@LoserSnoozer it also leaked after 1 or 2 weeks of work installing it, so yeah there wad a major issue, that's where the episode ended and we haven't had any news since
Probably wouldn't even help the Civic much in termss of structural rigidity. The weight gains if any would probably be ruined by cutting the structure.
For anyone that hasn't used Silka or Silkaflex let me tell you it is the best sealant made by man. Fifteen years ago I used four tubes to seal a seam in my concrete driveway and it is still good as new today.
@@lsr0netheone9 Last time it ran was during the GRIDLIFE 2022 season at Lime Rock Park where it blew its turbo during its second session (it won Street Class in just one session lol). After that, it has been on jackstands for about a year as Ben wanted to focus on his other cars and give the Evo a break. When the flood hit the garage, his Evo was spared since it was on jackstands.
I think a good solution to the windshield foggging issue is to run a similar setup to rear windshield defrosters. There are companies that make front windshields with heating coils embedded in them
Advance pulled all of their sponsorships in all Motorsport. They have been having some finance issues in general and this is just a cost cutting measure
The two Bens announced this earlier this year as part of the Eclipse vs RX-8 road trip series. Advance Auto usually sponsors those as well but they had a lot less to work with this time around
Advance bought most of not all of the pepboys store locations. They've really expanded a lot here on the west coast and I think they're having trouble with competitors like Autozone and oreilly having a strong base here.
Something that's come up in the rally community this year, a few people have had the turn key kill switch lose contact even though it's in the correct position. People have started to switch to solid state electrical kill switches. Not sure you'll get as much vibration as we do, but I'd hate for you to DNF on a small part again
1.5s is a massively impressive improvement over 1 lap, but it’s hopeful to assume the competition won’t have made similar upgrades this year. The upcoming season will definitely be interesting.
10 seconds in, and the intro is already beyond perfect! Probably the moment that fully cemented your channel as the perfect combination of top gear and Cars.
This channel is one of the best automotive channels on yt, there will be plenty of businesses wanting to sponsor you guys. Wish you the best this season!
Rain-x or similar on the windshield, inside and out. won't fog up. swap the interior non vital bolts for Alu', not too expensive and saves another few pounds. can do similar for body panel fixings. for the cost of carbon roof you could have better weight savings with something like titanium hub nut, wheel studs and lugs. probably even lighter hubs too. unsprung weight saving too
Great video as always, guys. Sucks that Advance Auto Parts aren't staying on. I really hope that doesn't affect the road trip content in any way. Feels like you've been with them forever!
I really love seeing the progress of this car. Just seeing how each little tweak, mod and change has had results. Crazy to think I still remember when the civic and the Evo were both basically standard street cars...
Yeah... Spray the window whit anti fogging up spray 👍 works pretty good AND BEN if you are having problems getting tires up to temp before a session... Put the tires and RIMS in a black Big garage bag. Close it up and place it in the sun !! A friend of mine does that to his Wheels and tires to get them up some of the way in themp!! He does hillclims and they didn't have any time getting heat in the TYRES 👍🎉
Great video, you said that gridlife rules require no front glass? Have you considered cutting vents into the rear window or even the boot lid to relieve the air that can be caught in the interior of the car? Similar theory to when people cut the rear bumper..
Do the rules allow undertrays and diffusers? With proper ones you'd reduce drag, increase downforce, might even reduce the size of the massive rear wing which adds a lot of drag.
Two points of advice, get rid of the ignition steering lock. Its a race car, you dont need it. Go to a toggle on or push button set up. Second, professional drivers actually use soapy water in a spray bottle and spray the inside of the windshield. That would be a cheaper alternative
Maybe things have changed (since it's been a minute since I worked in auto glass), but I remember using stuff like windex to keep the urethane wet and something to keep the blades/wires from building up too much heat from friction did wonders to make things less of a pain in the ass. D:
If you put both front windows in you go faster again. The drag that you are creating by not having windows in place is huge. Rather than a fan for the front window, add in a cold air duct from the front and let that blow air directly up onto the front windshield.
Damn, kinda breaks my heart to hear advanced isn't a sponsor anymore, doesn't affect me as I'm in Canada, but Ive always linked you guys together in my mind
Ever considered endurance racing with @worldracingleague? It’s an awesome series, competition, and community. It would be sick to see a G&G car on the grid!
Well you keep breaking records ben, I dont think I have seen someone "warm up" their rear tires that way that early before! Haha still blows my mind you are taking a civic this fast and far as a racecar.
What about carbon fiber dors and rear hood skins? It is easy and quick, and also, you have a cage, so dor is not a big factor for side impact, which we all hope never happens.

Well, there goes the only advertising for Advance Auto I ever see...
Seriously! Gears and gasoline without advance sponsoring them? What is this world coming to!!!
yeah.. wtf Advance! step it up!
Never heard of nor noticed Advanced before G&G
Aaaand now Auto Zone gets my business.
Time to get in the zone since advance clearly doesn’t want our business
Now that Advanced isn't sponsoring you guys... I'm excited to see who will be next!
Mark will never install a carbon roof again 😅

Driver side no less!
17:12 So..we're not gonna talk abt Ben's Evo just casually there?😅
😂😂I just paused to comment on that then I saw yours
Ben also took his evo on the track at VIR, it was awesome to watch them both
Saw that, I thought that thing was retired/flooded?

your journey to track and wheel to wheel racing is inspiring. thank you for all the work you do for this content.

So glad its racing season again.

I love Charlie’s product!!! Amazing quality!!!
Do the rules allow undertrays and diffusers? With proper ones you'd reduce drag, increase downforce, might even reduce the size of the massive rear wing which adds a lot of drag.
He had to reduce the size of his splitter to meet rules. Partial undertray is permitted, just not sure if he has fully exploited it
CTR's ruling:
Rear undertray diffusers are not permitted, factory or otherwise.
Flat underbody floors/pans are prohibited.
Finnaly the EVO is fixed cant wait to see it run againg
Also good for you ben you Civic is a proper race machine
If you arent already try running some more toe in the rear to help scrub the rear tyres and get them hotter
