It’s what I also expected, people freaking out and seeing horrible shit all the time, with It feasting on as many as he could and keeping them distracted while he kidnapped the kiddos
The show is EXTREMELY well written. Even down to the theatre. In both IT films the theatre was focused on slightly but we never seem to know why. Now knowing that the theatre the losers club constantly walked past was the site of one of the most gruesome child murders in derry history makes those scenes hit DIFFERENT. The fact that Stanley uncle was one of the kids who died in that theatre makes the writing even better
@rowlaanbennett7296 i just hate the fact that somehow, The Losers Club members are somehow "destined" like some of their predecessors do. why cant we get another oldest guy/family from Derry? the city is quite big tho hehe... no offense for King's writing tho
@dan.driftwood I'd be fine with an 11.22.63 retcon so we can get the story about the Dunnings or Jake and just have them take place in this Derry's version of the late 50s/early 60s.
Since IT and the Mist came from Todash Space, the fog in WTD absolutely should have been The Mist. It would have been great to see that with his cage open, he could open a window into Todash Space, and even invite some of his buddies from his old stomping grounds.
I even feel like the dagger and shards creating “pillars” that make a barrier against dark entities make me wonder if they are shards of the dark tower that stabilize the universes and create barriers stopping dark entities from crossing over, they did say the shards are made of the comet Pennywise landed in, which could be from when he broke through those barriers and why he hates them.
I would like them to explore the spin off of doctor sleep of the vampires that were in it. Do story on how they became what they were, that would be good. In Doctor sleep Dick knew about them they could use his spin off where he battles them when he goes to england.
To be specific , the voice in the drain says I’m Veronica . That’s all they say , the other two names that are said both are first and last names . Patrick Hockstetter and Betty Ripson. Given by the fact that she’s called by her nickname throughout the series I’m not sure she would refer to herself as Veronica .
Yeah the writing was phenomenal, walking a very fine line between keeping studios happy by using the film universe, but soaking everything thick with book references. The last episode it started to all go a bit Stranger Things, overuse of shaky CGI (floating blood, head explosions), overexplaining things for Second Screeners (spit), the General turning into a moron (because he has to die by hubris, can't allow one of our heroes to sully themselves by putting a fucking bullet in his head). Felt like it was more condescending and out of pacing with the rest of the writing and felt the grip of the studio on the writer's pens.
I watch this on Christmas morning, not in the best of moods. It cheered me up immensely. Also, I have a headache because Uncle Stevie's macroverse is dizzying. But nonetheless, happier. I smiled when you mentioned the Storm of the Century easter eggs. I hoped you would. Great video.
I'm so glad storm of the century was mentioned, especially with the line that was dropped in welcome to derry. Thanks for confirming that, but I also heard that the little boy from dark tower was the guy from shutter Island, because he lost his mind after the dark tower. I wonder if that's true? But I'm glad they linked the multiverses together though. 😊🎉
Just a random thought with the whole branding and knowing what universe theyre in. On the last episode towards the end when they have a shot of Derry from their hangout spot. There is a coca cola painted on a wall so idk what that would imply lol
At the end of Welcome to Derry you can see a Coca-Cola Billboard on one of the buildings when they're looking out from their hideout. So maybe its just product placement or they are in our reality
The gymnasium scene in Episode 8 is a nod to Stephen Kings other book CARRIE where the bullies and the school get killed in the gymnasium. Nice little detail there, Andy!
its probably a small and insignificant detail but i was wondering about the clubhouse from part 2, like this kid just found a big ass hole in the ground thats deep enough for them to stand build structures in. its one of the holes from the military searching for artifacts
Can't speak for Chapter 2 but in the books it (like the dam) is another example of Ben's proficiency with architecture. A normal band of kids would have been killed the first time it rained or the soil dried out and changed it's sheer strength, but Ben knew his stuff with regards to structural engineering. Just as Eddie had the internal compass of a racing pigeon, and Mike was a master historian. They each had their talents.
I was thinking both the mists in Welcome to Derry & The Mist were thinnies (especially w/ that one man w/ what I can only describe as rat-lookimg facial features grinning at the window b/c I was certain that was a low man on that time voyeur catastrophe ish)
The coke thing doesn't make sense because they had a drink coca cola mural on one of the buildings that's clearly visible in the end scene of the final episode
Another possible nod to the 'Dark Tower' series: War chief Sesqui's bear headdress. Each of the Tower's Beams has a Guardian at each end. The Beam that Roland and his ka-tet follow is guarded by Maturin on one end. The Guardian on other end is Shardik, a bear. I 100% could be reaching, but Sesqui's headdress could've been anything - a wolf, eagle, buffalo, etc. Yet, it was a bear. I wonder if this means Derry sits on the Shardik-Maturin (Bear-Turtle) Beam? Possibly? But if not, that's a hell of a coincidence.
