We should all be a part of this big movement. I believe that with everyone working and trying really hard to change things in this world, it'll not only be good for us individually, but it'll be amazing for those around the world. I also believe that we are forgetting that Earth is our home and we need to take care of it. Everyone around us is like our family and we all live on this planet. All of us can make a difference, a change for the better. Go Green!!! 🐸🐣🐍🐢🍀🍃🌿🌵🌴🌲🌳🌱🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌼🌸🌍🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏
Now this is what Im talking about! We need to make a difference in the world. Lets prove to the world that this is a powerful movement. It only takes one step to change the world.
I'm part of the 8 million students who educate them self in a community college and I am glad that in my campus we are part of a big movement. Help us archive our goals and do something to make a change. This is about our planet, about us, about our families and our love ones. Do something share this and make a change.
It's not just about making a comment or sharing a video. It's about telling your friends and getting the point across. Tell that random person sitting on the metro next to you, a random fact about climate and get them interested. CHANGE doesn't come without ACTION!!
We, our generation, are the driving force of change. We were able to make social medias become mainstream (facebook, twitter, youtube,...). Together, WE can change the world and save the Earth.
There are so many things to change about ourselves and about our world. God knows how many different and alternative methods we can use to make our goal possible.
Power of 8 million people in the unity is definitely the most powerful things resulting to the actions of climate change. Let's do this together. We are the guardians of our planet.
We the 8 million students of community college have more power than all the people in the US alone. The government can't say no to 8 million of us. We need to come together and start making a change! If we don't the future generations will suffer because of our mistakes. We need to start paving the way for the future generation. Earth day is April 22nd! Be aware, get involved, and take action! #earthday #connect4climate #8million
Change can be done regardless of how big or little the impact can be. I've learned that without trying to help change things in life, it'll get us no where. But when trying it can change things for the better. It's our time to turn things around and provide a better place for our future generations. All of us can make a difference so why not take the chance and do so? You only live once right? So let's live our life beautifully and happily. Go Green everyone!
"Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success." Henry Ford With a collective effort of everyone we can make a huge positive change in the issue at hand.
Nothing is impossible if we work together. Eight million community college students really can make a difference. It is our responsibility to take care of our planet for ourselves and our future generations. The speaker is absolutely right in saying it is our generation who must make this change if we are to survive on this planet. As part of this earth we must respect it and it's inhabitants. We share this planet with all other life on it. We cannot allow greed to fuel our decisions or we will be doomed as a people. I believe we have the power to make a permanent change which will turn this battle on climate change, pushing it into a bright future for many generations.
It is great to see so many of us here in community colleges taking action. It is our duty not only as students but as the future to keep on moving forward with this project. We must keep promoting this project so we can make the differences. We have sent this video to many organizations all over the world to let them know that young people do care and we are capable of making a change in the world. Maybe we can gain there support. Lets do this right here, right now!
I wish that we can finally succeed on saving our one and only earth. In the mean time, we can take small steps toward our goal. Lets make a difference. Lets make a change.
It is important for us to act together to help fight against climate change. We can start small by working in our own communities. We can start by showing our neighbors these videos and we can all work together. We can help fight climate change.
“Always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.” -President Obama I was helping a fellow colleague with an assignment for speech class and was nearly brought to tears when I heard this speech again: the "Yes We Can" Speech from President Obama during his first campaign. This was one of my favorite lines. Imagine that, nothing can stop "millions of voices," or try eight million voices calling for change in how we handle climate control. I'm not sure if I am quite up to date with laws and policies, but I am pretty sure that there are still no federal laws in most states in regards to carbon pollution from power plants (someone please check!!! It is such a good detail that I would like to include in the letter to the white house but I don't want to send in false information). These things add up. Though they may be nits and pieces, they snowball into a much larger and relevant portion that is sitting back in this fight against climate change. We are eight million voices people, eight million. That's more than loud enough to be heard. But we all know what the problem is. Our generation is nearly beyond oblivious or careless about the issue. I can email the link to this video to 100 people, I'll be lucky if ten or twelve actually take the time to watch it. There has to be more education over this issue, over what we can do as individuals to help the situation and what we can do as a nation to set the example. It all starts off very small, like right here at Montgomery College. Then we widen our circles, make it a ripple effect, because quite frankly, I'm tired of this bulls**t label of being a lazy generation that is always stuck on our iPhones and are unaware of the world around us and how we are losing it. Eight million voices, think about it. We can we not do?.... #LETSGOOOO #CONNECT4CLIMATE
We are all part of the 8 million! One person from that 8 million can make a difference. Lets strive to make a difference and a change. We are all part of this Earth, so why not do something about it. "Be the change you wish to see in the world." We should all live by that quote and inspire other people!
