@@Cindee-Schnitman im not a doctor but there could be an issue with your meniscus(fibrous cartilage) in your knee joint. Alternatively it could be ligament problems. I currently have a tear in my Meniscus so im speaking from just the research that I've done over the past few months. Im too scared to go for surgery thats why im still sitting with the issue just btw. Hope that helped
Dr. Gill, if you even read the comments, I don’t know if you’re making these for ASMR or education at this point but from a student, it would be awesome if you could reiterate some of what you’re assessing while you’re doing it (ie. patellar reflex, anterior drawer test). Your assessment skills are lovely btw!

@@Latetedehoy I don't know if you've got it checked out or what the COVID situation is for you now, but I just wanted to suggest communicating over phone calls, video or email if nothing else - it's better than nothing! You could detect problems, or your doctor could see that you might have an urgent problem and push for tests or visits (done as safely as possible).

so the first video i watched before this was the hand examination and i'd just like to point out the improvement on the sound. On the last video there was a "bump" in the audoo whenever you cut the video, but with this one the sounds continues smoothly. That's pretty cool!
Isn't one leg usually longer than the other because of how we walk. We lead with either our left or right foot so we lean on a certain foot more. Therefore changing the way our legs need to grow as we get older
They will be different length, but it’s much simpler than that. We’re just not symmetrical. But significant differences can still throw off the kinetic chain and cause aches and pains

Are you able to ask for an ultrasound perhaps? That might show if there's something in the muscles that won't appear in an X-ray. I had monoarticular arthritis in my left knee last year - the ultrasound found excess fluid around my knee where the X-ray showed nothing at all. Unfortunately there was no cure - I just had to wear a knee brace until it healed 😅
I don’t want the attention to the legs, because... you’ll stand, it’s already in the brain mechanism you’re about to stand. It’s the head / neck relationship, and then you just bend the knees. Quite quickly.
I don't know about the relevance of these sorts of exams or of knee problems in general, but checkups done even without obvious symptoms _are_ important - health problems often have little to no signs but timely detection prevents them from progressing irreversibly or even lethally - take cancer for example. There's an adage about this - "prevention is better than a cure".
Hi Dr Gill. I had reconstruction of my acl in 2015 where a hamstring graft was used. Since then I never been able to achieve full flexion and do have significant tightness when stretching the knee during flexion after warming up. I occasionally during the colder weather get a dull ache deep in the knee and it's rather uncomfortable where the surgical bolt sits in the shin holding the graft in place. Any possible reason why its difficult to improve flexion despite regularly stretching?
Flexion, ie bending the knee needs a full movement of the ligaments and tendons, if there is shortening it might restrict movements I shattered my elbow a few years ago. Even though I did all the physio, it won’t fully straighten, likely due to a shortened bicep ligament. Any surgery can induce scarring, which simply doesn’t stretch as well. It’s always worth whilst discussing with physio, but they might not be able to make huge changes due to the time frame since the op Hope that helps

I’ve got a question Dr Gill, my knees crack/make cracking sounds with almost every movement. It’s been like that for years now, I am only 19 though. My knees are slightly turned towards each other and hurt after driving in the car, especially the left knee. My doctor said there is nothing we could do about it, is that true?
Go for an MRI scan if possible. There may be an issue with your tissue in the knee. Possibly a meniscus tear? Dont leave it unattended please, you have your whole life ahead of you.
As someone who’s gone hilariously flying across the floor when getting up from squatting because my knee didn’t come with me and for which has popped my knee out of place in so many strange/hilarious ways I cringed just seeing them get on and off that table so quickly, haha, if only it were that easy for me still. Gotta love hereditary joint problems…

Told a doctor my left knee hurts chronically. They did not do all this. Just sent me for an xray. Long story short my knee still hurts like hell.
