Max Cooper:
"It was exciting to build this show for the Barbican. It’s one of my favourite venues in the world and they encouraged me to go big. So I turned the whole space into a multi layered canvas and set out to audio visualise the infinite. I collaborated with many visual artists and academics, each chapter using a different form of infinite visual structure on which I also based the music as a score. The result was an intense live show, somewhere between classical, techno, theatre and cinema. We couldn’t capture the true 3D effect of the semi transparent screen layers on film, but Tegid [Cartwright, the director] has done a great job showing the vibe of the evening, which was pretty special. Big thanks again to the Barbican, all of the visual and musical collaborators and team who helped put it all together, and everyone who came along to make it what it was."

superlatives fail me- i am in shock at the spectacle of this amazingness!! great job!!
Products of our environment we roam, believing in those possibility's we choose are ours to use.
You are mine, i am yours. We are all possibility !
No one more or less than
Our own to condemn or condone. Limitless thank god, here shown.
You are good... ❤️🌹
YOU ARE THE BEST . YOU REPRESENT ALL THE ARTISTS
@@unwnme i'm feeling the same for you bro. I am crying
I was there and worked with Max on the last two tracks (Aleph 2 and Transcendental Tree Map, the latter with Nick Cobby). The entire performance was a spectacular collection of mind-bending ideas and visuals. Being literally surrounded by the videos (8 projection surfaces) made you feel like you were inside the music and inside Max's head. It's a dizzying place and I'd love to visit again.
how did you make Aleph 2 ? I mean After Effects or ???
Aleph 2 is incredible work, I cant imagine how you guys did it
Hope to go there once in life
Stunning Collaboration Martin; hope you do more with Max...
🌹
So there are DJ’s and Artists. And there are freaking awesome brilliant minded artists like Max Cooper.
und Boris Brejcha...
& then there are live performers....I didn’t see any here.
@@bernhardhorlezeder8394 XDD no
I agree.
@@mthomas1091 then I suggest you look up what the words 'live' and 'performer' mean and try again ;)
How lucky are we to have institutions like the Barbican and extremely talented musicians like Max Cooper coming together! We really are spoiled. The show was outstanding! ✨
And on top of that, have them available online to view for free!
...How lucky I am to have discovered Max Cooper and this amazing video performance today! So grateful these institutions exist and can be experienced so far away.
One day when events like that are possible again, I want to go on one of his live shows.
Same here.
You should. I’ve been before and Max never disappoints! Also his fans are nice people in my experience :)
Go tonight lol
May 27th, Los Angeles
Well Gunn3r did you ever make it? I'm going to see him tonight in Belfast, first seen him there about 6-7 years ago it was mesmerizing!

