I still run a 12-year-old LG in my spare room, and as expected, much has changed since then! Love the overall interface and options with this QNED75 TV but I think I'd like to go higher-tier when the time comes. Great review as always Steve!
@markh351 Please read this. It's worth the time. I just discovered something VERY important after buying my first 4K TV (a 50" LG QNED75) and it's this: 60Hz panels are actually BETTER than 120Hz panels. The reason is simple. TV and movies have always looked great on old CRT TVs that ran at 60Hz. As LCD TVs brushed them aside, they added features like motion smoothing to simulate 120Hz (and even 240Hz!) to reduce "blurring" during fast-moving shots like live sports (it didn't really do anything). So then some genius introduced 120Hz panels and told consumers that it resulted in less blurring for action sequences. BIG mistake. Now that the screen refreshes 120 times/second, there aren't enough frames to fill it. The picture stutters and jumps and it's basically unwatchable. So turn on the motion smoothing. Problem solved right? No. Now we have a new one that can't be corrected properly.. Motion smoothing techniques like frame interpolation fill the gaps but no matter how subtly or aggressively they're applied, there is always a "soap opera effect" to some degree. So the look that filmed/videotaped TV shows and movies have had for decades is gone. Instead the picture looks unnaturally smooth. Ironically smart phones with 60fps video look more life-like. The only downside to 60Hz panels is that because the industry has deemed them inferior, they aren't as many with high-end features like FALD and mini-LEDs. There are some but you have to look for 'em (Hisense is one but quality control is atrocious). Plus some have a form of motion-smoothing that's on all the time and you CAN'T turn it off (TCL and Samsung are a few). So you have to make a decision: a natural looking picture at a cheaper price but with less features or a "higher-end" model that looks stunning but completely unnatural. I'm keeping my LG QNED75. It's not perfect but it does look very good. Watching content the way it was meant to be viewed is very important to me. I suggest getting a TV at BestBuy and if you're not satisfied then simply return it and try another. REMEBER: LG has "TruMotion" and "Real Cinema" on by default. Turn off TruMotion FIRST and then you can turn off Real Cinema if you like. Real Cinema can actually come in handy when watching 24p content so try it and see if you like it. I actually keep it off. Good luck with your choice. Cheers!
@@EsteemedRepresentative Thanks for the reply. My TV's are always mixed usage mostly between movies and games.
