@@edkwon Yeah, let's not try to rewrite history. People just didn't like that particular portrayal of the character. It's not the "direction", it's how the character was written that's the problem.
Gotta love Brandon Routh. The guy just seems so cool and down to earth. You can tell it really hurt him not being able to do a sequel to Returns. I'm glad he's had this chance to return to that character.
Not anymore. He’s great as Superman, no doubt ! He wasn’t the only one waiting for that moment, we all did that part ( not sure that was the last one ) script, presence, character intensity all of them he embodied then all., will be the same with cavill after a few years...
He comes across as a genuine and sweet guy and is a perfect fit for the golden-age version of Superman. I have a fond memory of meeting him at a convention about a decade ago and he was humble and kind. Seeing him finally getting the respect he deserves for his portrayal of Superman is fantastic. It's been too long in coming.
I will say this one time, Brandon Routh is the perfect superman, he looks like superman, he sounds like superman, he embodies him wholeheartedly. And he loves playing him. We need a kingdom come movie with Brandon starring in the future on the big screen. To be honest i love henry's superman but not nearly as much as Brandon's superman because he is the one true superman. He was my superman and always will be. I want him back as superman on the big screen. People shit on superman returns which i dont get but i think it was the writing and production of the movie that wasn't as good as the originals or some would say current superman movies. his portrayal was spot on in my opinion, his clark kent portrayal was literal gold. He needs to return to the big screen as superman.
People over exaggerate about Superman Returns. The movie was good. Honestly, it’s no different than the first film. Superman didn’t throw a single punch in that one either, all he did was clean up Lex’s disasters.
@@anthonyshepherd265 I am perfectly fine with Superman not throwing punches; most situations don't call for that, which is part of the beauty of the character. His powers afford him the luxury of not making moral compromises, which makes him a great character through which to explore ethics in an unusual context. The reasons why Superman Returns didn't quite work had nothing to do with a lack of punching and more to do with a lack of humanity. They tried to turn him into a Space Jesus with mild stalker tendencies. Of course, compared to Man of Steel, he was a total sweetheart, because that movie was even colder, but both failed to really show the warmth of the character. But the casting of Brandon Routh was magnificent. The Donner Superman had its own flaws, mostly centered around the portrayal of Lex Luthor (which carried over into Returns), but Superman himself was written a lot warmer in the first movie. I'm still waiting for the definitive Superman movie. The formula is pretty simple. Superman is all about sharing power with the powerless, Lex Luthor is all about hoarding power for himself. Lex, who doesn't believe in altruism, wants people to think Superman has an ulterior motive and is a threat to the planet. Superman has to avoid taking any action that makes it look like Lex is correct. It's a timeless takedown of Randian Objectivism and fearmongering and it can be absolutely riveting and poignant in the right hands, without a single punch thrown at Lex by Superman. Watching Superman punch things is boring; that's too easy. There's a lot more tension in watching Superman hold back because he can't afford to cross any lines.
Still pissed at the Legends writers for kicking Brandon & Courtney of the show. Ray is one of the best characters in Arrowverse!! And Brandon deserves better
@@NiceRsProductions not true. Brandon made a post that it was not his and Courtney's choice to leave. The writers felt that Ray and Nora's stories had come to an end and wrote them out of the show. Neither of them wanted to leave.
NiceRsProductions Brandon said himself in this interview they didn’t want to leave, if it was up to them “we would keep playing these characters for a foreseeable future” the LOT writers can’t keep Ray when they’re making the Avalance show. No room for the OG Legends
Eh, I'll withhold judgment until I see how they handle the exit. If it's handled well, and the characters are given proper sendoffs, I'll be okay with it.
I've said it for years, Brandon Routh, is a GREAT Superman! I'd love to see him portray his version of Kingdom Come Superman in his own movie or TV series.
I personally find Brandon Routh so much better than Henry Cavill as Superman. Brandon gives so much more to Superman, Clark and in the scenes with his mother, as Kal-El. His posture is different, his mannerisms, even his smile is different as one or the other. Cavill is handsome and buff but he doesn't do that; he's the same guy whether he's in his Super suit or his Clark clothes. He was fun to watch in Man from UNCLE but he's not Superman. Brandon Routh is Superman.
Brandon Routh is this generation's Christopher Reeve's Superman..Henry Cavill also has the charm..Tom Welling has the Clark Kent charm...big fan of these kryptonians...
Superman Returns was an underrated movie. Growing up with Reeves as Superman, Brandon nailed the role so good that it had literally brought tears to my eyes. I was disappointed that he didnt get to explore the character more, and I believe us fans missed out on someone that would have done justice to the character. Brandon is a great actor and I enjoy watching his performances. Thanks so much for your great ability as an actor.
