Thanks for making this video. I am a landscape designer, trying to get more familiar with designing native gardens in the north east US, so this was very informative. I just paused right at the part where you explain how you are using a loose symmetry in the design to compliment the natural style of this garden. I'm definitely going to use this more often, I avoid symmetrical designs typically, but there are many situations that call for it.
This is a great video. Just the right length and with photos of the plants together through the season. Would love a 2023 update as well as more videos like this.. smaller typical residential settings. Thanks!!
Thank you for sharing! I just posted a video today with a design example using Sundrops and the Green and Gold video has 3 design examples (both in landscape design playlist). I’ll be sure to add a 2023 update for this video and to make more videos focused on design vs the plant focus with design on the side.
Thoroughly enjoyed this episode thank you for including very helpful details beyond the actual planting, i.e. salt exposure, rabbits, etc. It's important to have all that background when designing your landscape!
This is perfect, love that it includes the planning, plugging, and what it looks like in real life! Especially since you made the follow-up too! Keep them coming.
Design is not one of my strengths so seeing this gave me ideas. I like how you used the same plants on each side just a different arrangement. Thx. Nice, short and clear video.
I live in Catonsville Maryland, and old little community outside Baltimore city. This landscape looks like what my husband would install. Oh we own a landscape company. I would love to stop or at the very least offer landscaping that is sustainable
I can attest to the salt hardiness of Oenothera pilosella adjacent to the road, albeit in WI rather than the northeast. As for plants adjacent to the driveway. I'd recommend selections that don't get as tall. Visibility when backing out is a thing. Speaking from personnel experience. Most ofmy front lawn has beeen replaced with mostly natives.
I enjoyed the video, loved seeing the progression after planting. One thing that would be helpful, and I might have missed, is a list of nurseries offering native plants by mail for consumers.
Thank you for the comment. I agree and I will start to compile a list for a future video. I know this is a pain point for everyone to have a plant in mind but not be able to find it anywhere.
Thank you for subscribing and the comment. I love the creative side of landscape design and making videos. I have a list of new designs to turn into videos once we wrap up spring work in a few weeks…
Thank you for watching and posting! I haven’t posted a new video in several months but I started creating a new video this weekend focused on 15 native plants with blue/ purple flowers /leaves… hope to have it posted in the next 1-2 weeks!
Nice video! Clear, and a good length. The design is versatile, and these plants are also native in my home state of Virginia. I would have used more spring bloomers (more Columbine, maybe Golden Alexander). Too much yellow! I like the purple asters and the columbine. Why not consider Spiderwort? Skullcap? Wild petunia (Ruellia)? Bee balm (Monarda)? Violets? Moss Phlox? Thanks for doing a great job.
Thank you for watching and for the comment. Your right, there are so many great natives to choose from. In this design I focused on salt tolerant plants knowing this development salts the roads in the winter and the potential for dog pee which narrowed the options. Phlox I don’t use in areas where there are deer and Monarda I use in areas where they can spread. I’ll be sure to make more design videos like the video I added today with Sundrops which includes a design example.
Man that bed was really ugly before. You did great ripping that crap out lol. It’s amazing how much more interesting native plant landscapes are compared to traditional design. We’ll done
Yeah, invasive exotics are near universal. Once you get into native plants you start to think most everyone's yard looks cheap and generic. You see the environmental harm and the total lack of pollinators on the blooms.
Thank you for watching. I’m going to add more design videos in the future. In the interim, check out Native Ground Cover That is Weed and Deer Resistant Includes 3 Design Examples ruclips.net/video/zACjEIUYFA0/видео.html for a shade example.
Thank you for sharing. Did they rebound the following year? I made a note in my design folder. There is very little info on what rabbits prefer to eat. I feel there is a hierarchy based on availability but no good documentation that I have found.

This is great. I've been working on my native garden for a few years now and want to add some more texture and structure. Those grasses look amazing
Wow what great pics and explaination! WITH a year later update!??!?! Subscribed!!!
LOVE this content. Please do this layout with deer-resistant plants too!

Very excited to see how full it gets this year! Impressed with how much growth you got in the first season
Thanks for your detailed explanation of the process. Exactly what I was looking for!

I love what you did, so gorgeous and well-planned :)
Thanks so much! 😊
What a nice video. I learned a lot about the process so that I can apply it even though I live in the north west.
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I love the creative process of making designs and making RUclips videos. More coming soon!

It looks amazing! I just posted one teaser picture to our Facebook page. I took photos this week and hope to have an update video posted tomorrow…

thank you for watching and thank you for the comment! Looking forward to visiting in April to see how everything is coming along!
I agree 100% I try to incorporate photos of all the insects and wildlife that visit these revitalized areas but too many too capture!
Good information but i need shade.
