I love how they highlighted the supposed ease of use somewhat subliminally with the scripted text at the bottom of the screen. Nice choice of music also. Had it been just a few years later, it probably would have had a cheesy studio pop instrumental.
I remember CompuServe fondly. Also BBS systems. I ran Wild Cat and a few others back in the day. News Groups... Now here I am... after learning MASM, DOS, Pascal, COBOL, RPG, Windows, Windows for Workgroups, Lan Manager, Paradox DOS & Windows, more versions of BASIC than I care to list. I've been on mainframes & Minis & Micros. Every kind of network imaginable. Installed the hardware and the software. Trained the end users, junior developers. On and on. Can't find work now. My bank accounts gone, retirement & pension gone. I was homeless for a while... at least I was homeless in Hawaii at the time. I'd rather still be homeless in Hawaii than living this miserable existence now.
Man that took a depressing turn. I know COBOL developers are still in demand due to antiquated systems used in the military. Not certain about the others
I hear you. Your passion was providing people with access to whatever they want. Now it’s time for you to say, hey what the heck do I want? Enjoy Aloha and Mahalo
Oh man, that was a trip down memory lane! Especially the footage from Arlington Centre Blvd. I sure miss that job.
I had so much fun and met so many new friends through the CompuServe CB Simulator back in the day.
