I thought it was funny that Kirk praised Georgia for scoring 16 points with their backup but talked down on FSU for only scoring 16 with their 3rd string
Herbstreit is a condescending prick towards the "lesser" teams he doesn't want to win. He talks down towards those teams, even during telecasts. Just tune them out and listen to Klatt.
Where is Disney/ESPN/ABC in all this and what state is represented and going against. All the outlets show the football team in all the treads when they're just along for the ride with the rest of the sports teams. Tell me FSU didn't get left out last year because of bias. Follow the money.
The idea of using anything other W-L as the MAJOR diffentiator is terrifying. In that way FSU deserves to be in! They were top 10 in the beginning of the seasons and some of the best players, doesn't matter that they couldn't win a game, they were SUPPOSED to be great.
So all the schedules and the teams on that schedule are all equal?? That’s insanity. Some people can’t handle that he was 100% correct on what he said.
Kirk's loyalty to ESPN/SEC overshadowed his love for his alma mater. He could've talked up his Buckeyes dominance, but he slopped and praised over Tennessee fans for "taking over" the shoe.
I hope you see this TJ, I knew Kirk was an ass not only all last December and this entire year, and when he took shots at our fans on gameday and the selection show, but during conference championship Saturday when he praised UGA for winning and being "gritty" with a SECOND string, but degraded us with our THIRD STRING TRUE FRESHMAN.
Look. Kirk knows who signs his paycheck. We already knew he is just a mouthpiece for ESPN and the sooner other folks figure this out the sooner he discredited as the “college football authority “.
Another point is if during the regular season you play 1-3 of the best 12 teams and you lose to some of them wouldn’t it stand to reason you’re not the best of the 12 but like maybe 13-15? Why not give Indiana the shot cause they haven’t been able to beat the best 12 while you’re team lost to them already? Why would people wanna see Georgia vs Texas, Georgia vs Bama for the 3rd time this season. We already know what happens during those games. We sure as heck don’t know how Indiana woulda fared or SMU so giving them the shot was 100% correct
I don't pay attention to Kirk anymore after last year. When he does a game, it's just white noise while I'm watching it. I could just as easily mute it when he's on.
Kirk is being paid to do this. They are planting the seed in viewers' heads' that will justify ESPN, and the CFB playoffs ability to dictate and decide who will get in. This decision will be based on the programs ability to make them money
The implication that letting in the 4th and 5th best SEC and BIG10 teams in will lead to closer games is crazy when the 3rd best are getting stomped too. Also the same guy saying he loves home games for the higher ranked teams which is a massive advantage. Nothing in this sport was ever set up to promote parity
Even Alabama's former QB said that this was the right 12 teams in the playoffs, and not batting for the SEC. He said wins matter. Georgia Tech shows how bad the top team SEC team by taking them into 8 OTs. If Georgia lost? They would be 10-3 and would get the 4th seed, Boise State 2nd and ASU 3rd. Us fans of Boise State and UCF heard this before from Kirk Herbstreit for close to 20 years saying we don't belong in the NY 6 Bowls. Boise and UCF made Kirk eat crow. Boise beat Oklahoma and UCF who beat Auburn who beat Alabama knocking them out of the CCG, but still got the fourth seed and win it all. The true champ that year was UCF.
THIS IS REALLY MORE OF A QUESTION! AND why is it swept under the rug? WHEN Carson Beck got injured(in sec title game BEFORE the final playoff selection), shouldn't that situation have been a major factor in Georgia moving forward in the playoffs, since Jordan Travis' injury was the "main/only" reason that a 13-0 FSU were left out of the playoffs? Didn't FSU still win their Conf title game with a backup QB, the same as how Georgia won their Conf title game(with a backup)? So why is Georgia not punished n left out of the playoffs bc their star QB got injured? I'm jus asking here, n not a FSU fan. Also when SC's great qb LaNorris Sellers went out in LSU game n didn't not play 2nd half, shouldn't THAT also have been applied, and been a factor in SC losing that game(that they were dominating), which gave the Gamecocks that 3rd loss n kept them from a 2 loss season n a certain playoff spot? Jus thoughts on that issue. Thanx
This is how the SEC and BIG10 leave any other conferences out of the show... no doubt. And I have news for everyone, there is nothing that can be done to stop it, except win the freaking game when we get the chance.