I think the live glitch jam at 29:21 is a stripped back and twisted version of Scalar.
Thanks !
Dear Max Cooper,
I will forever remember your performance at "Nuit des Docks" in Marseille back in 2014 I think.
I was totally sober, got robbed 2 times trying to buy drugs, and thought that this party was going to hell !!!^^
Then you came up on scene right after Nina's Kravitz set (if I am not mistaken), and I decided to surrender myself to your performance
After this day I've been on a never-ending hunt to find a track that completely blew my mind.
Then after 1 week, 1 month, I can't remember I finally found it : Nick Warren - Devil's Elbow - Max Cooper Remix
Hand's down the most beautiful and out of this world electronic track !
You are in your own class max, no one comes close to your production and presentation. Fucking BRILLIANT from start to finish!!
This was an unforgettable experience. It ranks right in the top tier of gigs I've been too - an absolutely amazing experience and the Barbican was the perfect setting. Thanks for uploading the night!
I dream of the day I'm able to put productions like this together. the melding of visual and auditorial is amazing.
The incredible amount of detail Max Cooper puts into his music is mindboggling to me.
One of the most beautiful live A/V performances I've ever witnessed. Really hope to catch a glimpse live in Australia one day.
Dude!!!!!! I would have given anything to be there....wow what an epic venue...you are in one of the greatest electronic music producers ever!!!!! The music, the noise, the sounds....no on can do it better than you! Musical genius!!!
Fantastic! The only thing I don't like, being a musician, graphics artist and motion designer is to see where I rank - this makes me humble and realize that I am a caveman watching fire for the very first time. Thank you Max!
I like this: "I am a caveman watching 🔥 for the first time". I would like to use this metaphor in future references to self. However, rather than view oneself according to rank, I encourage you to view your work as a unique expression of self like no other caveman to come before nor after you.
Well said.
Thanks for putting this online for those who weren't able to be there in person - must have been a pretty special evening for those in attendance!
max cooper I listen to your music every day for several years. Thank you for your work
Absolutely perfect AV show. Prana, space, sound, generation of beauty with sound palettes.
This is nothing short of GENIUS and NEXT UNIVERSE, thank you so much Max for making day during these strange days!
The sound of an enlightened soul
What an experience. The addition of the images builds a bridge between the music and our physical sensations. They complete the music, to form a universe of its own
Saw this live at Paradise City festval last weekend. Seriously one of the best electronic live music sets I've ever witnessed.
The music combined with the visuals make for an amazing immersive experience.
Grace to everybody! Max Cooper is connected to wathever you want to call it.... Is in the zone!!!
in a few centuries he will be remembered and studied as the greatest composer of our time
He's great, he's not a composer though he's a producer. Big difference...
@@Scientificmethods is there? The lines are closer than they used to be. Has he not composed this music as well as having produced it? The dude is wrong anyway, Max Cooper is incredible but he is 100% not the greatest composer of our time. Top 10 possibly.
This should be on cinemas. !
Perfect to see it on this quarantine.
👌🏼🔥💯
Aleph 2 is an astounding piece of music. What a beautiful musician
True inspiration and talent, mind-bending experience, flawless production, musical freedom and a dive into infinity and eternity - that's music
this looks and sounds incredible. I love the way Max Cooper uses music not just to explore sounds but to explore ideas, and infuse his music with practical applications of the ideas. wish i was there to see this
The music, the visuals... form an atmosphere that calms my mind like nothing else.
Your art and music are stunning man, I really hope your live gigs will start again soon, I miss this so much.
That was simply beautiful... I feel like a new life has come to me..
Hope to see Max Cooper live one day!
This is unbelievably beautiful and more.
Simply amazing! Time has stopped and at the same time was passing so fast in front of my while was watching the gig...amazing !
To think this was just days before lockdown, and performances like this may not happen for years, ... so glad it's here on video; the work of genius'...
Oh my this gig was beautiful. I had to go back tonight. Reflex track was an audio drug straight to my brain. The visuals, the story, the venue, the music. Thank you Max Cooper 💗

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing.
I'll never forget when I first stumbled across Max's music. It was at the beginning of the pandemic and me and my family were quarantining separately, I was alone and pissed drunk on some of the best wine I had because nobody knew what was coming next and I wasn't going to let that juice go to waste in what seemed like an impending apocalypse. I was listening to music on my TV at random on youtube late that night and his track Order from Chaos plays and then I just went down the rabbit hole, listening to his entire catalog; amazed.
The music videos had me just as stupefied as the music. Keep it up and come to Texas!
This music is the best depicture of enlightenment
Absolutely amazing... Bought the vinyl on the first hearing :)

Student: ‘How do you use Ableton?’
Tutor: ‘Speak to Max Cooper....’
😌
Beautiful opening
this is just, perfection....
Thank you for your imprints Max, lucky to know you
A great event for the epileptics yearly meeting for sure.
The sound at 48:00:00 gives me so much nostalgia. Have no idea why. But I love it
I recently visited Cambridge to see Melt Banana live, it was in some awful pub, room full of rockers, I didn't even go in, this was a week ago now, next week on the 20th April, Max is playing Cambridge at Junction 1, I am so tempted, but I am still also very wary of large crowds in enclosed spaces, due to the pandemic, its made me very apprehensive about this sort of thing now. Will I go? maybe not, but at least I can enjoy a live show (almost) from the comfort of my own home, and this performance is perfect for a late night Friday session 😃
A new Jarre! I was searching for something like this for a long time. Excellent artwork!
I am so excited!
Just amazing
Amazing!!!!!
Such a powerful start.
