When is someone going to talk about Pickford kicking the ball long every time only to return the possession back to the opposition. He did it whole tournement.
His shot-stopping and clutch penalty saves have been great the past few tournaments but his distribution is generally poor. It's an issue but not the biggest by far.

I agree with Turkish, the average technical level of English players will simply never be that of Spanish players for many reasons, but it’s mainly the football heritage the countries have and how different they are. The most technical English player is probably with the level of very good Spanish player. And like Turkish said very good technical English players come around much less often than very good technical Spanish players. For example, a player like Allison Becker plays goalkeeper in the style that he does due to his Brazilian football heritage and that is what makes him so unique. Ederson also … they just don’t make English players the same way from youth levels …
Pretty sure if Declan’s Rice stayed at West Ham, the view would be he was one of England’s best players this tournament. He was a good shield for the back 3.

Some people are criticising poor individual performances from the likes of Rice and Walker to excuse Southgate... WHEN THAT'S ALSO ON HIM ffs. Look at the total minutes played for all outfield players at the Euros - the fact that Stones, Walker and Rice were even allowed to play EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of England's entire Euros campaign is an absolute disgrace.
That's 7 games, 2 of which went to extra-time.. that's 690mins which averages to 98mins per game! Saka, Foden, Bellingham and Kane were also the only outfield players to play over 600mins this tournament. Guehi clocked up 570mins and he was banned for 1 game. By comparison, not ONE single outfield Spanish player played as many minutes this tournament as Guehi did - Cucurella is closest at 546mins.
Luke Shaw, who's barely played for 5 months, ended up playing more minutes than Gordon, Bowen, Wharton, Watkins and Toney COMBINED - that is shockingly incompetent and irresponsible management.
Purely for the sake of this team's health alone, Southgate should be sacked.

Some weird logic against Rodri winning the Balon d'Or and it's clearly because they just don't want a City player to win it(not that they will admit it). Haaland and Rodri both won a treble and both had fantastic individual seasons, yet it was given to Messi for wining the international tournament. Rodri won the PL again and the Euro's itself, while being one of the very most important player for both teams. With no Messi or Ronaldo shouts this year, this is the basis of Rodri having one of the strongest shouts for the award and it's completely justified. The season/year he had more than equals Bellingham and Rodrygo's title and CL... Who didn't have nearly as big an influence in the international tournaments for their teams. The moving of the goalposts is so evident, yet the culprits always gaslight and claim it's City fans who are biased... It's pointless debating with them, they argue in bad faith always.
To be fair Carvajal won the La Liga, Champions League and Euros so does he deserve a shout too? Plus it depends on what's viewed higher between Euros and Champions League because both Vinicious and Bellingham have La Liga and Champions League and I see some Real Madrid tax playing a part.

I am going to come with a few comments here mostly about England, but the only team to have a more fugazi run than England this year in Cup competition is Argentina.
Colombia should have put them to the sword in the first half, and I say it as someone who much prefers Messi over Ronaldo. Messi going off was a bad thing for Colombia. Scaloni got his subs right, so fair play. Also, no extra time, but for the final is stupid, but it kinda sums up this clusterfuck Copa America well.

How do you say Southgate just tries to fit in everyone then cry the moment they say a player should be dropped? i.e. Foden
England heritage is poor level coaching staff. Most English coaches don’t know how to relate to young footballers. That pub guy cheeky chappie talk doesn’t work with kids. These kids need coaches they trust and can relate too. To learn from and take instruction. It comes from the very top. That’s where the problem lies. Those Stuart Pearce John Terry harry redknapp type of coach doesn’t work in 2024.
Maybe the selected players are more used to play possession football then counter attack football. When stones were asking Pickford to pass the ball instead of kicking it says everything. Foden, Rice, Kane, Saka, Walker all play possession football for their clubs but in England the tactical decision changed to counter. If you playing counter we need speed at front. I think it was a mistake to leave players like Sterling, Rashford and Madison. We obviously needed speed and a number 10 like Madison. Ultimately Southmate needs to go. Bringing a possession based coach would be perfect for the current players. Just a thought
