    Yuko sensei really insists on not to use みじかい together with height. Makes me wonder is saying *男の人はせがみじかいです。* the same as calling someone a *Midget* ?

    • @YukoSensei
      @YukoSensei  5 лет назад +5

      Nelson-san, good question. I insisted not to use みじかい to describe human's height simply because it doesn't make any sense in Japanese. It is a typical mistake by English-speaking learners because they do use the adjective "short" for human's standing height but not us in Japanese.

    • @YukoSensei
      @YukoSensei  5 лет назад

      Marcelo-san,
      Kono "this" otoko "male" NO (the particle that combines two nouns) hito "person" means "this male person = this man" in Japanese.
      I hope this is what you are asking.

    • @mirtham2372
      @mirtham2372 5 лет назад

      rolo puente Hola rolo! Lo que la profesora está diciendo, es KONO ( Este) OTOKO ( Varón “masculino”) NO (posesivo “ como decir de”) HITO ( persona) ES COMO DECIR ESTA PERSONA MASCULINA ( hombre). y WANES LO QUE MARCA EL TOPIC; como decir, “ con referencia al hombre...” espero que allá aclarado un poco. Y la única manera que puedo explicar la diferencia entre WA y GA, es en Ingles.. WA se utiliza cuando estas ablando de algo o alguien que es nuevo en la conversación ( como “A” en Ingles, y GA ya a sido esta Liza do de quién o que estás hablando; ya se sabe de quien o de que te refieres ( el equivalente de “THE” en Ingles) toma tiempo, pero con el tiempo lo vas a llegar a entender! Suerte!

    • @mirtham2372

    Is it possible to describe people like this: この男の人の髪は低いです。

    • @YukoSensei
      @YukoSensei  5 лет назад +1

      bugrerさん、No, it is not possible because we don't use the adjective 低い (low) for hair.
      Even if you used 短い (short) instead, the phrase この男の人の髪は短いです (This man's hair is short) sounds like you are specifically describing his hair because the hair 髪は is the topic in the sentence. If you want to describe the man 男の人は as the topic, it has to be この男の人は髪が短いです。(This man has short hair) I hope this helps!