The title says it all. We are the power and only we can change the way our world is right now. Unless we want to stay in a world were we make the same mistake over and over again which isn't smart, we might as well start now. Change is key.
I found this video through Nadia Palacios. This video is well done, it really came together. I think it's so important for college students, the community leaders of tomorrow, to address this issue with a passion. I like that they incorporated ideas from Nelson Mandela.
All of us need to work together to make a change for our earth! The littlest things matter most. Not only will we clean the earth but we will be closer as a community. It is a must to make a difference for the better!
It's really motivating to have a proffessor who is always behind us and is making us take action to support this cause that most people choose to ignore. If we have more people like proffessor Sibilski we could be unstoppable. What we can do to make change happen is spread the word, share ideas on how we can make a change. Together we are the 8 million voices that must speak up and protect our home. If we don't who will? This video is a great source to share with others and hopefully decide to get up and go take action!!!
Before this class and all events i participated one week ago, i was not really conscious about how many people are taking consideration about the protection of environment. It is very pleasant to know World Bank or many organization are involving in the participation of climate change. That means everyone has a part of responsibility on the subject. Connect4climate is one of the issues we need to fight not only for protecting environment but also for reaching the goal of ending poverty in 2030.. We will not have a society if there is not an environment. Earth Day is coming. I hope everyone will be engage about the importance of the project in order to make the world a better place to live #right #now #together #letsdoit
To make a change , we need to start now ! I know all of us want a difference , so let's do it now ! We want to have a better future not only for us but for everyone that we are surrounding We need to start taking care or environment ! No matter if it's only a little bit of us , it's going to make a difference little by little. Let's not give up and let's start acting now and more rapidly !!
We must rise above and fix these climate problems. Education is the key to success, but we can not help and fight against climate change then what is left for the following generation and then the next START HERE START NOW!!!!!
"Nothing is impossible, the word in itself is 'IM POSSIBLE'" -- We CAN make it happen. As each day pass, we need to think twice about what we need to do in order to make a change and make the world a better place to live in. It is POSSIBLE.
One person cant do it all alone. The power of 8 million can change the world. Every big change starts with a small step. We can do it! Lets make a change!!
We are growing rapidly in numbers. Let's work with organizations that share the same views to spread the ideas across the globe. Stop procrastinating this is a crucial topic and nature isn't going to wait for us to argue!!!
Guys, sit back and look at where the numbers have gone on these two videos already... We couldn't have done any of this without the help of the UMD environment team and especially our professor. Lets be honest, without Professor Leszek Sibilski none of us would have known about this movement... We know how many likes the earth can get...LETS SEE HOW MANY DR. SIBILSKI CAN GET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS SO MUCH PROFESSOR AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!! leszek sibilski Leszek Sibilski
Montgomery college and all of us should make a change and continue what Mandela left off. we are the world. our children and their children's would have a healthier and better life with out pollution and destruction in the environment. I would do it for my daughters future life to come because as a mother I want her to have a world with out pollution and a healthy life.
