I'm creating this game inside an existing presentation, but because we selected the 'Brouse at Kiosk' option, I'm unable to navigate the other slides. Is there any solution to this?
You can use a hyperlink button in all slides for next and previous. Else, not keep browse at kiosk, and just be mindful of not accidentally shifting slides.
Hi! I have a macbook pro and I was trying to design the scoreboard, but I don't have the developer button and I am also unable to right click in order to add the developer button. Is there another way to add it?
That's the kindest thing anyone has ever said in recent times in my RUclips Comment Section! Glad that I was able to help you out make a Jeopardy Game in PowerPoint!
Wow!! This was amazing! I wish I would hv seen this first. I just built my board all the way out (5 categories with 100, 200, 300, 400, 500) and all the questions! I thought,“Hmmmm…why isn’t this working?” The animation features didn’t allow me to do what I wanted to do because I was unaware of the SLIDE MASTER! 😂 I’m going to give it another try as you’ve demonstrated. Very tedious but strangely fun! Thank you so much for a great video!
Excellent tutorial. I learned a lot. Question: Can Slide Master macros call on, display, or modify values stored in a different slide? Could you have the running scores (stored in the question/answer slide template) displayed in a separate menu category slide? I couldn't find a way to do it.
Let's take this scenario: 1. Sub ABC() stored in SlideLayout22 2. Sub XYZ() stored in Slide4 If you want to call ABC in Slide4, you'd have to refer to it as: SlideLayout22.ABC If you want to call XYZ in SlideLayout22, you'd have to refer to it as Slide4.XYZ In this current video, all my ActiveX Labels (P1, P2) are stored in SlideLayout13. If I had to refer to P2.Caption in any other place other than SlideLayout13, I would mention SlideLayout13.P2.Caption instead of just P2.Caption. To re-iterate, we must add a prefix that contains its stored location whilst calling it from some other module/slide/layout. I have explained it in this video too: (from 9:40) ruclips.net/video/iCPc8yaLDGM/видео.html
Thank you so much for sharing this content. I have to do a team building activity for my colleagues, and even though I can do simple PPT presentations, this is a bit out of my depth. Awesome tutorial!!
The ActiveX Label gets 'duplicated' in a multi-monitor setup when the resolutions of both the screen are not the same. A simple fix would be to 'duplicate screen' instead of 'extending it' or just disconnecting the second monitor for a bit. However, a more permanent solution is to use shapes instead of ActiveX. The code for the same is here: pptvba.com/scoreboard#shape
Let’s say you also had a scoreboard on the category screen. What would you have to do for the code so that when you increase the values on the questions slide, it also increases on the categories slide?
Really like this tutorial, but I can't make the scoreboard work. Any idea what it can be? Any underlying settings that might block it? I changed to enable macros, but still not working.
Hello, can you check if the macros are enabled? (Developer > macro settings > enable). Then, do crosscheck if the counter names are correctly set (case sensitive). Also, feel free to download the jeopardy file for free from my website. You can crosscheck the issue that is occuring.
@@PPTVBA I’ve finished everything and the scoreboard isn’t working for me. I deleted all the activex labels and remade them again. Still not working after I set the macros for each box. Is there another way to do this counter without using activex?
I don't get it. My settings are, that the box dissapears, when i click on it. Than it performs the action, that I'm going to the next slide. But when I get back to the first slide, the box is reloaded and still there.... what I'm doing wrong :(
Can you send me your PowerPoint file? I can have a look. My email is present in the video description. Also, what version of Microsoft Office are you using?
We have free downloads of this game available in the website. The most common error could be that the name of the Label and the name mentioned in the codes might not be matching - do note that it is case sensitive.
Hello, Thank you a lot for such an amazing tutorial video. I don't know you could happen to find this comment and answer my question, but I have a little problem i hope you can help me with. I've set the 'disappear' animation on the dollar box the same way you did but strangely the object keeps coming back everytime I go back to the main selction page after playing a round of games. I've searched google and tried to figure out what's wrong on my own but I failed. I wonder if you have any idea about this problem.
