Yet another nostalgic trip for me. In early 2016, the hotel company I worked for transferred me from Berkshire to their property in Aviemore. There as a resident and being over 60 years old, I qualified for my Scottish Entitlement card, which allowed me free travel on all Citylink / Megabus services across Scotland. These services linking Aviemore to Inverness were far quicker than the local bus services, and on the intercity services, they matched the train times, but at a fraction of the costs. The A9 route as covered on here is a really spectacular route to drive on, with such a broad range of views, made more memorable in wintry conditions and with snow on the hills and mountain peaks. I see some of the sections being built when I was there are now complete and all the better for drivers as it used to be a really awful road years ago. Thank you for yet another superb video.
An absolutely beautiful trip through The Highlands, enjoyed every km of it! Visited the area in 2017 and drove on some sections on this road, but it was still a pleasure to admire it again, sitting on my couch. Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you for posting this up. Last time i did this journey it was all the way to london. Lost count how many times ive done the long haul. We have made around 20-30 sleeper in the last 6 years.
Here in tipperary south of ireland drove the coaches around europe brings back the memories ended up on the trucks near retirement now really enjoyed video 👍
Nice view- thanks these are relaxing :) I've just driven up the A9 on my way to the NC500 in my Electric Car. I charged and stayed the night at Pitlochry - on Saturday :)
I've been up & down the A9 plenty times on hols. Good road & will be completely dual carriageway to Inverness or Dornoch. Love Dornoch, & also to Gairloch area.
Sounds nice and I might not make it to Scotland but the American view is nice as well cuz I'm taking my bus in Florida for $1 so I like Megabus thanks for the video and thank you for sharing your experience I enjoyed it and I'm getting back into it after what's going on for a trip okay but I know one thing I'd be wearing my mask and being safe I hope you are too and have a great day
It's a long, long road the A9 between Inverness & Perth. Over 100 miles between the roundabout just outside Perth to the capital of the Highlands. All the lay-bys are numbered though there's well over 120 of them. So', if you were unfortunate enough to run into difficulties & were forced to pull over it's important that you can quote the lay-by number helps them get to you all the quicker.
Great video and I get to see the scenery for a change as usually driving, nice to see some areas where I have been, especially the Broxden Jn area, the Travelodge is our overnight stopping point on route to Inverness from Somerset. Will do it again when this pandemic is passed. Many thanks for sharing
At 08.02 the idiot in the red van is in an acceleration lane where he should build his speed up to that of the traffic on the A9. His dithering caused the coach to slow and lose speed which he won't get back because he's on a steep hill, so please be aware of other traffic and get up to speed before entering the dual carriageway.
Having travelled on that route, it's a long steep climb out of Inverness for road traffic, but the road entering from the junction has an extra long lane designed to allow emerging motorists to build up speed to match the main two lanes. Sadly, some drivers don't get the message! That van driver just got in the way and brought the coach speed down drastically. On occasions I knew of coach drivers moving into the outside lane well before that junction "just in case" that type of incident occurred, allowing them to maintain maximum speed up that long drag.
As a former coach driver I became resigned to this sort of thing. It happens so often. Did you notice that clown actually sticks his hand out as if to say 'thank you'? He had ample opportunity in that entry lane to gauge his speed but his concentration was obviously not on his driving.
This acceleration lane is not very long and before this, there is a difficult junction and a 90 degrees turn to access this acceleration lane. Sometimes a driver on this lane needs to think twice when seeing another car on the inner lane as could be unsure to be able build up a sufficient speed on time entering a carriage way. It's just a tricky bit of a road. I can also guess that this small van is old with not enough power.
1:35:53 Just when you are having a quiet pee by the side of the road, a bus with a camera drives by, and thousands of people across the world can see you do it ! :)
I am thoroughly enjoying these videos. Especially from the best seat in the house so to speak. As a 24 year career bus driver forced to stop due to ill health its wonderful to watch...... no idea how you hide all the unnesercary noise One question.... what day of the week and which departure from Iverness was this recorded.... Thank you
Thanks for the video I enjoyed this video and I know how megabytes is a great ride and a reasonable price taking the bus soon here in Florida for $1 a little more to come back but it's worth the trip so thanks again and I know one thing for sure where my mask and be safe and to all who I make a bus have a great day and thank you mega bus okay
Greetings from America, specifically the environs of Chicago, here in the vast interior of the United States. We have Megabus in America, but I have never tried it up to this point. After enjoying several of your videos I am definitely going to do so. Thanks for any number of wonderful videos of a part of the world that I don't know if or when I'll be able to visit in person. These trips give a view of the towns and cities, and the countryside that a ticket on British Airways or be United Airlines never will. One question: do you have any trip plans for Ireland, or through out the rest of Europe? Ohh, feel welcome to come here to the states if you're considering doing any trip videos in the U.S. I'm sure that they'll show us in a good way!
What type of camera are you using and how are you keeping it on the windshield. I live in the US, and would like to do this for the Megabus fleet in the US.

An otherwise nice journey spoiled by endless roadside litter, especially around Perth. This isn't how probably the most beautiful part of the UK should be looking. Such a shame.
Are you actually serious? A bus ride on the A9 - the most boring road in the Highlands! 😂 This does not showcase the Highlands or the scenery folks. It’s a bus route on an ‘A’ road, you’ll find nothing of culture, heritage or history from this crap…

I did it one month ago and will do it again in 14 days' time. I loved it as it has been 18 years since the last time.
Sooooo relaxing & the trip hasn't cost me a penny! Inter City type buses are really cheap. Edinburgh to London under £20.
Without the car sickness too
This is great. Just like being on the bus but without the annoying passengers. (Or getting anywhere.)
Must be a nice one for the driver having some lovely scenery to drive through.
Och aye the noo. 😉

I live in Inverness and at times I don't much like it! Funny how different it looks on camera. You can forget how beautiful it really is out there! ❣️
Wow, your Mega buses are way better condition than the Canadian Mega buses!!
Inverness to Glasgow via the A9 is 168 miles and via the A82 past Fort William is almost identical at 167 miles.
A82 is much poorer road. Don't know anyone that goes that way
A82 route takes about an hour longer. Lots of nice scenery though.
Only about 120 by air.
@@ronniel5941 but there is no flights. Still faster by train

I did notice with the shots at the start that it's quite an ageing vehicle this particular Megabus. 62-reg = 8.5 years.
Brilliant. Hope you do Inverness to Elgin or Aberdeen.
