I had the 7-Up version of same kit, and around the same 1970’s time frame as well! Interesting to see how times have changed, a couple original issue kits (“open/complete”, not sealed - they were available fairly cheaply at the time) are Pabst White-Freightliner and Budweiser Pete 352. Budweiser Clydesdales with wagon also. A manufacturer today couldn’t even consider marketing a beer-themed model kit!
Ha, you’re right! I do remember seeing the 7up kit now that you mention it. I was way into the 1/25 truck kits as a kid so the Sears was the only 1/43 I had.
@@bluefj-wc3vz Sounds similar to me back then, I did have the 1/43 K100 and refrigerator trailer (Ringsby decals) however always preferred the 1/25. Kit acquisitions were of course largely limited to birthday, Christmas etc. gifts when I was a youngster, and as I was a fairly typical “glue bombing” and “brush painting” builder they went together fast. Now everything is reversed: Lots of kits in the accumulated collection, including a multiple 1/43 Pete 359’s, trailers, and another K100 - but limited time for building them!
It is a shame AMT didn't make a wider range of these kits. They had some 1/43 scale cars as well, a brief thread at www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/71313-amt-143-scale-tnt-series-truck-trailer-kits/ indicates the cars were tooled in the 1960's with the trucks coming out later, around 1972/73. Some tractor + trailer combination kits were offered, I had the 7-Up set as a youngster. I also recall having, as separate kits, the Kenworth cabover and the refrigerated trailer with Ringsby United decals.
When I used to use an inkjet printer, I'd sometimes print two sets of the same decal and put both on if I wanted it less translucent. These 1/43 models are very nice, just as nice as the 1/25 versions but almost half the size.
@@crushingvanessa3277 I have seen Heller reissues more often than the AMT ones, same parts but different packaging, box art etc. Also no chromed parts which is actually a plus as it saves having to do the chrome removal process during assembly.
@@brsnorthernhorsejourney3579 No chrome in them? Most rig aren't show trucks anyway. I know the boxes were huge compared to the originals, during a time when everyone was trying to save on packaging.
@@crushingvanessa3277 Yes, all parts trees modded in white. I used the Heller issue of the K100 to build green one shown in the “Keep on (model) truckin’” video, come to think of it the box was fairly large. I think it was actually a set with 359 Pete as well.
I love ❤ olt amt kits!
Thank you, for this movie!
This guy is a master builder in my opinion
Nice job! I remember getting the Sears AMT 1/43 Peterbilt and trailer kit back in the 70's for Christmas one year.

Yep same here.
Big collection of sealed unbuilt kits I have collected that bring a smile to my face. All from that same period.
1/43 scale....very interesting.
Great looking rig.

I wonder if AMT had more kits planned for this scale but didn’t find the market share large enough?
@@brsnorthernhorsejourney3579 I remember when these were reissued as a set, I should have grabbed a couple.
