Keep the videos coming. I watch a lot of people on RUclips that’s rebuilding semis. My dream job is to drive but since I’m deaf it gonna be harder to drive. Keep the videos coming can’t wait to see what you do
No there was no way to see all the damage online in pics. You'll see in the next video how deep the damage goes. I've got my work cut out and recording every bit of it.
You really need to take those caps off and inspect those mains. I would be willing to bet you you going to have some scratches on a few of those mainstream, looking at the amount of debris in the the back of that pan.
Check out the new video. I don't like to spoil the next video, so I didn't respond to your comment until I had the video done. But you weren't wrong about checking them.
Do you have any idea what happened to this truck? I think I'd drop all the bearings to at least have a look. You don't want to spend too much money on that engine before you know if it's good. Cats can be really good long lived engines if you take care of them, but parts are so damned expensive. I was running a 3406 E back in the early 2000's It ran good but started leaking coolant into the oil. I pulled the pan and pressurized the cooling system and it was dripping coolant out of #5 cylinder liner where it seals to the block. I figured if I was going to have it that far apart I'd do an in-chassis. Then I noticed the cam was starting to go. Now I'm pricing parts and Cat is over 10K, aftermarket is like 8K and that was back in 2005 and I was dealing with a good rebuildable core, no damage, crank was perfect.. I bought another truck, a LTL9000 Ford with a cummins for 5K from a fuel company, 250,000 miles good tires, everything and was back on the road in 2 days. I still run it, It's in my garage hooked to a trailer just the other side of my office wall where I'm sitting right now
Looks like another truck came over and hit him and it caused him to possibly hit another truck which plew the front tire out and then I think it went down into a ditch and possibly hit something hard. Hard to tell but most of the damage is down low. I'm gonna be showing the engine and dig into the real problems in a couple days.
You bought a wrecked truck but don’t want to spend $500 on a used pan due to lack of funds? I can’t wait to see how the rest of this project turns out if you can’t afford a oil pan
Yeah, so where are you getting a $500 pan from? And how much do you think it'll cost to ship a 5ft long, 20" wide, 50-pound oil pan? Ebay cheapest rear sump (can't be a front sump) used oil pan is $900 BEFORE shipping and taxes. If $500 ain't much to you then just donate it and send it to me. And like @pc4x4 said, all it does is hold oil. And to add to that, why is that a big deal considering EVERY drag/race car has a fully welded aluminum oil pan and some of those cars have 4000+ hp and rip down tracks at 9k rpm. So why can't I just weld up a little ole hole in my oil pan?
Well it’s hard if he spent most of his money buying it,gotta stack bk up to fix it,I feel him cuz I got a 06 w900 sitting in my backyard waiting to be rebuild
Your guess is as good as mine. I think it's some type of copper color, but I'm not sure. It's custom, so when I get ready to paint, I'll probably have to do a plethora of spray outs till I can match it.
@tossedsalad5532 thanks for the info. I'll check that for sure. I'm gonna take it to the paint store and have it scanned and that'll get it pretty close and then I can try to adjust it from there to get it to match. Won't be easy but just needs to be close.
Do not weld it. It's not worth it. This is a very important part of your engine. I work with cat engines a lot. This oil pan is $500 used all day long. I have one i can sell it to you. Also, you need to pull main bearings and replace them.
Thanks I appreciate it but I'm gonna save that money and put it towards other parts needed. Putting the video together now showing oil pan. I called everyone within 200 miles of me and they either didnt have one or they had the pan for $900 and up used. One guy told me $1500 for a used cat oil pan. I told him he was crazy.
Used oil pan is $900. I'll use that money for other parts and things. Welding will be basically free. Video dropping tomorrow showing some other details.
This is.a nice rig

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯

Spray the rusted nuts with 3 to 1 ratio atf and acetone let it sit overnight nuts will come loose
Thanks

What is the color of the Kenworth ? Aztec Gold or other paint color do you know paint code
