I recently did an episode with Jeff McErlain talking about his journey in Les Pauls and I thought it would be great fun to do the same with my good friend Zac from "Ask Zac". Come and hang out and let's talk about Teles! Развлечения
37:20 Zac: "The phone machine?" Keith: "A dictaphone?" OMG, how time has flown! It was called a....wait for it....answering machine, guys! lol
Thanks!
We always just had our butler answer it. 😂 oh. Wait….
I had a steam powered answering machine. Dang thing cost me a fortune in coal!
The pic with Buck Owens leaning in to watch Zac's solo dropped my jaw. Talk about a hell of a memory to have an image of!
A favorite for sure!
I like all the positive ESP comments. They were a great company and had so many good people working for them in NYC. I've still got a few of them.
Zacs hair is much better now. Really enjoyed the livestream.
I met Buck Owens once. He was my dad's idol.
Cool Video! I have 5 and all of them are different styles.
Great!
I'm sitting here with my Tele in my lap, whining softly that I missed the livestream.
Teles and SG's are the best guitars.
You sing the song of my people.
A new nation should emerge, and this should be our constitution.
I put a Tele bridge pickup in my SG and never looked back
We all need to start an app for our people lol
The seven most true words I have ever heard. Amen.
9:45 I bought a course (on TrueFire, no less) on Greg Koch's heroes and he tells the same (almost identical, "who is this other guy?") story about discovering Albert Lee via that Clapton record. Great video... Zac is a terrific interview
my only electric guitars for 40 years were Telecasters. The first I bought used in 1971...it was a well used 1967 blonde with maple neck which I had to sell around 2013 to fix some stuff on the house. The local dealer then sold it to Keith Richards when the Stones played in Milwaukee. I also had a 2001 Am. Std by then...and a month ago I picked up a new old stock 2011 1952 reissue. Only other electric in my arsenal is a LP Studio Tribute...nice guitar...but it's not a Telecaster.
Well this was fantastic fun! I remember those original Burton signatures and it just didn't really seem like a tele.... cause it really wasn't! My first tele was a real red headed stepchild - 1983 Telecaster Elite - only made for 2 years it was ... well ... different. Kind of a dog really in some regards but wish I had it still cause they've gotten valuable. But I've always had a tele of some flavor since 1984. Some good, some great, some average. I won't lie Keith I've more than once seen a Salen floating about on the used market and been sorely tempted. I'd like to try that neck before pulling the trigger but as an old Steinberger fan I can't pretend the blend of two of my favorite guitar designs doesn't have a strong appeal!
This was maybe my favorite chat you have done other than the one with David Grissom which I have watched twice. Good stories and info and Zac’s love of the Telecaster is such a cool thing and he has a great collection of really good ones. Many people in this group would love to have just one of those teles, let alone all of them. I really appreciate what both of you guys are doing. Thanks!!!
Two of the absolute best on guitar RUclips. Great stream fellas!
I missed the livestream but very much enjoyed the episode! 🎸❤️👍🏻 thanks again for the great content!
Great show gentlemen !!!
Red guitar pic w Buck and Brad is freakin fantastic!
Great chat. Thanks Keith and Zac.
Great chat fellas, thanks for the history lesson, another top school day. 🏴👍👍👍🥃Respect to you fellas
Wish I could have been here live, guys. All y'all are the best!
Thanks, Maggie!!
Thanks!! Great episode. Zach is my hero
Thanks you guys!
The Telecaster is my absolute favorite guitar, and it's definitely my desert island guitar choice. If you have to ask me why, you haven't played a good Telecaster.
Great episode
Thanks. I sure enjoy Ask Zac. He’s nerdy , square and pretty cool. Quite the player. Though I’m not a Country music fan, good music is just that good music!
Back in the early 80's I had a mini-flying V made by Phil Kubicki and it was a cool little guitar. Unfortunately it went into a pawn shop and I was never able to get it back out.
Thanks for another thoroughly enjoyable video, Keith! I just finished installing a three-saddle ashtray bridge and Gotoh vintage tuners in my MIM Player Telecaster, so I'm sll about the Telecaster again!
@5watt- dig the beard, lookin groovy!
Schools open ,two days late though. You boys always have great experiences, stories etc. Zac is one of the finest Tele players , and his work on Truetone is very informative.🎸🎸🎸
We agree!
Thanks, Keith and Zac! I'm late getting to it, but I really enjoyed it!
Nice video and guest. I'm almost certain the earliest '52 reissue Teles (officially called only "Vintage Telecaster" as the model name back then) was 1982, not 1981. The "Vintage Telecaster" was the first of the reissue models to hit the streets and there was a long delay between its announcement and its release. Edited to add: Soon thereafter came the '57 and '62 Strat reissues, '57 and '62 Precision Bass reissues and '62 Jazz Bass reissue.
There are , as they were officially known back then, 52RI Telecasters, that were built in 1981, but made it into stores in 1982. I had one, it was great.
@@maggieo "Vintage Telecaster" is the only name name on the official instruction manual that came with mine. I still have that manual and saw it again only a few months ago.
All you need is one great telecaster. I hv two
love the intro and outro
Trading that red Tele for a classical guitar is a move I wouldn't be happy about.
I am still not happy
Just noticed those Beatles books above Zac's shoulder. I have those books, that's how I learned to play guitar! Great chat, fellas. My first electric was an '89 Squier stratocaster. Still have it!
Ted Greene's favorite axe...
Would loved to have seen this live, but 5 am on a work day. lol Not happening.
How about amps other than fender/ marshall/vox? Like ampeg /magnatone. Maybe some gibson jazz boxes?
Zac rules!
There's one thing I don't understand about James Burton. He's said that he didn't like a middle pickup since it got in his way. But his signature teles have three pups.
What a fantastic video have a good weekend also tomorrow is my younger sister birthday
33:07 I’m a crazy traditionalist but those Strandbergs are really cool. ❤ super cool 😎
Also… Sounds like I need to go to France!😂
You’re a couple of wild men. 🎉
G&L ASAT Classic - the ace axe
It's ironic, in hearing about Zac's Pentecostal upbringing, it's THAT corner of American Christianity (I'm referring to the white church therein) that went all-in on electric
worship first, vis a vis Hillsong, Bethel, etc., though it did take a while. We evangelicals at the time were told to steer clear of worldly music and card-playing and heck, even bowling, fer crissake!
That double-bound MIJ candy apple red is one on my bucket list. Left handed, unfortunately.
Late watcher. I think the Telecaster is the guitar I would rescue from my burning house. Does brisket go with sauerkraut? I’m asking for a friend in Pennsylvania.
Of course!
Why not?
@@AskZac Sauerkraut is rarely wrong.
Please tell Zac Guitar Resurrection unfortunately closed for good here in Austin.
Oh no.. I missed the Q&A Livestream. May I ask, what you think, who builds beside Fender the best historic Telecaster... Dano, Nacho, MB, or someone else?
44:14 Isn’t that taking the SRV worship a tad far? Lol
(See July 7, 1990)
Is the 5 Watt World store for t-shirts and other gifts closed???? I can't get into the web site....Anyone have any updates????? Thanks
Hi Susan, You should be able to get there from the website, fivewattworld.com.
Well Brad Paisley only picks the best for his Tech....amen to Zack..
What about a PINE body?
You just have to pull out that headless guitar & ruin a good show.
Ha! Yeah, my thing
Love all your videos, Thanks for your great 👍 work.
