Yesterday I acquired siemens 273a for like 50 euros, and started doing research about these units. Then I found your channel and I'm almost as glad as when I found the listing for the siemens ;)
Luckily I got one in pretty good shape except the back panel (which was butchered to the point when it looks like swiss cheese now with all different inputs, outputs, jacks, XLR, RCA you name it, it has all I guess). I've put that aside for a while now, but I've got the spark to redo the messy I/O panel and set it up for work. Nice stuff, thanks!
I was meaning to replace those dreaded DIN jacks too. In the end I just built a couple of adapter cables because I couldn't be bothered with the drilling / metal works. I hear you :)
Sure! Wind up "monitor" knobs on the main channel(s). Monitor Out goes into an extra channel. Then on this channel, also wind up "monitor" - this creates the feedback loop. Consoles react quite differently to this technique. Most will start with a piercing whine, the Vermona starts with more pleasing low ticking pulses..
@@3str dub technique B- ) i also use it with the auxes of other mixes and the fun really happens when you do it for example with a tape delay and a revebr and send the channels aux for the tape delay to the reverb for that slapback effect
what a great yt channel!!
Absolutely filthy and delicious !

Awwwe that's kind.
You're motivating me to finally finish the next video - it will feature another old mixer that's kinda cool.
Stay tuned..
Oh and congrats on sniping the U273a - that's a pretty neat deal.
@@3str yeah man, keep it going! really liked the format
Really like the new format you got there :) Though it would be interesting to get a bit deeper in the schematics ;)
Thanks for the kind words.
I'm trying to post videos more regularly and there will definitely be nerdier / more in-depth stuff :)
Hardest working‘ VU-meter needle in showbiz!
I also like that part where not a single fark was given. (the whole damn video!)
No farks given indeed :))

Moin, shout outs! I would like to know, how you did the internal feedback with the monitor? thanks for this inspiring video.
