Don't just drive through New Brunswick... but fill up on gas

  • So did you know New Brunswick has the BIG CIRCLE DRIVE? Neither did we... but it does and this week we'll show you. We couldn't decide what to do during our last week in NB so we decided to just do it all. Detours became common place each day as something else would pop up and we'd say, sure... let's do it! And this week we learned that not only are our RAD eBikes not waterproof even though they're under a cover... we learned their service, even for ambassadors, leaves a lot to be desired. And Owen needs to be very careful with how much gas we have before he heads out across dirt backroads.

    Hello Owen, Lynn, and Maggie. Just viewed this recent upload of your time in NB. We've been without internet for a week or so now and it's good to catch up with Van Trekking Lifestyle. Thanks for posting our picture with you guys. It made our time there more special. We are back in the good old USA again and after a week in Acadia NP, we somehow have crossed NH, VT and now are in NY. Hope to see you again on the road somewhere. If we never go, we will never know, so we're still going.

    Thanks for the blast from my past. In the late 1960s I lived outside of St John in Rothesay. During my time there I spent exploring NB & the rest of the Maritime Provinces. I fell in love with the east coast of Canada & it’s people. Despite now being well over 50 yrs later, I’m sure y’all will have amazing adventures. I still can picture the beauty I found there.

    This brought back great memories of our recently completed 12,000 mile trip. We loved the Hopewell Rocks. Oh, we have an appointment with our local Ford Dealer for a wheel alignment along with an oil change. Feel lucky not to have blown a tire or bent a rim on some of the pot holes we literally fell into. On the plus side you get better mpg because you have to drive slower! You will love PEI!

    We laughed at the section of the video as you drove from Mirimachi to Grand Falls. We did that same road (in reverse) when we visited from Ontario in early July in a rented class B. We thought the van cabinets were going to fall off the walls!
    We will be watching with interest as you cruise very familiar landscapes in the other Atlantic Provinces.
    A note on pronunciation - with Newfoundland it is challenging to get the emphasis on the correct syllables - you say it in the same fashion as “understand”. So Newfoundland…understand…

    Have you been to the Bay of ? I watched VanCity VanLife walk up to and cross the center of the bridge at a tidal change. If you want to see something super fascinating go during the peak tidal change. The current is astronomically fast and has such a drop/rise at full/slack tide that its something to the tune of 90 ft difference. Chrome, the RUclips channel I mentioned did the tour last summer and let me tell you what I saw totally amazed me at the rate of the water current going through under the bridge. The rocks on either side show high tide mark within about 45 minutes of tidal change. Hope you'll give it a whirl. Happy trails and safe travels to ya'll and Maggie to!

      Are you referring to the bridge in Maitland, Nova Scotia perhaps? That is where the Shubenacadie River and the Bay of Fundy waters meet and they have raftering tours that ride the rapids created when the tide comes in.

    • @user-lg1gj3li9j
      @user-lg1gj3li9j Год назад

      @@dorisbetts3012 yup that is what I was referring to, but if you go to VanCity VanLife play list from his summer travels last year, he was at a spot that was a very narrow inlet where the water was ocean water before the muddy river water came to meet the ocean. The dates were somewhere from mid July to mid August when the post was released. Mind you Chrome posts a daily 15 to 20 minute video, so I would look for the Bay of Fundi or highest tidal change in the world. Chrome usually does his homework to quote as accurately as he can, but then again he loves quirky stuff to so sometimes its off the cuff then he finds a local to tell him about his finds and does a voice over to give you info. It's his enthusiasm at seeing something he has never encountered before that keeps me coming back every day to see what he's been up to daily.

      @@dorisbetts3012 I don't recall the bridge name but it was a narrow inlet of clear ocean water before it meets the muddy waters from the ocean. Solid rock on each side with high water marks that were mind blowing at the rate of inflow from the incoming tide posted with warning signs that stated the dangerous current and no swimming allowed and Chrome's enthusiasm at seeing something new only in Canada, no where else in the world. It's in his summer travels from last year between mid July and mid August, he posts daily so I would search for it using summer travels - Bay of Fundi mind blowing or only in Canada.