Exactly i know right! And both he and Courtney are pretty vocal that it wasn't their decision. Like for Prof Stein, Snart and even Ollie, the actors were ready to leave so were written out. But now with Nora in the pic i feel there is so much stories to tell between them!!! Hope it gets finished this season.....though it won't feel enough!!!
If he sticks as Kingdom Come Superman then Brandon leaving Legends is not a worry. Surely the people behind the scenes must be overwhelmed by the insane reaction everyone is experiencing and expression for Brandon as Superman, the only TRUE Superman that makes Tyler look like nothing (sorry, Tyler I'm sure you are a nice guy but THAT guy IS Superman).
@@EAprima Yep, he really turned on that movie star quality. And he gave everyone a taste of what they've been missing with the old school Superman persona. Not angry Superman or hormonal Superboy. I would love to see Brandon Routh back in the cape as superman more than just this crossover he deserves it. He didn't get a great script in Superman Returns. Brandon Routh is the best Superman since Christopher Reeves, we want more to see of him in blue either in a movie or series. Please anyone out there who can make it happen do something.
Growing up with Christopher Reeves as my beloved Superman I was saddened to not have another Superman that embodied that type of kind spirit and look of Clark Kent mixed with the gentle fierceness that was Superman. Mr. Routh really loves Superman. It’s too bad he didn’t have an opportunity to continue playing him in the movies. I don’t know if there’s another person on this planet that looks more like Superman than he does.
WB should ride the wave on this one and do a Kingdom Come Superman on the big screen with Brandon Routh. This world can have a connection with the CW DC TV.
When he showed up as Superman...for the first few seconds it hit me that ...this s Superman. Huge, imposing, and powerful. And....he gives of a real nice guy vibe.

I still can't get over the fact that the Legends execs essentially fired Brandon and Courtney. I can only imagine it was for budgetary reasons but it was such a stupid decision. They decide to keep some of the other really pointless and annoying characters but decide to get rid of Ray, who is the heart of the show, and Nora, who is easily the best new character in the last couple of seasons. I feel pretty certain that they will come to regret it and the fact that he has been the shining highlight of the crossover so far just lends more credence to that. Routh clearly isn't happy about it and it takes a lot to piss off someone like Routh as he never fails to let people know that it wasn't his decision to leave. I hope we see him back in the Arrowverse soon.
Laura Reyes Maybe! I think they might just be waiting to take a look at the ratings. Otherwise they would have made a final season announcement if it was ending for sure. That’s so freaking obnoxious!!!! Keeping the Arrow characters in DCL is like a piece of Arrow that lives on. The writers are idiots... there are so many things they could’ve done with Ray’s character...
#ThatsMySuperman Please have your own Kingdom Come Superman TV show, Brandon. You were stealing the show as Superman in Crossover. My gosh! So awesome. He outshined everyone. I'm stoked.
Brandon did a great job. He is a great Clark Kent and Superman. But the decision on the story for his movie in hindsight was very odd. They decided to make a sequel to the second Superman and erase the others...but with an entirely new cast. This isn't the same as other movies who did it but with the same cast. With SO many years in between his movie and the originals, they really had a chance to do the origin story. It's okay to do an origin story when it had been such a long time.
back then I thought his Superman was good, but his Clark Kent was just amazing. Now that he's older, I think he could be the perfect Superman. If there's ever Supes on a DC universe app show, please make it Brandon. Please.
Seriously, Tyler just looked like a old man in cosplay next to Brandon. The contrast was just embarrassing to say the least. Hey DC if you're not going to do anymore movies, give this man his series!
Superman has gone through various incarnations. Recall that in the Supergirl show, he says she is the stronger of the two of them in one episode. Btw, the actor is only 32 years of age. As popular as the Smallville show was, Weller doesn't look like the traditional Superman. Though they like to say he never wore the outfit to match the story, I believe that was a good excuse given that he is well, a bit heavier now like Dean Cain.
Can someone please tell me why Warner Bros hasn't called this guy yet to play Superman again? C'mom, this is Superman right there sitting and talking to the audience. Nothing against Cavill, but I watched those clips of Crisis on Infinite Earths just because of him. Bring Brandon Routh back as Superman, that's my Call.
I've been saying this for more than a decade, Brandon Routh is the best Superman after Christopher Reeve. It's undoubtedly the best to portrait the Character so well. Let's petition Warner to have him back. We can do that.
And at the end of Crisis, he's shown flying above the Earth, looking and smiling at the camera with the bright red, blue and yellow with the John Williams theme. I didn't need more proof. That is Superman. Take notes, Warner Bros.