This is the jeopardy video. The codes for the Jeopardy game can be found on my website. If you're referring to the Quiz Trivia MCQ game, that's on the website too. I don't have a Family Feud Game tutorial out yet.
Hello, I am using Microsoft PowerPoint for Macbook v 16.48. I did an add-in to get the developer tab. However, I do not have a label button. Do you know where this is located? :(
Hello! Sadly ActiveX elements such as the label is not available for Mac. However a easy workaround is to store the points within an Integer Variable and change the text of a normal shape to equal the value l Integer Variable. I'll write a blog post about this this week.
I purchased the template yet I cannot use it. It will not allow me to go from question to question, press the START button on the page, or award points.
Hi! No need to fret. This is because macros on your computer might not be enabled, causing the interactive features to not work. Please check the walkthrough video shared in the Google Drive. If issues still persist, please email me with a screen recording of the issue. I'll be more than happy to jump on a quick zoom call to help you out too. Thanks!
This occurs when a dual monitor set-up is present and each screen has a different resolution. You can disable the dual monitor set up while presenting the game.
Please confirm if your trigger animations are set properly. This template is available for download on my website for you to reverse engineer it too! Thanks!
Incredible video you have my subscription, the quick question I have for anyone is that the player score duplicates on mine anyone know the formula I need to erase the duplication
Hi! That occurs when you have multiple monitors. Instead of using the ActiveX Label for the scoreboard. Try this: ruclips.net/video/wmkNUhjf57E/видео.html
Great video! I have Microsoft PowerPoint version 16.43 and I cannot find the developer ribbon and tried other online search which mentions activating through the "options" tab in the home screen but, my powerpoint format does not have an options tab. I created the entire presentation including writing the codes for the points using the 'visual basics editor' tab. But since I don't have the developer ribbon, I am not able to add points to the players. Can someone help with this? TIA.
I didnt even know power point could do something like this, cool. Is it possible to do Jeopardy on Power Point 7 or does it need the newest version 360, which i don’t have?
Heya! Just have a new slide after every question slide. Add a button in the question slide with a hyperlink to take you to the new answer slide. Add a button in the new answer slide with a hyperlink to the first slide where all the question values are present. I hope this helps!
Similar to the code we have for +100, +200 and +300. You can make one for reducing points (instead of the plus symbol, use minus symbol) and have another shape to run that macro: Sub P1Minus100() P1.Caption = (P1.Caption) - 100 End Sub and so on!
Hey! I downloaded the free version but the score is stuck on 300 and also it wont let me add points please help!! And also I cant seem to reset the scores.
Thank you so much you did an awesome job explaining how to make the jeopardy game and I was able to make a really cool game all by myself! Thank you for the tutorial!
Hi! I was trying to follow your video, but I couldn't add the Developer page into powerpoint, and I was wondering if there was another option for this?
That's amazing to hear! You're an awesome teacher for making the classes more fun and interactive. I appreciate that very much on behalf of your students. Thank you for checking out my tutorials!
Great video... it worked! Any suggestions on how to create a video question link... like they do on the real show. If a questions is selected, an option to click on the question and watch a short video question that I create.
Bro I need help, every time I create a Label, when I enter to the show mode it appears duplicated (for example two labels for Player 1 and two Labels for player 2, instead of 1 label each). Do you know how could I fixt it? (It only appears duplicated in the show mode).
This is a very common error with ActiveX elements which occur when you have multiple displays. I prefer to use Shapes and I change the text of the shape via VBA. Dim L1 As shape Set L1 = ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes("entershapename") L1.Textframe.Textrange = int(L1.Textframe.TextRange) + 5 -- So the above is an example. Conclusion: don't use ActiveX elements, use Shapes. Also, the text of the shapes don't get changed in time if shape is in slidelayout*** Now, place the shape in all the slides and use a for-loop so that it gets updates everywhere. I also have a premium template on my website for the same game which doesn't use ActiveX elements, which is up for purchase!
@@PPTVBA Do you have a video on how to do this? Or can you break it down a little more? So, are you saying add a new shape, then rename it (in my case I did "T3" for Team 3) then paste the code you used above: Dim L1 As shape Set L1 = ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes("T3") L1.Textframe.Textrange = int(L1.Textframe.TextRange) + 100 I did this and when I go to the +100 button on the question slide, that macro is not listed. Thank you!

