I have been eating potatoes for more than 70 years and never had a clue what a fragile, labor intensive crop they were, including all the specialized handling equipment, and storage requirements. They have to be one of the best values in a supermarket. Videography is not only first class but also has a highly educational component to it. Another great video from the A team of potato farmers 👍🏻
Your focus and concentration in the cab of Pig Pen is obvious. There is a lot going on there to pace the harvester and keep the alignment. Great job gearjammer.
You look so professional behind the wheel of that truck just love watching potato farming and I can see it in your eyes that you put it over 150% of your job. Husband is lucky having you as His right hand man
I love how you explained things as you brought us along from ground prep to storage to bags. Potatoes are a beautiful crop and I always felt there was magic not seeing them until out of the ground. So versatile in preparation for the table, and relatively cheap. Thank you for sharing, thank you for gracing our tables with your magic.
Hello Molly, Aunty Michelle and all the crew. Sadly I have put the bike in the hay barn for the winter😪. I had one long last ride up north to Parry Sound, Ontario for a “boys nite”. Foliage colours were spectacular and the weather was perfect. After seeing your drone footage and seeing the leaves, I must say, I was very temped to take a demo bike from my inventory, fake a cold and book it down there. If you recall my 3 husks of corn story, I was thinking of adding a Potatoes in the Saddlebag, (potato salad??) chapter. lol..Nothing to declare? ahahahahah Nope! Keep up the great videos. My visit was and still is one of the highlights of my vacation. Stay healthy and safe! Peace, Biker Mark.
My ancestors were farmers in southern Illinois after the Civil War. Small farms, 100 acres or less. No machinery, just people and animals and basic equipment. I wonder what they would make of modern farming? All the powered equipment and technology, like video on the Spudnik to see into the load trucks. It would probably seem like magic to them. Thanks for the video, Molly.
i agree. not the major production that some are, just good honest vid's. BTW, i love the music at the very beginning, I just think it's cool. i get to head bobbing when I hear it. Thanks
Another Class A video Molly. I found the aerial video especially beautiful because it showed the foliage as the leaves are changing colors and form a great background showcasing the beauty of Maine in the fall. Does look a little tight and demanding to do storage in those bins. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. Must be great to have all the extra free time 😁. Just wonder when you all get to just relax a bit.
Hello Molly Bells There are large farmlands that are harvesting potatoes, compared to the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, the potatoes are harvested directly from the land by car or truck, which is useful if you work in the company of everything, a handy woman, have a good weekend until the next vlog.🥔🚚🚜
This video takes me back about 30 years in San Diego. There was always some sort of heavy construction going on with large loads of different materials on one of the major cross roads. At a stop light I stopped next a double dump rig and in the drivers seat was this very pretty young woman with a similar hair do to yours, she looked down at me looking up and smiled. Thanks for the memory.
Great video Molly, you’re getting so good with editing, and I loved the music! I always forget how much works involved with harvesting potatoes, you and Shane do such a great job, hope you guys enjoy the weekend! 🍁
As @pdoherty said. I was just commenting to say wow. The production quality just continues to improve and the content is so on point :) Loved seeing the harvester making 4 rows into one. First real good shot of the inner workings. Excellent video as always!
Another well edited/produced video. I checked out the Rocky Mountain site. They just don't have a Molly. I'm waiting for your first million view video. It is getting close.
Spudnik. Appropriate name for that piece of equipment. I think these potatoes look like the ones that go into my Burger King fries. This spuds for you!
Thank you for sharing this story of Mr potato head large farm beautiful fall colour awesome lots of moving parts you two make a great couple love 💕 from Canada 🇨🇦
'Really expert driving, careful hauling those "taters", "great" maintenance on your truck. Seeing all that you do, makes me "love" potatoes ever-the-more. Thanks for another wonderful video, I "liked" this video too...
Great vlog. We use ‘bean ladders’ to minimise cracking in bean crop similar to your strategy of reducing the height of falling product to minimise bruising (n spuds. Autumn colours creeping in. Thanks for the video.
So Molly is out in the field all day and Shane is playing video games all day. 😂😂. Another great video. Beautiful taters. You have a great farm going. So much hard work. Very nice drone video too. Autumn in Maine. It doesn’t get any better.
years ago, while in Germany ( working as a mechanic with my German friend Ralf, " putting yachts to bed for the winter.." ) i was amazed and delighted by the wonderful golden potatoes that Ralf`s mom, Gertrud, mashed up and cooked for us...( had never had golden potatoes before..) wonder how i can get some Bell Farms potatoes here in texas? (looked at the sacks of potatoes here, and they mostly all say that they`re from east texas... hm...
