I would like to go there in January. I heard it is pleasant there that time of year. Average high is 67.

Death Valley Subverts the 2nd law of thermodynamics in that entropy doesn't increase, hot doesn't go cold. The weather's hot 24/7, just in the afternoon, the heat can be fatal.

In the Northern Cape South Africa, I have been out in temperatures of 40/50* + . And guess what? It is normal! My personal best is 58.6* .
As the Earth moves through the Milankovitch Cycles, so of course the Earths climate will change. It is a dynamic system.
Why do we have Siesta Time in summer? To combat the warm period in the middle of the day.