this was great! no issues following your steps Thank you! How can I have the answer pop in? I am doing this for a class of kids so it works better for them to see the correct answer not just hear it.
Hello! We can add another slide right after the 'clue slide' and type our answer in the new slide. In the clue slide, add a shape that takes us to the next slide (actions > mouse click > hyperlink to > next slide) And in the new slide where you've typed your answer, add a button that takes you back to the Jeopardy Menu! Thank you very much. I hope this helps! Your students will love it!
@@PPTVBA - It sounds simple - so this would change the numbering of the slides and I would need to go back an redo the hyper links to the home page right? thank you so much!! - UPDATE** Nope as I added the answer slides it adjusted. thanks so much!!! kids love this game and it helps them review what we worked on.
There's a button next to the paid file saying "or get a free basic file?" which opens up this link: pptvba.com/download-jeopardy-powerpoint-game-with-scoreboard/ There's a big "Free Download" button on the bottom of that page.
Thank you for your videos. Its very easy to follow! I wanted to ask if you can make a memory game that when you click on the correct answer, it brings you to a hyperlink (to another slide) that gives info on the answer. Life for example you click the correct animal picture - Cat, it then goes to another slide that has info on a cat.

Yep! We can definitely hyperlink it to another answer slide! I also have a premium template on my website where all these + more feature such as 8 player scoreboard + music/sound + wagers and more.
This is a very common error when multiple screens are being used. To fix it, use normal shapes and change the .TextRange of the shape to change the text within the shape. All the counter have to be on the normal slides and not in slide master.
@@CAPAConnection use this code: ActivePresentation.Slides(slidenumber).Shapes("name").TextFrame.TextRange You'll need to use a loop to update the shape in multiple slides. Also, I have a premium template which would work out amazingly for you! Do check that out its on my website.

I created the entire presentation including writing the codes for the points using the 'visual basics editor' tab. But since I don't have the developer ribbon, I am not able to add points to the players. Can someone help with this? TIA.
Which operating system are you using? Windows or macOS?
I didnt even know power point could do something like this, cool. Is it possible to do Jeopardy on Power Point 7 or does it need the newest version 360, which i don’t have?
It works in Office 2007 too!
This was super easy. How do you add the answers to the power point ?
Heya! Just have a new slide after every question slide. Add a button in the question slide with a hyperlink to take you to the new answer slide. Add a button in the new answer slide with a hyperlink to the first slide where all the question values are present.
I hope this helps!
I also have the free template on the website thats updates with the answer slides!
Waw. Love it. I took quite a while creating this but was successful. I was wondering, how do we deduct scores when persons answer incorrect?
Similar to the code we have for +100, +200 and +300. You can make one for reducing points (instead of the plus symbol, use minus symbol) and have another shape to run that macro:
Sub P1Minus100()
P1.Caption = (P1.Caption) - 100
End Sub
and so on!
Hey! I downloaded the free version but the score is stuck on 300 and also it wont let me add points please help!! And also I cant seem to reset the scores.
Please enable macros and editing for the codes to work!
Go to developer > macro security > enable macros
Yoo, this is amazing. Thank you so much. Very very helpful.
Thank you so much you did an awesome job explaining how to make the jeopardy game and I was able to make a really cool game all by myself! Thank you for the tutorial!
You're very welcome! Please do subscribe and let me know if you'd want tutorials on any other games!
@@PPTVBA sounds good! thanks again :)
I have done this but whenever i share it thru ms teams the game doesnt work its just the first slide that i am able to share
Are you referring to sending the .pptm file to users or sharing your screen?
Hi! I was trying to follow your video, but I couldn't add the Developer page into powerpoint, and I was wondering if there was another option for this?
Hi! Are you on MacOS by any chance?
@@PPTVBA Yes, I am on OS and having the same issue.
Thanks so much it made class more interesting since it's all online now a days I just want to give you a million likes
You can insert the video question directly on the question slide!
Can't bealieve this is soo easy
It definitely is!