The DCU has missed an opportunity to make a great Superman tv show with Brandon Routh a actor who really pulls heart stings more than the short Superman Tyler
Honestly very true. Both are amazing talents who delivered a different aspect of Clark & Kal-El. To see Brandon embody the Suit & cape once more = epic
@@humaneIP You're probably miffed about the ''No Suit'' thing because you have zero understand of the idea behind that. So in case you didn't know but it wasn't Tom Welling's decision. The ''No Flights, No Tights'' rule was made by the showrunners ingbefore the first episode of Smallville was filmed. And that's because it wasn't a show about Superman and never was going to be. So when Welling was approached they pitched him a Superman show and he rejected because he wasn't interested in that. But he had a more in depth talk with the showrunners themselves who explained to him that it wasn't a Superman show. And when he asked about suiting up and flying and all that stuff. They said that it was a absolute NO-GO. And he agreed with that decision. People really need to learn to do some digging before blaming everything on Tom Welling.
I saw Tom Welling during 10 long years in smallville series, the last season(10) I saw it live from USA television, but I LIKED more Brandon Routh as Superman even if he only played him once ever. It was great to see Tom again on the Crisis crossover, but disappointing at the same time he wasn’t that interested on playing Superman anymore. I PREFFER 1 MILLIOM TIMES BRANDON ROUTH.

@@Yebi263 Yeah I mean I think the guy is a great Superman. It's just Routh's Superman carries Reeve's torch, which is why Hoechlin just gets left in the dust.
I thought I was not going to disassociate Ray Palmer from Superman because Brandon Routh has played Ray longer (more seasons?) but he did a fantastic job with both characters. Hey, any Chuck fans out there? Ray and Shaw are most definitely different from each other. Again, Brandon did a great job there too.
Loved his Chuck role when he "turned" agent Shaw - great villain. He made a perfect heroic Superman - deserved more "better written" movies. 180 with the the Atom and the geeky persona. Dylan Dog was really good too. Wish him nothing but interesting and unique successful roles in the future.
I was already into the JL animated series but Superman Returns was the thing got me fully immerse myself into the Superman mythology so I do appreciate him as my generation's Superman.
I know that Brandon and Courtney are set to leave the Legends but I hope the CW and WB still give him something for the fans even after next year. Maybe a spin-off or a crucial part in the Tyler-Elizabeth spin-off. Hopefully! 💪🏻
I such loved this interview, because he explains well everything from the crossover to being the Atom to his relaction with the Superman character and also because Brandon Routh is one of the best actors in THE CW/DC series he has such a talent and humour as a person and for this I estimate him so much. I really enjoyed the part when he gives some tips about being an actor so he made an inspiring speech of "being true" with yourself when you are an actor. Thanks.
Routh is going to be super-missed in the Arrowverse. CW got lucky to get him and I hope he finds himself in big ventures in the future. He deserves it.
@@joshb6604 They are referencing the fact that the actor Brandon Routh, and his wife (the one that plays Nora) will be leaving Legends after this current season.
Superman Returns had a really great opening scene 👍 of his return to society. The look on Kate's face when Superman came back was priceless. So well done. I really felt the connection portrayed between Lois and Superman. Bought the movie when it came out on video and watched it many times. Loved it! Wish they had a sequel 😞
If you think the show is trash, why do you watch it? (I'm assuming you must because otherwise how would you be able to judge whether it's trash or not.) Don't get me wrong, I totally agree that they fired the best actor (and character) on the show. But I find the show amazing, funny as hell, and absolutely insane. Brandon was not the reason It didn't work. The script, studio interference has been the reason why the movie didn't work.
Put it to you this way. It took 13 years, but it did work because so many people like us loved seeing him onscreen again as Superman.
after Crisis, Brandon is definitely my favorite Superman & favorite Clark Kent, he was perfect
back then I thought his Superman was good, but his Clark Kent was just amazing. Now that he's older, I think he could be the perfect Superman. If there's ever Supes on a DC universe app show, please make it Brandon. Please.
Talking about how his son sees him just made Brandon the most down-to-earth truthful actor in existance.
I always consider him the real superman. I missed his movies on the big screen. Hopefully more to come!.
He has melted so many hearts for sure.
Just give Brandon Routh the next Superman movie. Enough already. Before he gets too old.
The Superman spinoff should be lead by Brandon. What is the CW thinking? They are actually letting Superman go!
They can't afford him.
Seeing the 2006 version back on screen is simply amazing. Brandon Routh, great actor, is great to see him reprising this character.
Yeah, but a Routh Superman is harder to make Supergirls Bitch.
@@nickdentoom1173 no superman is supergirls bitch. And its not other way around either.
@@herosjourney8725 watch supergirl series. Superman is supergirl's bitch . Thats why i stop watching supershitgirl series.
My god, 14 years, he still so handsome..this guys needs to be atleast on the top 10 of best male guns out there
Him as Superman, flying over the Earth was the best par of the Crisis event
He likes to play Superman more than Tom Welling.
Actually that's wrong to say because Tom Welling never actually played Superman.
Well, to be fair, he felt his story was finished and he felt that wearing the suit would betray what the show was meant to show...