If we went by Kirk Herbstreit logic, Clemson wouldn’t have went to the National Championship and beat Bama and FSU wouldn’t have made back in 2013 and beat Auburn. Those results proves our point.

If the SEC road is to hard, go to a different conference and give up some of the extra money from SEC tv deals. SEC and BIG10 schools already have a leg up on the rest of the field due to $$.

I’m a Gator and think you do a great job and enjoy watching your show. You are dead on about Kirk. I used to love the guy too, but he has turned out to be a total corporate simp. He lost me when he cried on air about how they needed to do better about diversity. A grown man really cried about it like a coward begging for his life, although he was just begging to keep his job- it was so pathetic. And FSU did get screwed last year. One can never predict who the best teams are. That’ why they play the games. You have a playoff so that an undefeated team isn’t denied the chance to win it all. With a 12 team playoff you can expand that to not denying a 1 loss team the chance. But once you lose two games you should consider yourself lucky to get in and shouldn’t cry when you don’t. Do I think FSU would have won it all last year? No. But do I know they wouldn’t have? No. I remember back in 2006 when people said my Gators didn’t belong in the game against Ohio State and that they should have gotten a rematch against Michigan. I too fully expected my Gators to lose. But as it turned out, it was OSU that didn’t belong on the field with my Gators as the Gators totally dominated what people were calling the best OSU team in history. It wasn’t just domination, it was total destruction. OSU had like 80 yards total offense. Ah, those were the days… sorry, I was getting lost in remembering the good old days… But you get my point. You don’t know until they play the games. Wins and losses is how you determine who goes in, and then you just let them play the games and enjoy the show rather than constantly second guessing which 2 or 3 loss team could have done better.
Best 3 teams from 4 conferences and that should settle it. If you're 4th in your conference get over it. Interconferece play is more fun and better for the game anyhow. Of will spread the money and the talent out. Of coarse that's not what those 2 conferences want.
No, what will be funny is Georgia losing by 3-7 to ND and Yexas getting their asses handed to them by OSU or Oregon. Their best win of the year was against an overnatched Clemson team this past weekend. Tennessee was at least competitive and couldn't do anything against OSU. Of course, now we just proved Kiffins point for him.....Oh wait, these teams actually won the games they were supposed to, unlike a couple others that see it as their birthright to simply show up and play for a NC every year.
To say deserving is not important to say best is more important and choose the way you want to determine how you figure out the best. What are saying to these kids in school you earned your diploma but you won't get it cause this kid is better than you,BOLOGNA SANDWICH kinda like last year when bama got in ahead of FSU. Kirk you are an eye sore to the Buckeye nation for the last 8 to 10 yrs I've been not real sure if you are a real Buckeye but now I know for sure you should be ashamed of your self. On behalf of the Buckeye Nation and the Big Ten we apologize for this embarrassment kirk herbstreit
Herbie used to be a voice of reason on many topics. I believe he's hitched his wagon to Coach Saban and just wants to please coach and Reece (Bama grad). You could have read his comments and totally believed they came straight from Saban's mouth. Im a UGA guy and I get the fan bases outside the SEC getting sick of SEC bias. Now, I contend it's Bama bias more than all of SEC, but I get it. ESPN has financial interest in seeing the SEC succeed. FOX has financial interest in seeing the BIG10 win. Klatt is a mouthpiece for the BIG10. Overalll point is that alot of us have lost respect for Herbie and it's too bad cuz he knows football but has lost his perspective.
He's become a SEC jock strap rider, we all know he's referring to Bama not getting in but why not say the Vols didn't deserve it either, u won't hear that because UT is in SEC. I agree quality wins have to mean something but horrible losses also have to mean something
Yeah, I don't know. Fans see what they want to see. Look I'm not a Herbsteit fan, but agree or disagree he does have point. The first thing on the committee's list of criteria is strength of schedule. It does need to matter who you play and beat. The best way to know how good a team is to see them play a quality opponent. I'm not going to argue over who should have and shouldn't get in the playoffs, but the man has a valid point. I think they should just get rid of the committee and human bias, and just rank the teams using the BCS computer model. Or do something similar to basketball where you have an NPI rating based on quality of wins, and other factors. Record is secondary to those metrics. That's just logical.