Shardik, the book by Richard Adams, features the bear-guardian of the Beam. King mentions Adams' most famous work, Watership Down, in a few of his novels, including The Stand (Stu Redman loves the book :))
OMG, thank you so so much for this video... Wow there's so much!! As I was watching, I had a" jaw drop" moment when Dick said he was going to go work at a hotel... !?!? 😁 And BTW, The MIST '07 is possibly my favorite Stephen King movie of all time 🍿🎬 (they should have just called it the mist) 🤣🫶🏼
So after the finale of Welcome to Derry, I came up with a weird theory. It ultimately comes down to all the forms of It we've seen in media (book, miniseries and current timeline movies and shows) are all technically from the same continuity. So if time is something fluid for pennywise and the losers club is always fated to kill pennywise, I think he's always been adjusting the timeline to prolong his death. That's why there are inconsistencies between the book, miniseries and current stuff are all slightly different, but the losers club always beats him. The fact that he dies in the 80s in the books but around 2010 in the current movies: pennywise adjusted the timeline to give him more time on earth. This way, while we feel good that he's beaten in the end, the existential horror of every ending is he always wins too. Killing him now isn't enough. You have to kill him through all of time and that's not something humans can do. This could also explain how pennywise is still alive in other King books. He's altered the timeline by the time those books take place so while he may have died in the 80s in one book, he might still be alive in the 90s in Dreamcatcher or something. Like I said, weird theory, but I'm full of those so please don't hate me if you disagree with it. My brain likes to overthink trivial stuff.
Don't ever apologize for a mind like yours. Without people like you, we wouldn't have stories like the works of Stephen King. It is a gift and a not too common one.
Well you did a great job on this video a lot better than Eric Voss from new rockstars. He tends to get a lot of stuff wrong and you were at least maybe 100% correct on everything
@larrygooden9162 Last I saw/heard, Mike Flanagan (who did 'Doctor Sleep,' 'The Haunting of Hill House,' and 'Midnight Mass' among other things) is supposed to be working on another 'Dark Tower' adaptation.
I even theorized and double-checked everything aaaaaand: if Andy Muschietti really wants to go full on with the cross-references from other Stephen King works, he could also potentially bring the "True Knot" into the "Welcome to Derry" story in Season 2 or 3 before the events from Doctor Sleep. If you really think about it; they could feel the fear from all the children in derry, which would produce amounts of steam for them. This could in the end also lead into a clash or territorial war between them and the galloo. Just a thought experiment for a storyelement/component for the other seasons that will come.
Ka-tet seems to be a power “it” is scared of, I believe the kids friendships are a form of a ka-tet. As close to a ka-tet that can form in the keystone world.
Spin off idea. Make a show called the overlook and have Halloran deal with the Overlook and all ghosts including Jack and the spirit of the hotel. At least 4-6 seasons easy
All in all i say we agree that it confirms that fact that IT,randall flag and others most of the sentient monsters of stephen king novels exist outside space and time they are omnipresent not fully omniscient or omnipotent but still OP the mist shown in the novel movie and WTD comes from the todash space it’s objective is the same to spread panic paranoia and fear sort of like pennywise decided to expand his domain to guarantee hit every one in derry with fear same as THE MIST does but with monster from the todash space it also means that the pillars caging him in derry are also suppressing his full powers and he can unleash even worse then what we have seen in the WTD seriously movies didn’t do pennywise justice But the show made full use to portray how a creature like pennywise a cosmic predator hunts stalks and preys on his victims with maximum effect nay his powers are suppressed cause of the pillars caging him this just my opinion and perspective on him and the mist
I think it would be awesome if they had or somebody else made what happens with dick holleron from the end of the show to not far away from The shining
I usually downvote and block anything IGN related on principal, but you won me round. After the coke triple pun I happily changed my reflex downvote to an upvote. Very well put together video essay, great writing and editing, discounting the first two minutes. They don't deserve you, hope you find your own channel like Ryan George did when he pulled loose from the talent vampires at Screen Rant.
Maybe I’m not thinking this through but if the show takes place in the 60s and the movie takes place in the 80s, how are the characters already old and have kids already? They would still be adult adults I’m confused.
I’m starting to think the only reason for the 27 year cycle is so Derry can forget and repopulate a few generations worth. If Pennywise wasn’t trapped he would probably eat more and sleep longer.
It is disappointing that the fog doesnt connect to the Mist. It would had brought a better connection with the military’s involvement
@Dante-Balisk amen! I had the same thought.
It’s what I also expected, people freaking out and seeing horrible shit all the time, with It feasting on as many as he could and keeping them distracted while he kidnapped the kiddos
nah nothing could make the military plot look any better lol
The director confirmed it. It was a nod
Well fog is ghost thing and the mist is a science fiction....how would/could they specifically connect?
I do appreciate the continuation of the overall story of basically all King books, its great.