Brandon routh and John wesley shipp have been the best part of crisis so far!
I love this man as Ray, but when he's Superman... perfection!
Superman returns superman is my superman, the first superman I watched on screen
Brandon Routh's version of superman will always be my superman because its the one I always see in my mind when I think of superman and he is the superman I connect to the most because he's so human
Brandon looks like a younger and taller version of Tom cruise.
JAY SANTIAGO just realized he does
Thanks, can’t unsee that now
He looks like a taller version of David Giuntoli.
Geoffrey Lane that as well
Like a young Chris Noth
Brandon Routh so deserved this second chance to be Superman.
I hope to see more of him as Superman.
Such a wonderful guy, always does his best for his fans
Great dude... Same here and seeing Brandon in that Kindom Come suit is just OH MY GOD it's like dreams come true!
16:57 -- "That's it, that's the dude, that's Superman."
Tyler Hoechlin -- "Am I a joke to you?"
I feel bad for Hoechlin. Hes doing his best playing a poorly written role
@@Yebi263 Yeah I mean I think the guy is a great Superman. It's just Routh's Superman carries Reeve's torch, which is why Hoechlin just gets left in the dust.
@@gordontubbs He's going to gain his own series. Then he will get the chance to build his own Superman Legacy.
Compared to the other Superman, Hoechlin is a joke yes (But doesn't help he cannot build his own legacy).
@@nickdentoom1173 Well know that for sure when his show starts.
I just realised how good of an actor he is. His switch from himself to Ray to Superman
Eagle 367 Have you seen Scott Pilgrim vs the World?
Tyler Hoechlin looks like an ant next to him when they are sharing a scene as two Supermen.
He must got his own show...brandon is the best actor to playing darkest superman
I’m so happy he got to play Superman again. He deserves it.
I would LOVE to have a whole series on his Superman.
I was already into the JL animated series but Superman Returns was the thing got me fully immerse myself into the Superman mythology so I do appreciate him as my generation's Superman.
We want a Brandon Routh Supermam show!!!
He looks n sounds like Christopher Reeve . They look like father/son. I hope they make Superman Return 2 with Brandon on it 👍
I know that Brandon and Courtney are set to leave the Legends but I hope the CW and WB still give him something for the fans even after next year. Maybe a spin-off or a crucial part in the Tyler-Elizabeth spin-off. Hopefully! 💪🏻
Jayson Valentino Paragon of Hope
Their moving back to LA from Vancouver so unlikely....
In Black Panther Voice: SOMEONE GET THIS MAN HIS OWN KINGDOM COME TV MINISERIES!
Who's with me? 😁🤘🤘
I am personally on board. 🖤😊
Brandon Routh is my favorite actor in the Arrowverse.
Ray is my favourite character on the entire Arrowverse & now he won't be there anymore 😭
What Arrowverse... *spoiler below*
...last I checked the multiverse was on hiatus... ;)
Y when did he die?
@@joshb6604 They are referencing the fact that the actor Brandon Routh, and his wife (the one that plays Nora) will be leaving Legends after this current season.
Josh B if you watch the whole interview you will understand
@@parastararts I did
I am happy to see him don the cape once again.
He is a fusion between Christopher Reeves and Henry Cavill...
He's the best Superman since Reeve.
Danny Benhur ...He blows away that dull and boring Henry Cavill!
@@robdcollector2808 Nah.
I really wish he never got the role in Legends, but instead was cast as Superman on Supergirl. Very sad.
Fuck no for supergirl to outshine him at everyturn no thanks

Lets wish hes a oart of superman and lois...2 superman..again...wouldnt hurts no one right
I thought that but I couldnt bare to see him be disrespected in the way that the supergirl superman is. He needs his own show.
Klaxx his Atom role was amazing...
WB DC need to give this man a chance for another superman movie. they do these elsewolds DC movies. DO IT.
I want a Super-Brandon TV Show, someone make it happen
Legends fired the best actor on the show regardless of the fact that he wanted to stay and regardless of the fact that the show is trash.. Nice job 👍🏽
Feminazis will say that Caity Lotz is the best. Lol
We'll see if it continues without Ray's presence.
snurfbee58 I liked the show the second season then I stopped liking it but now I’ve been liking the episodes lately
Jacked like Cavill, looks like Reeve - great mix
One of the best superman of all time 2nd to Christopher Reeves
I was 12 years old when I saw Christopher Reeves as superman.
He's the best portrait of Reeve. Warner Bros should bring him back. The guy is the Christopher Reeve of this century.
I was five, when Christopher Reeves first came on screen as Superman.🔥🔥🔥
THE MOST HANDSOME OF ALL SUPERMAN, NEXT TO REEVES, I HOPE THEY WILL DO THE MOVIEOF SUPERMAN AGAIN BEFORE HIS BEAUTIFUL AGE PAST...