The problem with this is there isn’t enough cross play between conferences to judge strength of schedule accurately. The SEC claims they have more losses because they are stronger too to bottom but there is no way to verify that without more games against other conferences. So it becomes a guessing game.
@@scotttaranto7870 I think most agree the SEC is the strongest conference. Just look at where the most top recruits go. Look at where the majority of draft picks come from. And look at who wins the most national championships. But regardless of where you fall on that, there are mathematical models that can calculate the rankings better than any human. We need to get rid of or at least minimize the flawed human bias. Basketball is able to do this with the NPI ratings. Football could do the same.
College football is the only thing the wins are what it's all about your losses and sometimes you can't help who your schedule is but you still got to get the wins shouldn't be about conference
Forgetting for a minute whether or not win/loss records matter (which is a ridiculous take in the first place), notice it's it's been a constant shriek of "who you beat matters", and never "who you lost to matters"? If who you beat is so important, who you lost to should be at least equally relevant. At time of selection, Indiana has only lost 1 game. That loss was to the #2 team at the time. That game was a road game for Indiana. That team decimated the Vols in a CFB game where style points were irrelevant. That team is now a 2 1/2 favorite against the undefeated team that was ranked #1 at the end of the season. Now let's look at who Bama lost to. Let's look at who Ole Miss lost to. These clowns are hypocrites. Bought and paid for shills. I'm glad they are getting exposed and sports fans are finally waking up. Now, I'm questioning the rankings of every Top 25 SEC teams for the past few years. Since those ratings are based on conference teams playing each other, how do we really know? Well, we found out last weekend, and I hope we find out again Jan. 1st.
What he said was spot on 100%! I don’t get what the blowback is? If you lose 3 games but lose to 3 elite teams, why should a team with 2 losses to bad teams get in over that team with 3 losses. This is embarrassing for this content creator. The only people whining about this are the teams in the Big12 and some of the ACC.
SMU lost to two ranked opponents. Both by 3 points. Indiana lost to OSU. Bama lost to Vandy and Oklahoma. One game was a blowout. And then lost another one. It is embarrassing that you didn’t know this before commenting. 😂
What's wrong with advocating for strength of schedule? A 7 year old can rank teams by W-L record. Isn't some nuance a good idea? 11-1 in a weaker conference with a weaker schedule is not automatically better than 10-2 in a tougher conference with a tougher schedule. What is controversial about that?
Strength of schedule is a great ancillary tool. Using it as a starting point is asinine. The question wasn’t about 11-1 vs 10-2 though. It was 11-1 vs 9-3 (this season).
I'm a Michigan fan and I STILL say FSU was robbed. If FSU players didn't opt out and beat UGA thoroughly I was actually ok with the national championship being split🏆🏆
ok fine, we won’t look at “wins”. let’s look at loses. alabama’s loses to Oklahoma and Vandy were worse than indiana’s to ohio state. or why even play the games at all? just let the media decide who wins every game each year and who the national champ is. that way nobody gets hurt and they save so much money on travel.
Kirk gonna need another emotional support dog by the time the internets gets thru with him. Troy aikman on mnf said IU deserved to be there and he's a hall of famer Kirk was average at best.
The groundwork was laid by all the recruiting classes and all the the the home cooking that went on with some of the the the the scheduling especially for Bama how they they refused to leave the state for like how many of the first 7 years of any kind of meaningful game I mean no there's been a whole lot of home cooking dirty s*** done between recruiting classes that don't make sense you know parking lots in the athletic area looking like a new car parking lots kids not leaving the program and it's been waiting behind other four stars five stars three stars which never happens unless you're getting paid I'm sorry but no it's dirty no tell Brian Kelly got his his his his his administration at Notre Dame got slapped for being dirty see him a lot easier to go down and deal with the Southeastern Conference and get away with that kind of s*** and young and saving got out as soon as the Niall became official cuz he wasn't going to be able to hold onto players now like before when he was able to
"Josh Pate isn't bending the knee to the SEC" Yeah the ACC does that enough Ole Miss destroys Wake Forest Florida destroys FS2-10 Three SEC teams beat the ACC champs Clemson Georgia beat Georgia Tech Vanderbilt beat Virginia Tech

What're you even talking about? Are you still talking about the cfp you didn't deserve to be in last year with your 3rd string qb? Jfc how miserable can you be? Best 3 teams from 4 conferences and that should settle it. If you're 4th in your conference get over it. Interconferece play is more fun and better for the game anyhow. Of will spread the money and the talent out. Of coarse that's not what those 2 conferences want.
