+Elijah Ealy I actually believe she does this deliberately because otherwise it would sound like she's yelling instead of singing. Basically, it sounds more like technique than straining. Brandy doesn't seem to try anything vocally that would be too difficult for her. I believe this is why she doesn't showcase her vocals like we want her to. She knows her voice better than anyone and if she's anything like me (in my opinion) she probably hates when "singers" yell and call it singing. Probably why people think she's a mediocre singer as well.