People can buy portable solar powered electronic device chargers for $60. 2 hours under direct sunlight is enough time to charge an entire Lithium laptop battery, as opposed to 4.5 hours plugged into the wall....IMAGINE if every MC student did this for their electronic devices. WE WOULD MAKE A DENT IN COAL AND FISSION ENERGY, LOWERING THE CONSUMPTION IN DC BY SINGLE DIGET PERCENTAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! #connect4climate
We are all unique individuals and was given this great unique planet that is compatible to us! The question though is are we compatible to it? Are we taking care of our planet? Is our planet going to be livable for future generations? This is the time we are here now and we all have a voice lets use our voices and the influential people around us to make a difference! You and I can do this we are one in 3.6 billion lets get together and do this we are the voice power to the people we are the people!
I wish us (society) could start making a difference , and start caring more for our earth! Little by little it can make a difference so let's all start working together ! We can do this
We have to act on what we are doing that is hurting out society. And we got to focus on what we can do to change that. And will 8 million we can make a change
It's all about being concern about our future and the future of our kids.... We have to think of what is going to happen in the long run if we don't do anything thing about climate change right now. We are not being affected by it but people in other countries are seeing the consequences that we can't see or we don't want to see. Some people are just ignoring climate change, they are just waiting for some one else to act upon it. But if we start to act upon climate change others will follow. So we have to start watching on what we do that effects our world.
So lets respond to climate change. This video was simple yet very moving. The solutions called for are very complicated and difficult to achieve, but this video is right in calling for collective action to make these things happen. Kudos to the students who made this video possible.
We have to work together to make the planet a better place for us and the future generations. We need to put differences aside and unite for what will benefit all of us!
We are the future of the world. Community colleges are 8 million strong. That is more then Ivy League schools. We have to start the movement right here, right now
We change attitudes by starting with ourselves and then passing the baton by encouraging people around us to make a difference. Climate change is our problem, it’s about ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren. Protecting our environment is also a connection we make with our offspring, climate change is a significant social problem and will greatly affect future generations and we are in a constant quest for new inspiration and passion about what should be done to save Mother Earth.
As human beings, we are vulnerable to confusing the unprecedented with the improbable. In our everyday experience, if something has never happened before, we are generally safe in assuming it is not going to happen in the future, but the exceptions can kill you and climate change is one of those exceptions.
Happy late earth day! My wish is for everyone to help share the word more! We need to inspire everyone to want to change their habits and save the earth one person at a time.
This is a beautiful movement. The call for change is an amazing statement that our generation is making. Lets fix the mistakes that we have made in the past and make our future brighter not only for us but for the generations to come.
I wish that everyone will join forces with the 8million advocating for climate change, and make a huge difference in saving our planet. Happy Earth day in arrears!
It might be you, it might be me. It's important that we begin this journey to make our climate safer for ourselves and for our future generation. We must come together with other students and other people and collectively make a change and slowly but surely we can get the changes we deserve!
We have to start spreading awareness about climate change if we don't then it is predicted that by 1220 our sea level will be so night that our planet won't be able to sustain human life. If we want to keep living in this beutiful planet than we have to start changing our ways we are 8 million we can do it together!
It isn't impossible to make changes that will make our community better, all we need is a person with a vision and passion for what he or she believes in. It all starts with one person to take initiative, so that the rest follow and help out, because we are a team who need each other to make change. So lets start!!
We can't rely on president NObama to change things. We have to take our own action to make change. If one person did at least one thing environment friendly, the world would be a lot better place. #connect4climate
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead If society come together, we can change the world.
Happy Earth Day!! I know I'm a little late, but it was so good hearing people talk about Earth Day yesterday. I actually showed both videos to my friend which inspired her to make some changes. I wish that everyone would take on at least 2/3 tasks that help make the environment a lot better. if everyone did so, it would make a whole lot of a difference in our world. We need to keep sharing this video! the word will continue going out.
Earth day is soon to make its approach. April 22nd. Let's make a change to help make the environment a better place! Let's also stick to our plan. The glitchy weather that we've been having lately is actually the start of global warming. If we continue the careless acts that we're doing, we're soon not even going to know what seasons were having! It's our responsibility to look out for the earth and our future! #connect4climate #earthday #worldbank #climatechange
If you have to, ruin someone's day, but make sure that when they walk away pissed off, you made your point.... Tell them a fact that will make them want to turn their phone off until they get to work.... send chills up their spine...