You know what is going to be funny is if Georgia does go onto win the tournament and does mostly with their defense.
Should play Kirk's little dance from last year backwards! 😊
Dont get caught up with wins is like saying dont get caught up with ratings. (IE ) tv that is
To say deserving is not important to say best is more important and choose the way you want to determine how you figure out the best.
Good points
I see Kirk Hurbstreight is posisitioning himself to replace Paul Finebaum 🤔... when that time comes lol
Kirk is a chump .
Look at Vegas power ratings and compare them to the seeding
Vegas power ratings are the most objective analysis of the rankings of these teams
Bookmakers care about one thing
Remember entertainment is first with them, hence,
(Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) ESPN.
1st.
Not ESPN it's called Disney
What he said was spot on 100%! I don’t get what the blowback is? If you lose 3 games but lose to 3 elite teams, why should a team with 2 losses to bad teams get in over that team with 3 losses.
This is embarrassing for this content creator. The only people whining about this are the teams in the Big12 and some of the ACC.
Who had 2 losses to bad teams?
Ole miss lost to 4 win kentucky
Tennessee beat top 25 teams. Indiana and SMU did not!
Go Flames!
Bowl games are blow outs an there matched up as good as you can . It happens
Please breakup espn monopoly on college football playoff and bowl games.
Kirk gonna need another emotional support dog by the time the internets gets thru with him. Troy aikman on mnf said IU deserved to be there and he's a hall of famer Kirk was average at best.
The groundwork was laid by all the recruiting classes and all the the the home cooking that went on with some of the the the the scheduling especially for Bama how they they refused to leave the state for like how many of the first 7 years of any kind of meaningful game I mean no there's been a whole lot of home cooking dirty s*** done between recruiting classes that don't make sense you know parking lots in the athletic area looking like a new car parking lots kids not leaving the program and it's been waiting behind other four stars five stars three stars which never happens unless you're getting paid I'm sorry but no it's dirty no tell Brian Kelly got his his his his his administration at Notre Dame got slapped for being dirty see him a lot easier to go down and deal with the Southeastern Conference and get away with that kind of s*** and young and saving got out as soon as the Niall became official cuz he wasn't going to be able to hold onto players now like before when he was able to
He’s becoming the new Paul Finebaum. Just a talking head to get views.
"Josh Pate isn't bending the knee to the SEC" Yeah the ACC does that enough
Ole Miss destroys Wake Forest
Florida destroys FS2-10
Three SEC teams beat the ACC champs Clemson
Georgia beat Georgia Tech
Vanderbilt beat Virginia Tech
He’s trying to do damage control now. Don’t buy into it.
I think Kirk is racist against Seminole Indians
Bro be smarter than that Indiana scored 14 points with under 2 minutes left that game was not even close!!!!
Yeah it wasn’t but they deserved the chance to play.
That’s the rules.
Winning record=you get a shot. Period.
& somehow they were still more competitive than Tennessee. =the point
Do u not realize a football game is 60 minutes not 58 minutes long
And fsu ran out the clock kneeling in their opponents red zone… both games could have had a larger spread, but his point remains valid.
