    I have a simpler way of doing this (mental computation without wring on the board). Just focus on the fractions 1/4 and 2/3 and convert them to their LCD (least common denominator) equivalent, 3/12 and 8/12, respectively. Now proceed with addition of the whole numbers 5 + 2 = 7 then followed by the fractions 3/12 + 8/12 = 11/12, Finally, combine the two results -> 7 11/12.

    I’m a homeschool mom, my daughter is only 5 years old and currently just working on simple addition! But math from 5th grade onwards wasn’t my strength…so I’m trying to re-learn math from 5th grade to algebra 2 and geometry. Not all at once but just during free times. I actually feel much more confident. I did some by myself and realized I could do it! My daughter will have other resources like RUclips for help. It’s just nice to use technology for the betterment of our children’s education and future. Maybe I won’t hate math anymore and it will encourage my daughter if she grows to hate it, hopefully it comes easy to her!

I have to love it. Now I teach my fourth grader fractions, long division and equations. I couldn't have done better. I can say I love math now. We dance when ever we work math problems with my son. And now he is also beginning to get much better. Say to yourself you can do it. Then practice more often . Make it your hobby. • @Nasrya_
    @Nasrya_ 6 лет назад +29

    Simplest n easiest way
    Add da whole
    5 and 2 which is 7
    Then multiply da denominator
    4×3= 12
    Cross multiply (1×3)+(4×2)=3+8=11
    So its 7 11/12

    Things that make kids uncomfortable:
    -When the teacher walks by their desk to check their work and they say something like "ok, do you get this?" or "so what you want to do is..."
    -When you don't have your hand raised but they call you anyways like SATAN
    -When you don't have your hand raised to answer a problem, you answer it incorrectly, and they explain it to you in front of the entire class
