Exactly my thought, "good luck" after that since the warranty is no longer valid. On the other hand if you are comfortable opening up the controller you might just replace the analog sticks yourself since the same company who makes them openly said those parts are "consumables" and companies should make them easily accessible instead of spending thousands of hours designing their controllers. Lol
Do you add anything that makes sure the paint doesnt come off like a clear coat spray or something? Imagine getting sweaty hands while playing and the paint just starts to drip off lol

Applying a clear coat of paint before reassembling seems like it would work