Dim L1 As shape
Set L1 = ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes("entershapename")
L1.Textframe.Textrange = int(L1.Textframe.TextRange) + 5
--
So the above is an example.
Conclusion: don't use ActiveX elements, use Shapes. Also, the text of the shapes don't get changed in time if shape is in slidelayout***
Now, place the shape in all the slides and use a for-loop so that it gets updates everywhere.
I also have a premium template on my website for the same game which doesn't use ActiveX elements, which is up for purchase!
Bhavesh Shaha AWESOME it worked!!! Thanks a lot bro! 🙌🏻
Thank you for the help and fast respond! 👌🏻
Ay anytime bro! Would appreciate if you could leave a review for www.pptvba.com on TrustPilot! Thanks! www.trustpilot.com/review/pptvba.com
@@PPTVBA Do you have a video on how to do this? Or can you break it down a little more? So, are you saying add a new shape, then rename it (in my case I did "T3" for Team 3) then paste the code you used above:
Dim L1 As shape
Set L1 = ActivePresentation.Slides(1).Shapes("T3")
L1.Textframe.Textrange = int(L1.Textframe.TextRange) + 100
I did this and when I go to the +100 button on the question slide, that macro is not listed. Thank you!
@@jeanniehitchcock3345 you'll need to add those lines of code within a subroutine:
Sub nameofthecode()
'insert code here
End Sub
dayum nice, i need a take a powerpoint class to learn all the nooks and shit of the program
Ikr, this software + the option to code VBA is opening up so many doors. You can check out my website where I have a catalogue of the stuff that we've been able to create in PowerPoint.
Thankyou so much my friend
Thank you so much...I didn't know how to prevent the slide to go to the next one when arrow buttons are pressed, but I know that now 😃
Glad to help! Browsing the slide-show at a kiosk is a game changer!
@@PPTVBA it is indeed...any chance you know how to apply this to Google Slides?

this was great! no issues following your steps Thank you! How can I have the answer pop in? I am doing this for a class of kids so it works better for them to see the correct answer not just hear it.
Hello! We can add another slide right after the 'clue slide' and type our answer in the new slide.
In the clue slide, add a shape that takes us to the next slide (actions > mouse click > hyperlink to > next slide)
And in the new slide where you've typed your answer, add a button that takes you back to the Jeopardy Menu!
Thank you very much. I hope this helps! Your students will love it!
@@PPTVBA - It sounds simple - so this would change the numbering of the slides and I would need to go back an redo the hyper links to the home page right? thank you so much!! - UPDATE** Nope as I added the answer slides it adjusted. thanks so much!!! kids love this game and it helps them review what we worked on.
the download is not free
There's a button next to the paid file saying "or get a free basic file?" which opens up this link: pptvba.com/download-jeopardy-powerpoint-game-with-scoreboard/
There's a big "Free Download" button on the bottom of that page.
Thank you for this walk through. You don’t understand how much you helped me.
I shall definitely look into this! Thank you!
Gorgeous slides

Can there also be a slide that shows the answer to the question?
Yep! We can definitely hyperlink it to another answer slide! I also have a premium template on my website where all these + more feature such as 8 player scoreboard + music/sound + wagers and more.
What version of microsoft office are you using ?
2019 mondo

Make sure you have the full version of Microsoft PowerPoint installed.
@@PPTVBA Thank you, I realized I wasn’t switching between the normal PowerPoint and
…the slide master. It worked perfectly once I followed the instructions carefully.
@@vuhnessak7003 Perfect! Glad that it worked out!
Thank you for this tutorial. The score counter is showing up twice for me. Is there a way to troubleshoot that?
This is a very common error when multiple screens are being used. To fix it, use normal shapes and change the .TextRange of the shape to change the text within the shape.
All the counter have to be on the normal slides and not in slide master.
@@PPTVBA How do I change the text range of the shape?
@@CAPAConnection use this code:
ActivePresentation.Slides(slidenumber).Shapes("name").TextFrame.TextRange
You'll need to use a loop to update the shape in multiple slides.
Also, I have a premium template which would work out amazingly for you! Do check that out its on my website.
