I absolutely could see a followup that brings in Pinhead and even Michael Meyers (my 2nd *least* favorite slasher behind Freddy, but whom without we’d likely have never gotten Jason)

The reason this film works is that it KNOWS its dumb, and its just having fun with it.
Maybe to casual horror viewers. It doesn't work for the hardcore horror hounds like me.
I see what you mean but it didn't have to be dumb. They could have had good writing, good acting, a non paper-thin plot, but this was 2003 and it feels very 2003.
I know neither of these franchises are known for being super deep, but this one makes those look like Casablanca.

@Adder0130 The whole concept of the movie is dumb, and it knows it. The concept had been kicking around for over a decade before the film even got the green light....and the only point of it was to set up an on screen fight between Freddy and Jason. I'm honestly not sure how to make an in depth plot out of that concept.
Personally, I didn't watch that movie to be scare, I watched it to see both characters fighting.
Still wished we could’ve gotten the sequel, Freddy vs Jason vs Ash.
There are comics for that
@BenHopkins1000 Yea, but a chance to see Bruce Campbell and Robert Englund cheese it up on film can't be replaced by comics. And this movie was so cheesy Ashley J Williams would have fit in perfectly.

I remember in an extra I unlocked playing Evil Dead Regeneration, Bruce Campbell mentioned they were fighting over who's the better franchise

It was one of those dumb movies you can enjoy because the plot isn't that complicated: we have Freddy Krueger, we have Jason Vorhees, they eventually fight, and we have meat bags to be killed meanwhile.

So i just wanted everyone watching this video to know something. So there is a prequel tv show that recently wrapped up filming this year. Its called Crystal Lake. Its the origin story of how Jason came to be. The film crew actually was in my town literally on my street filming for 3 days during the summer. The town is called Boonton, NJ. The reason why they selected this city supposedly is because it looks similar to the original film. There was a classic police car parked on the street along with an old timey oil tanker. The cast was dressed in clothing that represented what looked to be the 1950s or 60s. I just wanted to give real fans some intel. Im more a scifi film fan rather than a horror fan. If you love the flims feel free to visit. Not a whole lot going on here though. We have a couple nice coffee shops. Some art galleries. Nothing amazing. Oh also we have a nice sports bar called Sharkeys and theres a coffee shop that got alot of attention on TikTok called Catfight Cafe. Coffee is very good there. The line never seems to end on the weekend. Static X was signing autographs there a couple days ago.

@bloodlinefilms thats 35 miles west of Boonton. figure about a 50 minute car trip.
Boonton is also not too far from where the Jets/Giants football teams play. Thats about 35-40 minutes i think from Boonton. Also one of the largest malls in the country is in Wayne, NJ, the Dream Mall, Its part amusement park, part shopping.. very simaliar to Mall of America in Minnesota.
@RobertDanzig-q4qblairstown is where they shot the original movie so i am not surprised that they chose the area in general to shoot the show.

I saw this in the theater while slightly high on opiates for back pain. I sincerely believe that is the single best way to appreciate it.

The movie that definitely popularized the Versus concept for movies. Even if I think a Death Battle between these two would get to the point faster and it would feature much less annoying characters in-between the fight scenes.

I mean movies do need plots and characters. Also, there is A TON of these two fighting and the final fight is like 20 minutes straight of nothing but these two duking it out like it's a WWE wrestling match.

All I really know is that Jason had had a bunch of people portraying him and wasn't aware that there was much difference between them or especially enough to have a fan favourite.
I remember going to the movies with my brother and cousins to see this movie. We had such a good time and everyone was so in to it. We laughed and cheered on our favorite.(Freddy was the popular choice in our theater) Good times.