The rigors of moving storages , The constant awareness of not running over the cord and pulling it out of the box . One time that happened to me . I instructed my helper to unplug the cord and move it to the next plug . Little did I know he would go plug it back in while I was stripping and making the new ends . Needless to say it was electrifying , I fired him on the spot . The rest of the crew was standing around wondering WTF is wrong with him , I looked like the cartoon character , Yosemite Sam ... Oh the stories I can tell ... Thanks M&S , always enjoy ....
Running over the cord…… if I had a dollar for everytime I did that, wouldn’t be potato harvest without repairing cords now would it hahaha. ( PS I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one whose done it )
Of course knowing nothing about all the work that goes into potato production i know they’re delicious. !! The years passed were entirely different with this process. I hope all the Bell Family have videos up above (in heaven)and see how this generation are proudly keeping their farm alive and thriving…. Love this family….
I used to haul potatoes from the field to the storage wharehouse and help sort them on the conveyor and a few months later haul them to simplot in grand forks north dakota to made into McDonald's French fries and simplot hash browns
Morning Molly see you have the special boots with toe cap tyre pressures they are very common every driver as one boot weather it be left or right xx 😂😂😂😂
Great video, have you done a video how the potato digger works the machine which loads the trucks, I'm understanding the digger digging the potatoes and dropping them between the rows. Thanks for sharing your video.
We grew fresh market potatoes for 7 years here in eastern Washington The first year we made a lot of money the last year we dug them into dump trucks and dumped them on a concrete slab and feed them to our milk cows . We had the very high & very low prices ! ! !
Molly and Shane! Another great video! Molly you are making tremendous progress with driving the truck. You will be a pro in no time! Do you think you will get all the harvest before halloween? I heard an old tale that if a farmer didn’t get their harvest in by Halloween whatever was left on the fields belonged to the fairies! Will you be feeding the fairies? lol have a great day!
Until some years ago, school was out in Aroostook County for two weeks in the fall for older kids to get in the potato harvest. They used potato forks to get them out of the ground and then toss them into 55 gal wooden barrels. Real hard work. Getting those barrels onto flat top trucks took more than one person and was really grunt work.
As a teenager I liked working the tater house and bin piling seed potatoes. Once I learned to drive Standard truck transmission I loved driving trucks even more. Never heard of Yellow potatoes in Maine. Worked for farmers that planted reds, round whites, and Caribou Russets.
I have been eating potatoes for more than 70 years and never had a clue what a fragile, labor intensive crop they were, including all the specialized handling equipment, and storage requirements. Yes the Tubers are fragile when they come out of the ground
Nothing beats the dedication and rhythm of the harvest! Watching those whites and yellows get stored so carefully is oddly satisfying! 🚜👏
Thank you Molly, Shane, and team! Loved the drone shots. Loved the colors of all the trees!!
I enjoy watching the drone shots, they put the scale of the operation in perspective.
Your focus and concentration in the cab of Pig Pen is obvious. There is a lot going on there to pace the harvester and keep the alignment. Great job gearjammer.
Hey thanks! Hahah
Molly always looks like she is having Fun...and Getting It Done!!!
Great video Molly. You definitely take pride in your work on the farm and certainly with your videos. Thanks for bringing us along.
Such a cool process!! Thanks for doing what you guys do, keeping us all fed!!
Shane is very hard working person and well experience in all farm activity.
You look so professional behind the wheel of that truck just love watching potato farming and I can see it in your eyes that you put it over 150% of your job. Husband is lucky having you as His right hand man
Equal PARTNER! Equal rights!
Not right-hand man - equal partner!
I love how you explained things as you brought us along from ground prep to storage to bags. Potatoes are a beautiful crop and I always felt there was magic not seeing them until out of the ground. Molly, you were right about Rocky Mountain and what an operation they have.
Another well edited/produced video. I checked out the Rocky Mountain site. They just don't have a Molly. I'm waiting for your first million view video. It is getting close.

Anytime I eat any potato product, I will be reminded that Bells Farm might have grown these.

👋🏻😉 just stopping by to say hi!
Hello from Brunswick, Maine, US. October 25, 2024.....
You love jeans, I love jeans, we all love blue jeans!! ❤
We grew fresh market potatoes for 7 years here in eastern Washington The first year we made a lot of money the last year we dug them into dump trucks and dumped them on a concrete slab and feed them to our milk cows . We had the very high & very low prices ! ! !

Girl, you do an EXCeLLent JOB!
Now "That's a dipstick"! Isn't it more comfortable to tilt the Steering wheel down (lower). Just wondering.
If you hit the '4 way flasher' prior to checking tires you can also see if you Brake and Turn lights (same element) are working. Love your attitude.
I actually moved the steering wheel up so it was more like driving the pete. I like the older trucks better :)
