It's so sad to see this school in it's current state because I looked at an image of Oakman Elementary from 2009, and it was a very beautiful, well-kept school. I also found an inspiring article about it's principal, Cheryl Price. It mentioned Ms. Price's quest to improve the reading scores of her students, and how a new reading program was showing great promise at the school. It's such a shame how things fell apart so quickly.
Yes. Oakman was really well built. I’ve explored a few more schools since this one and the thing I notice about this school is how well it was built. Thanks for the comment.
Place looks like a castle or fort from the air! Says it was an elementary/orthopedic school. Maybe a prep school for future orthopedic surgeons or doctors. You know, when Detroit actually produced exceptional professionals?
I like the design of that school as well. It does seem bigger than some of the other schools you've explored.