So why was Tennessee in there? That was a bigger beat down
Plain and simple last year a 13 and 18 not being allowed to play while we inserted to Southeastern Conference or going to be Southeastern Conference teams with one loss each with bulshit it goes against everything that college football supposed to be about it's about the W's I don't care what curb Street says and Barry Switzer got it right when him and Kirby on the greatest college football teams of all time when curb Street told him that you know he was he was a quarterback in college and Switzerland right back right away not for us she wouldn't have been and look at the spare on his face was great can you go back and look everything turned around in 97 when Disney bought ESPN and from that point going forward the Southeastern Conference teams when the same amount of national titles and half the time they did from 1960 to 1997 and all you got to look back is Florida State 1300 being left out LSU beating Batman in the Southeastern Conference Championship game that year and Bama being allowed to play him again for the Natty that was b******* there's been a lot of Dirty Deeds Done and everybody acts like ESPN doesn't have that kind of control the second Southeastern Conference hangs their head on will we get the most of the most views the most views during all the championship games I got played that day it was funny the Southeastern Conference was the only one that didn't have another team competing against it during that time spot who who arranged that how was that set up that way you know who makes all the decisions view the choice spots for viewership at night and you know the Primo spots to the Southeastern Conference you know it's not hard to see manipulation going on here it's called Monopoly what's talked about they push an agenda they help you know spin spin up the Southeastern Conference to get the top preseason spots in the polls they help determine you know the talk on what you know which conference is better which teams are better despite what you might think you know I have some saying who goes to what bowls or tries the guy that I mean if it's at the Monopoly this is b******* Disney has corrupted this ESPN used to be about reporting sports news now they are about making sports news they're responsible for Oklahoma and Texas going to the Southeastern Conference to help weaken the Big 12 if you want to see how classless the Southeastern Conference is the Big 12 commissioner and the Southeastern Conference commissioner were working together over the winter before the texas-oklahoma story broke and the guy didn't bother giving the Big 12 commissioner and he has up about what's coming on media day which was a totally classless is it Monopoly the doj needs to look into it because there's there's no serious s*** going on
It's all about the 12 most deserving. Not the so called best 12.
What're you even talking about? Are you still talking about the cfp you didn't deserve to be in last year with your 3rd string qb? Jfc how miserable can you be? I'd say part of the reason he called out indiana is because cignettis mouth makes you think about them! You're grasping lol the fact you made a video about this is actually sad. IDGAF HOW MANY GAMES YOU WIN IF YOU DONT PLAY ANYONE!!!! Why is that so hard to comprehend? Smfh cope harder bro
Yep, it was a staged take.
Indiana would have lost by 50 to OSU
But Indiana lost to OSU by less?????
Who cares. It should really be the best 3 teams from 4 conferences..
They literally played each other and IU lost by less….
@@DoubleFriesNoSlaw ya but theoretically Indiana should have lost by more 🤣
Did u even watch the game that was played in November, Indiana put up a better fight than that trash sec team😂😂
😭
Good lord bro you're a fraud lol KIRK IS RIGHT!!!!! I'd much rather have seen Bama in and I f'n HATE Bama but it'd be a better game because they're a better team and if you can't see that obviously there's no helping you anyways 🤷♂️
Brain dead comment.
FSU didn’t deserve to get in a 4 team playoff. Get over it…when their qb went down, they weren’t one of the best top 10 teams…let alone 4.
They earned it. It’s called merit. Something our society used to value. And something we desperately need to get back to. Not everything should be about what brings in the most money for already silly rich people.
Well never know
@@Southsidechild08 top defense, held Louisville who had a good offense to a low score in championship even though Louisville had more opportunities to score since fsu offense couldn’t move the ball. Could have been competitive, shouldn’t be deciding games before even played.
FSU didn’t deserve to get in a 4 team playoff. Get over it…when their qb went down, they weren’t one of the best top 10 teams…let alone 4. Also, you guys need to try to figure out how to wiggle your way back into good graces with the ACC because there is no SEC or BIG
Brain dead comment. 😂
For a team that wasn’t good according to you, why did they go 13-0 with a 3rd string quarterback?
@@DoubleFriesNoSlaw Stop crying. your 13-0 team didn't even dominate their regular season competition like Indiana did.
Enjoy your 2-10 offseason
@@WalkerSportsLoungelmao brain dead comment
Well never know
Another point is if during the regular season you play 1-3 of the best 12 teams and you lose to some of them wouldn’t it stand to reason you’re not the best of the 12 but like maybe 13-15? Why not give Indiana the shot cause they haven’t been able to beat the best 12 while you’re team lost to them already? Why would people wanna see Georgia vs Texas, Georgia vs Bama for the 3rd time this season. We already know what happens during those games. We sure as heck don’t know how Indiana woulda fared or SMU so giving them the shot was 100% correct
Indiana’s 10 points wasn’t really 10 points. There was a late stretch that made it closer than what it was