Happy Earth Day! I wish there was no more hunger, drought, earthquakes, hurricanes nor landslides. I wish we were living in a peaceful place free from catastrophes that we humans created. Most of the horrible things that do happen are man-made. I wish we could stop it, stop looting our environment and start dreaming about a bright future.
Each of us has a part to play I have started my journey to save our planet why don't you, yes you join me in the fight against climate change spread the word lets all become an advocate for climate change!
Exactly. Our reliance on non-sustainable fossile fuels that run the global economy is not only destroying the enviroment but also lighting the fuse that may lead to the end of humanity.
A beautifully made video. It addresses the nation. It talks to everyone on a personal level. If we don't try to make a difference we are not leaving much of a future for our children. It is the responsibility of people living now to leave a better place for those that are not born yet. That is a responsibility of life. A goal every child is born with. We are also born with the responsibility to fix the mistakes our ancestors made. Lets work together for the future of our children and our children's children!
We have so many resources that we could use to help the environment around us yet we choose not to. We need to change some of our priorities and try to fit this in.
It is important to get the attention of the youth when it comes to this matter because we are the future of this earth. And without this earth there can be no future for us.
I wish everyone in the world had the same priorities regarding climate change. In a perfect world EVERYONE would work together and make it all better. Unfortunately, reality is different, but IT IS UP TO US to raise awareness, make noise, ignite a movement, educate the misinformed and prevail upon the skeptics. Timing is crucial so LET'S ACT NOW!
We 8 million people can join as a strong society to make the change that we need to make the earth a better planet for our future childrens . we want an earth healthy for us too!! because we are the ones that are going to start taking the next step to make the difference in the world. So come on people let's do it and not only saying it from teeth out. My change is making me feel great to help minimize the climate change. #mctv10
It is true we are the voice for future generations and in order to keep having future generations we have to make a change and save the planet. We shouldn't let our kids suffer for our mistake not to change.
we still haven't done much for the world, recycling isn't enough, its not just us in this earth, there is other people who don't know about climate change, we must educate them in it.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi Lets all be proactive and fight against climate change! If we all work together we can make a change!
The president spoke about climate change and if the president is taking a stand we should too. The community colleges have 8 million students and with 8 million we can accomplish many things if we just come together. You may think to yourself that you can't do anything or that you won't charge anything but the fact is you can. We are apart of a group that is 8 million strong. If we all do something we can help with the change on climate no matter how small you think the contribution is it still helps the cause for the fact that we are 8 million strong.
We can't make this problem disappear, we can only hope to slow it down to a stop, but that won't happen if people aren't willing to help out, even by doing little things like recycling.
Like Obama said " we the people .... Our obligations as Americans are not just to ourselves, but to all posterity" It's our obligations as people to take care of the earth, we can't just pretend like it's not there anymore. You can see it the weather, here in Maryland we had all 4 seasons in a week... Coincidence? I think not. It's our fault that the earth is the way it is. And now we have to put up with the consequences and they will keep coming if we don't do something about it.
There are a number of different forces which can influence the Earth's climate. When the sun gets brighter, the planet receives more energy and warms. When volcanoes erupt, they emit particles into the atmosphere which reflect sunlight, and the planet cools. When there are more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the planet warms. These effects are referred to as external forcings because by changing the planet's energy balance, they force climate to change
This video shows how we should help fight against climate change. If we all do something to help our environment we can make a change.
Thank you professor sibilski for taking the time to help make this all possible
As a nation let's all stand as one and heal our planet, PLANET EARTH !!!
Climate change is the challenge of our time. Each of us must recognize that the risks are personal..WE NEED TO ACT NOW
We as a community of students need to do whatever is necessary to make a change.
I am with you! we must act before it is too late.
yes we can make a huge difference as a group
I completely agree
Totally agree!
We all need to come up with way to make a change and make a difference
I want to make a change!!!! And help other know how to make a difference #Nelson Mandela
We must act together to fight climate change!
