Mutas taking map control, preventing terran early game BS and punishing terran greed without the risk of a roach/ravager all-in. Ragnarok showing us some decent strats!
Man, Spirit's last push in game 3... I've never seen 120 army supply look so sad and helpless; from 120 to 50 in the span on 10 seconds, with a nearly 4000 resource income difference (basically not mining at all at home), that was almost sad
I really don't know why Winter always calls them a "muta-risk" when virtually every game in which they're featured demonstrates them completely demolishing whatever hapless Terran or Protoss opponent the Zerg are eating.
@@WoobertAIO They still win almost every single pro game (that is casted at least) when they are used. Sure they die in a heath beat, but they are super fast, they keep opponents army at home, and zerg is super fast as well as a race. So you can choose to lose all eco, or camp in base while zerg out eco you with 700 hatcheries. Do to insane defensive scouting it is hard to send small squads to the enemy base to harass, and even if you do the mutas will just slaughter your medivacs
@@MrZiva82 yeah, but that's the thing. They are used when they are used because if you use them at the appropiate instance, you basically win the game, otherwise you just wasted enough minerals and gas for a single squad of mutas to make several squads of zerglings or hydras and you lose in the following retaliation. Therefore they're a gamble.
@@Phileosophos yes, and mine does too. Our arguments aren't mutually exclusive. Mutalisks are far too valuable and require too much skill to justify their use in every match. They're like the Mothership in the sense that you either read the game perfectly then make some and you win, or you read the game wrong then make some and you lose. It's a gamble, in a game where there's almost no RNG involved. Therefore, a risk. A Muta-Risk, if you will.
Mutas are just to squashy vs the all around units like marines and stlaker; I would give them either one extra base armor or give the first and 2nd air armor an extra armor.
Stalker deal quite a bit of damage per hit, so armor doesn't work against them. While voidrays & carriers would have a much harder time against mutas. Marines would be slightly worse against mutas but so would be turrets, bcs, vikings, thors (and cyclones if they were changed). Also marines already perform so much better than any other terran unit, so one should rather shift power away from them, than to buff a unit that it's meant to counter them anyways. I would prefer a lower initial investment for mutas and cheaper but even squishier mutas. As in comparison banelings cost 25/50 to deal aoe damage once. And zergs don't claim banes are too expensive.
@@dontcallthemliberals3316 Bigger swarms would be very risky vs thors, widow mines and storm. This change would most likely mean swarms of a similar size but we would see them more often/ multiple swarms. Against terran, I think they would be used similar to marine drops/zergling runbys. Against protoss you could see big swarms against non-twilight builds since both stalkers & phoenix lose against overwheling dps.
Man I wish mutas were better overall. They just don't have the time to deal the mid game economic damage or pressure, nor the value to be used as a late game unit with how the game is right now.
series like this just make me more and more annoyed at banelings. name another unit that can singlehandedly swing an entire game as quickly as a pile of banelings. really glad they're getting some kind of nerf in the upcoming patch.
Terran: Best T1 unit in the game, best overall unit in the game, best caster in the game, best heavy unit in the game, best macro potential with unlimited scans in mid to late game. Also terran: Plz nerf zerg and toss they are too strong :(
Zerg has being op since the stone age, wtf are babbling about. Best eco, best scouting, best run by potential, fastest, burrow for ALL ground units... Repositioning 3 to 0 compared to other races, see everything always (scans are temp and cost you the mules), 15 lings can eat a base in seconds, larva make it possible to remax into different comp almost instantly (and do to zerg eco you can), especially after sending 20 banes to wreck enemy eco while you fighting in the middle of the base...
One day Plat leaguers will discover that the number of Liberators you would need to do that would halt Medivac production and cause the Terran to instantly lose the game 😂
@@josuepereira9782 would not know about that, i just make statements based on the pro games that i observe. Maybe what you say is truth, maybe not, but i doubt that you based it on facts mate, sounds more like something to say based on preferences instead of data, but that us internet i guess

28:53 "Getting the mutas as quick as zerganly possible" I love it
I've been watching you for many years, thank you for keeping StarCraft alive.
Winter and GiantGrant, single handedly keeping SC2 alive
that was a pretty great series. gotta love those scrapy like games every once in a while.
Jimmy is doing a great job managing all these numbers.
He knows his job is on the line.
Spirit remembered mines in game 3, but made banshes from start....tztz
As 1/3 zerg i had to smash the like button and be but one of at least 1125 likes. Thanks for casting

Why do Zergs always forget to get Adrenal? Cracklings are so much better than regular lings...
Because their race is OP
@@Joppsta360>mfw zerg cabal got every zerg unit nerfed in ZvT
We need some toss buffs :3
Pool has no lair tech. Cracklings are good but they really are easy to forget.
don't always need them, they are op enough
I remember in 2011, DRG multitasking 2 flocks of mutas at the same time. Miss the days of ling bane muta.
Three widow mines in the mid game of the first match would have totally turned this around
I miss the "it's so stupid it hurts!" Sample.
I decided to hold off on this one to watch it during work today. Was very much worth it! Good match
You make me want to download SC2 and stare at the play button for a couple hours

Really enjoyed this one. Always nice to see something a bit different in style.
Every fight I take vs a zerg with marine tank medvac ends with a billion ling bane absolutely crushing everything 😂
Hydraulic and mutas are just so expensive for something that insta dies to mines, storm or even just a 50min Rhine.
Jimmy is a rockstar 😂🎉
When will we get a Jimmy vs Winter game?
I actually got my popcorn 🍿 for this one 🤌
Winter can you add a squeaky toy sound effect when zerg attacks the chew toy depot
Liking and commenting before watching. I hope there’s mootas on this game
Game 1 was actually really tight
Painful watching adrenal glands be forgotten lol
Thank You

Because they cost way too many resources and they're made out of paper in SC2

The Mootas!
Ling bane counters marine so hard it makes me usually prefer mech vs Zerg
Never understood why muta ling bane ever got off meta. Almost a freewin against bio terrans
This is some classic pesky Terran refusing to die

Spirit had the better build, just didn't execute it well enough.
Curious on why no widow mines, pay off seems always worth it vs ling bane
Well, he did built mines, just to late. I expect he doesn't like them & they don't naturally fit into his built.
