still complain that they are paid 70% of what men are for identical work. This is empirically false and a stupid idea to even entertain for a second. If it were true, why would anyone hire men? Businesses are in it for the bottom line, and if they could have the exact same work done at a saving of 30%, they would do it. There are only 2 answers here: Either it's a lie, or men actually do the work better somehow. Of course feminists will say PATRIARCHY RRRAGRGAAARGH
"Not even I would say that, and I'm a strawman."
LOLOLOL

This is great; some refuse to take note of this issue unless you take the time to spell it out to them like this video did. Thanks!

Shadow Education Minister Christopher Pyne and ex-Labour politician Lindsay Tanner.

Whooo! Go feminism! :D
Really, what are some goals of Australian feminists? What horrible injustices do they hope to right? Are there any?
