What is My Conscience and How Does It Impact My Life?

- What is the role of our conscience from a biblical standpoint and how can we learn to relate to our conscience in a healthy and fruitful way? How does it impact mental health, especially those who struggle with toxic guilt, shame and obsessive compulsive struggles? In order to address this, I need to bring out what the conscience actually is and bring biblical application to how it is used. I also want to ask the question, “Has your conscience been hijacked by law, chronic guilt and anxiety?” Then we will look at what fruitful living looks like in regard to how you relate to your conscience.

Conscience has become hijacked through false guilt: It’s devastating, such bondage.
I wish I would’ve heard this teaching years ago. I suffer from migraines now for the last 8 years because I thought God was informing me through my conscience, but it was false guilt tied to my past. About 7 different triggers before I realized it wasn’t God. My past, lack of understanding of Gods word plus subtle legalism in the church I attended for years all contributed to it.

Hey Mark, thank you for this video, is there any video about the black and white thinking about freedom and zero condemnation? Because i genuinely struggle to live in complete freedom and without condemnation, as i really feel that i am gonna fall into sin and live in lawlessness. You address this in your videos and in your books but i just genuinely don’t know how to answer to this, how to grasp and comprehend this “not connection” between grace and lawlessness. If there is no and you’d like to go deeper into this topic i would really benefit from it, and i think also many other people will. Thank you

I've never thought about this but now I realized that I feel uncomfortable and guilty when I don't tip.

Life after life
As a POCD sufferer with hopefully just false memories, I don't know where conscience stops and the OCD begins. 😞
I know what ima say is perfectionism and ocd but i just want to be perfect for God even though i know it’s impossible because i want Him to love and accept me.
Hey Mark, I’ve set standard on myself based off of being weak in certain areas but have since grown much stronger by the grace of God I was wondering when exactly is the right time to break those standards and walk freely and participate in certain things I’ve stayed away from?
How bad was my ocd if i was projecting my own sexual struggles onto my girlfriend... at the time and at the same time i was making realization saying to her that I need to learn the grace of God... smh i was embarrassed after this thank God for introducing this channel to me
I feel shady around some church people. Because there are MANY areas in the life of me and my family that needs new life breathed into it. And I can't force it to happen. And I'm tired of talking about it with people who give the sense that they "have it all together." I surrender it all to God. Because we need to be SAVED out of this mess. It's too big for me.
Can you do a video on this? Here’s an area I struggle with- My partner and I both consider ourselves Christian. But I feel like I’m way more committed to the walk with Christ. I go to church, he doesn’t find it to be a priority in his life right now. I lead prayer, he doesn’t initiate it. We watch sermons online but I always have to ask and he says “Sure.”
I constantly hear about being equally yoked with your partner and the need to have a Christ-like relationship.
I am so anxious and worry that this is an issue that could jeopardize our relationship. I love my partner and want to marry him. I don’t want to break up with him but this makes me worry that I shouldn’t be with him if this is an area of our relationship we seem to be working on…
Hey I’ve been really worried over the sabbath day and how we are supposed to practice it especially since their are many interpretations and I feel like my ocd really goes crazy with this subject so can you please make a video on this
I totally get that! I just remember what Jesus said about the Sabbath being made for man and not man for the Sabbath. The Sabbath is a time for us to set other things aside and rest and worship. It's a gift, not a command.
Mark, do you have any suggestions for like the fear of death? I know I am saved, but I have always feared death since before I was saved. It’s like an anxiety that has stuck with me. I get that the problem usually isn’t the actual problem, but I was just wondering if you have any words for me. Thank you
That's usually where most fears lead to, so you are in good company with those of us who are seeking to heal and overcome. Don't argue with it or try to solve it, but embrace the love that God has for you in the midst of the vulnerability

This is not biblical. Jesus tells us to deny ourselves not keep our eyes on ourselves so we can sooth our own feelings. We fix our eyes on Jesus!!! Our worth + value in him. Nowhere in Scripture are we told to speak affirmations over ourselves. We are to pray to God!
