The Skid Factory is what all of us more die hard technically inclined MCM fans have been craving for years. This is a massive success in my opinion. You guys do things right, and show a fairly high amount of detail. Plus it's genuinely entertaining. Well done!
Are you saying you're not satisfied with "we're putting in coil overs and an exhaust" every third video? This series is far more interesting than the last few seasons of mcm combined.
I was smiling from start to end with this video ahaha loved every min of it, and much like the stagea and the fairlane i will be watching this build again from start to finish, guess i'm addicted to the builds :D
Awesome work guys. Love seeing some 4wd vids getting done, still love the other content you've been putting up. Making me wanna move on to some power upgrades for my Gu patrol. Keep up the great work 👍
You don't need to have a load of smoke off boost. The compensator needs opening up and the main fuel screw bringing back down a little. The compensator will usually have an eccentric bar and you adjust it by turning it in the sleeve.
Loving the skid factory videos, especially this series as I'm a coal rolling 4wder myself among other vehicle related hobbies. Loving the patrol build even if I am an 80 series guy myself haha
Honestly this is great, not only did MCM become the best and most popular car show, but they found two other blokes who also Are awesome to watch, and do different content and there aussie to! Just making my long weekend that much better boys, got a mate with a td42 GU patrol and it’s a beast, going camping in it this weekend yewwww! Take care lads, doing a good job!
I was not a fan of any vehicle that was not a true or American before I started watching you and the MCM guys, definitely broadened my Outlook on the culture. Keep it up love the videos!
My TD42 GU auto will be ready today after a Garrett ball bearing turbo, cross country i/c and 11mm pump are fitted. Aiming for 180hp. Was making 120. Can't wait!
seriously though the 10mm socket is the only one anyone i know is missing..... its really frustrating..... meanwhile I have 3 i have picked up off the road at work but shhhh
it is... but it is also completely true- about all my ratchet sets are missing the 10 mm- an when you finally find one you need ANOTHER one to hold the fucking nut...
It's a stereotype on pretty much any forum where mechanics gather, but with good reason since the most often used items are the ones most likely to go missing, and most likely to be missed once they're gone.
Man I haven't owned a single tool set that I haven't had the 10 mil come up missing! They all end up running off to the 10 mil pub in the sky and never come back but then, I bet if I made my shop completely spotless I'd find some nice barely used 10 mils lying around that someone lost... Lmfao
This is epic Al and Woody! Congrats on making some seriously good content. Would love to do similar thing on my petrol FZJ80 landcruiser, something special about diesel 4bies. Now she's all ready for Fraser Island mate, cheers!
My next upgrade is my fuel system so watching this series has been really fun. My diesel pickup will hold 28-30 psi from factory. Looking to aleast double that by the time all my mods are done.
savos aren Al is off his fucken chops my good friend, he is sweating, scratching at himself, his eyes are popping out of his head, he needs to get off the pipe.
Automobile Addict sure, but I also work in hot climates, and not just on fun size itty bitty Nissans, and I do not look like a sweaty King Charles spaniel with a beard, and this may come as a surprise, but I can also string together a sentence. Whatever Al does in his spare time is entirely his business. Regardless, he still looks as baked as an entire Terracotta Army. Not trying to be critical, just highlighting the obvious.
"We Gotta Go, Before The Fuzzz Comes!" - The Skid Factory 2018. lmao. I love your videos gentleman, and I will continue to watch ads as long as I have to in order to keep supporting this content. Have a great day man, and I also like the HP numbers. I don't know if I just missed it, because I'm nearly asleep now, having trouble keeping my eyes open, but did you show or name a TORQUE number? It seems like it's over 400 lb ft the way she likes to rip of onces shes good and boosted on the pipe. So you don't need to keep the engine on full boil all the time since it seems there's a lot of torque to help keep you moving on the road when towing near, or at it's load limit.
Setting up diesels is a black art. I found i couldny get the boost up without adding more fuel which then puts egt up and you need more boost to cool it! Everything works together it appears. Nice patrol and wish those motors were more available hear in Uk.
Awesome series guys!! More diesel tuning please I'm getting right into it and have been doing the same to my Challenger with the dirty old 4m40 2.8 and getting surprising results but my egt's are getting up there always over 400 and seen 700 a few times I'm surprised the head hasn't cracked as there's receipts in glove box from previous owner spending $5500 on new motor cos of cracked head.
Without taking anything away from Marty or Moog, they are a tough act to follow entertainment wise, but this series has been my favorite the Yoda and the Yoda's apprentice know they're apples and lemons without overdoing it, Big shout to Al who gave me advice a few months back about my own project, she goes well!
Love the series so far! Would have been good to see a bit more in depth regarding the pump tuning though. Fuel screw rarely needs to be touched if the tuner knows what he is doing.
Big, black poof when speeding off is common for older (and some new) diesel engines. The engine inputs a set amount of fuel, and there's not enough boost pressure to use all that fuel, so you're running pig rich. The smoking goes away once the turbo catches up and AFRs stabilize. Interesting to see it's such a common occurance for pretty much any diesel ^^
Gotta ask "Why tho?": That gauge has a 3 digit display, why couldn't they display the full egt rather than /10 ? I know "just add a zero", but that does my sense of righteousness a misfortune.
You should check out the Mercedes diesels, OM606, 648, 603 and 617s are all Bosch M-Series pump equipped engines, easier to work on and if you put 8mm plungers in them, you could do like 60 pounds of boost on a BorgWarner K29 sized turbo, which is great fun. I'd like to see you guys tackle that.
AL man what happened to the hand looks painful ? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with all of us Knuckleheads that are willing to learn, awesome job guys.
The Skid Factory is what all of us more die hard technically inclined MCM fans have been craving for years. This is a massive success in my opinion. You guys do things right, and show a fairly high amount of detail. Plus it's genuinely entertaining. Well done!
TheKuzmovka So bloody true glad they decided to do this style of videos
Are you saying you're not satisfied with "we're putting in coil overs and an exhaust" every third video?
This series is far more interesting than the last few seasons of mcm combined.
totally agree learn alot from al love the builds here. cant wait to see whats next!
Not to mention putting coil overs on a car that I bet preforms worse with them.
Mod max handles amazingly well with coil overs. They were custom made specifically for our car so not sure why you’d think they don’t perform.
Good stuff boys!
mad skids
Loving the music in this one guys!
Nice to see a bit of diesel action!! Keep up the sick vids boys!!!
Better than Ford Focus Build
dr_scream for sure👍👍👍
"it will display danger to manifold, and then the floor will give out"
Holy shit that was so good
Well dubbed wasn’t it 😂
The ending.... LOL. Mechanical diesels arent quiet, people.
It got me rolling
lol loved it :D
Tractor life is a good life.
I didn't know mechanical diesels were people.
goteem on the lack of comma usage, dude
"Yes, we've done the tappets! It's just a noisy old heap of S**T!" Quality end of the series!
I think that's the happiest Yoda I've ever seen. Either that or Moog and Marty just drive him crazy. 😂 lol
HAHAHA “it pulls like a bloody twelve year old boy”
Esoteric Visual Arts
Bloody classic
lip reading was never my forte
hahaha I wondered what they bleeped. Had to go back,
I was wondering if he said Dodge Viper and they bleeped it because that's a dirty American car, hahaha.
Lol the end killed me.
yes it def did to me aswell lol
Dude yes!
Lets go before the fuzz come!
as a BMW owner I know that sound well
Absolutely loved this series!! Best content on any MCM channel for the last few years! Raising the bar!
I have genuinely enjoyed this series. Especially because I am looking into buying a turbo diesel. Thank you chaps!
Genuinely enjoyed the project. I love the in-depth mechanical knowledge, thank you, Al and Woody!
What a fun series. Great change of pace. I absolutely loved it
Top job fellas. Keep up the banter. Seeing people enjoy their rigs makes me smile.
Love the td42 series. Gives us a closer look at the inner workings of Al's mind. Keep em comin ya legends!
Props for good music in the video guys, sounds heaps better than the lo-fi chill hip-hop i hear in like every other youtube build videos
I was smiling from start to end with this video ahaha loved every min of it, and much like the stagea and the fairlane i will be watching this build again from start to finish, guess i'm addicted to the builds :D
Another excellent series. Absolutely loved it fellas. I want this to never end. The bickering is almost too perfect.
Has some serious launch on it. Bloody good effort guys, loving the truck, and loved watching it built the right way too.
Good show boys, entertaining, informative, and a lot of laughs for average person who likes motor vehicles. Will defiantly stay tuned!!
Awesome work guys. Love seeing some 4wd vids getting done, still love the other content you've been putting up. Making me wanna move on to some power upgrades for my Gu patrol. Keep up the great work 👍