As human beings, we are vulnerable to confusing the unprecedented with the improbable. In our everyday experience, if something has never happened before, we are generally safe in assuming it is not going to happen in the future, but the exceptions can kill you and climate change is one of those exceptions.
- Al Gore
Happy late earth day! My wish is for everyone to help share the word more! We need to inspire everyone to want to change their habits and save the earth one person at a time.
LET'S GO MC RAPTORS! We can make a difference for future generations of MC!
This video is inspiring to make a change in how we view climate change.
Good to see Dr. Sibilski is still spreading the word on climate change.
Great video!
Vanessa
This is a beautiful movement. The call for change is an amazing statement that our generation is making. Lets fix the mistakes that we have made in the past and make our future brighter not only for us but for the generations to come.
Open our eyes and make a better way of living.
We can't always rely on the previous generation to do everything for us.
Let us take our first step and help make the world a better place!
Reflection 2: We! We are responsible for what happens on earth. Mother earth is calling, pick up, listen and act,,Together, we can save our world.
You ar right we can't. President Obama already made a start by making that speech. We need act now
Roslyn Douglas True Talk!
It is sad that we know that climate change is endangering our lives, our environment and even our future and yet, we do not do anything to stop it.
We can make the difference for future generations.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
If society come together, we can change the world.
“By the time we are convinced of the climate change impacts; there would be nothing we could do to help.” ― M.F. Moonzajer
If you have to, ruin someone's day, but make sure that when they walk away pissed off, you made your point.... Tell them a fact that will make them want to turn their phone off until they get to work.... send chills up their spine...
check out all my new posts and support of my classmates professor!! You've done something amazing!! I think it is starting to work!! #success
This video can be a springboard for change. This is a good first step, but far more can be done.
We need to act now in order to create a change in society.
The earth is not dying. Humans are killing it!!
Exactly. Our reliance on non-sustainable fossile fuels that run the global economy is not only destroying the enviroment but also lighting the fuse that may lead to the end of humanity.
They are right in the video when they say one person can make a change for it only takes one person to start a movement
Let this be our push to continue the revolution
A beautifully made video. It addresses the nation. It talks to everyone on a personal level. If we don't try to make a difference we are not leaving much of a future for our children. It is the responsibility of people living now to leave a better place for those that are not born yet. That is a responsibility of life. A goal every child is born with. We are also born with the responsibility to fix the mistakes our ancestors made. Lets work together for the future of our children and our children's children!
We've all got something to give to make a change. And if we take chances to change circumstances, just imagine what we can do.
I wish that we as a society can just really stop being so afraid to make a difference for the world. Something so little can impact the lives of many.
This is a very interesting video I'm glad that more and more people are beginning to recognize the global issue.
#mctv10
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead
i agreed our future only depend on us and our faith
Agree
Change is the key to saving our planet. If we want to live on this earth any longer we need to change now!
Hopefully, our generation contributes to save the world against climate change. Let's care for out planet by recycling and not littering.
It is true we are the voice for future generations and in order to keep having future generations we have to make a change and save the planet. We shouldn't let our kids suffer for our mistake not to change.
Our actions now can either hurt or help the generations to come. The choice is yours to decide what YOU can do.
Great video and it's awesome that the president addressed the issue of climate change
we still haven't done much for the world, recycling isn't enough, its not just us in this earth, there is other people who don't know about climate change, we must educate them in it.
"Be the change you wish to see in the world." - Mahatma Gandhi
Lets all be proactive and fight against climate change!
I wish that people would realize that what happens to the earth will have a effect on future generations and make a change to better our future.
I wish that one day we will all be able to work together to save our planet.
We can't make this problem disappear, we can only hope to slow it down to a stop, but that won't happen if people aren't willing to help out, even by doing little things like recycling.
I wish/hope that everyone embraces and participates in progressing the world and fight against climate change
One another and make this movement even more powerful
Like Obama said " we the people .... Our obligations as Americans are not just to ourselves, but to all posterity"
It's our obligations as people to take care of the earth, we can't just pretend like it's not there anymore.
