Yeah i swear my cousin hit a dog with a razor on christmas while we were driving on a public area and the dog literally ran at us out of no where and yeah it was pretty sad but still it derserved to get hit because 1: it basically asked for its own death by running in front of us and 2: the dog owners gate was wide open and the dog had no leash so yeah dog owners need to learn to close or leash their dogs

These damn owners need to be fined HEAVILY for negligence, reckless endangerment, and animal abuse. Seriously. Not only do they risk the lives of their pets but ALSO the lives of the motorcyclist. Moving fast on a 2 wheeled vehicle and having to swerve or stop suddenly can end VERY badly for the rider and for the animals.
Depending on the severity of the crime, the owners need to be banned/suspending from owning animals.

Dogs are so easy on a motorcycle. When you see them coming out toward you; intentionally slow down just until the point they get within about 10-20' from your bike, then accelerate past them. They can't react fast enough, nor can they accelerate their run to match the bike's acceleration.
I had never even thought about a loose dog attacking me on the bike. I had rehearsed every other imaginable situation. I live in Los Angeles, densely populated but not many stray dogs. I was approaching a left turn at a stop sign in a school zone, when all of the damn parents were trying to pick up their kids, a pit bull mix went for me on the left leg. I revved the v-twin but it only excited the damn dog. I figured I could make the left and then speed away from it. Too damn crowded for a maneuver like that while under stress and also trying to watch the dog. Down I went. The dog, it turns out, was not vicious, just instinctive. I almost attacked its thoughtless owner. He gave me more money than the damage cost. Next time, if I do not have the space to speed away, I will stop, and confront the dog. Kick it if I need to.