It's great seeing them more comfortable in front of the camera, great series
Really sick build guys! Keep up the content, and keep up the variety!
Wish Motortrend had hosts like this, great knowledge, no BS and are actually funny without trying.
Another quality episode. This is becoming so good.
Totally enjoyed this series. Thanks Guys.
That was a sweet episode! Loved the soot on the dyno!
Bloody Awesome job guy.. Look forward to seeing the next project.
Love that outtake bit at the very end. Bravo!
650Nm at 2400 rpm. That’s a success. Sick build guys!
The ol' TD clack - mine's got it, and I did the tappets with a dial indicator. Love this series!
It's been great seeing a 4wd build. Great work fellas
I was not a fan of any vehicle that was not a true or American before I started watching you and the MCM guys, definitely broadened my Outlook on the culture. Keep it up love the videos!

great work guys.
im super keen to see the crown. ive got an MS51 that i love and im looking forward to see what you do with your car.
The "Have you seen my 10 mil?" is sort of a running gag, eh? Love it! ^_^
seriously though the 10mm socket is the only one anyone i know is missing..... its really frustrating..... meanwhile I have 3 i have picked up off the road at work but shhhh

And my OCD, knowing that I have to do .3 seconds of mental math is just not cricket bruhh
Great outcome 🤗🤙