I feel they may retcon that statement about the mist not being "the mist"
Dick has to be my favorite character now.
I loved him dr sleep and the shining. Glad we’re seeing more of his character
i somehow forget The Shining plus never watch Dr. Sleep.
i think i gotta go to run those movies after WTD tho. i love King's stories atm!
@dan.driftwood Doctor Sleep pays homage in subtle ways to both the book and the movie "The Shining." Great world building also.
@rowlaanbennett7296 i just hate the fact that somehow, The Losers Club members are somehow "destined" like some of their predecessors do. why cant we get another oldest guy/family from Derry? the city is quite big tho hehe...
no offense for King's writing tho
It plays into the core theme of familial + cultural trauma cycles and stress-based imprinting a lot better than the movies.
@dan.driftwood I'd be fine with an 11.22.63 retcon so we can get the story about the Dunnings or Jake and just have them take place in this Derry's version of the late 50s/early 60s.
@rowlaanbennett7296 Richie Tozier, his mother’s overprotective was it all makes sense.
@damienroy5846 I thought Eddie's mom was over protective, not Richie's? Or am I mixed up?
Getting the feeling the show is going to show some timey-wimey stuff about why he even has a 27 year cycle
Since IT and the Mist came from Todash Space, the fog in WTD absolutely should have been The Mist. It would have been great to see that with his cage open, he could open a window into Todash Space, and even invite some of his buddies from his old stomping grounds.
he? you mean IT?
I even feel like the dagger and shards creating “pillars” that make a barrier against dark entities make me wonder if they are shards of the dark tower that stabilize the universes and create barriers stopping dark entities from crossing over, they did say the shards are made of the comet Pennywise landed in, which could be from when he broke through those barriers and why he hates them.
Thank you...
. You are the only other person, besides myself, pointing out the "Storm of the Century" Easter eggs.
Born in sin? Come on in!
I would like them to explore the spin off of doctor sleep of the vampires that were in it. Do story on how they became what they were, that would be good. In Doctor sleep Dick knew about them they could use his spin off where he battles them when he goes to england.
@kellyhill6414 that could be great. Even a little like Buffy, but with better storytelling and real horror.
You think you slick with that sniff😂
I like that welcome to Derry is for Stephan King book fans more than fans of the the It movies

The Shining with Dick Halloran stuck out too!
I'm waiting to see if Ralph White ever shows up.
Imagine a proper Stephen King shared universe, he needs his own studio
Then…..so the Coca Cola sign at the end means something? It’s a different timeline/world?
When the last pillar is placed by the tree, it forms the dreamcatcher. That was a nice touch.
What a superb video, great editing, research and execution
Just a random thought with the whole branding and knowing what universe theyre in. On the last episode towards the end when they have a shot of Derry from their hangout spot. There is a coca cola painted on a wall so idk what that would imply lol
The background music in this video is way too damn loud
@562bloo Darn kids these days. Listening to music that's way too loud. You got pesky kids on your lawn too?
At the end of Welcome to Derry you can see a Coca-Cola Billboard on one of the buildings when they're looking out from their hideout. So maybe its just product placement or they are in our reality
Before the Black spot burns down, Rich orders two cokes as well.
Great catches (the billboard and Rich ordering two Cokes!)
I've been trying to see the connection throughout Stephen king's universe and there was not that much info from others until now
The gymnasium scene in Episode 8 is a nod to Stephen Kings other book CARRIE where the bullies and the school get killed in the gymnasium. Nice little detail there, Andy!
I felt so silly for leaving that on the table 🤣. Nice one.
This is the show that stranger things thinks it is
10:03 I don't understand how it was a retcon when he was already locking things away since a child? PW opened the box he already had 🤔
its probably a small and insignificant detail but i was wondering about the clubhouse from part 2, like this kid just found a big ass hole in the ground thats deep enough for them to stand build structures in. its one of the holes from the military searching for artifacts

Aaaaaand you talked about todash right after I made my previous comment lol
Book readers, did you recognise the “good friends” quote during Richie’s funeral?
Anyone see the Byers stores around Derry👀
I was thinking both the mists in Welcome to Derry & The Mist were thinnies (especially w/ that one man w/ what I can only describe as rat-lookimg facial features grinning at the window b/c I was certain that was a low man on that time voyeur catastrophe ish)
Long days and pleasant nights gunslinger.
"Let us know what we missed (Mist)* Nice!
I can't believe so soon after "haven't the foggiest", I doubled up on another pun and DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT 🤣😭
I bet you they won’t call it the mist because they haven’t bought that property from King and they can’t use it without paying him more
The coke thing doesn't make sense because they had a drink coca cola mural on one of the buildings that's clearly visible in the end scene of the final episode
Exactly, I caught that as well.
Another possible nod to the 'Dark Tower' series: War chief Sesqui's bear headdress. Each of the Tower's Beams has a Guardian at each end. Oooooh I like this
I need to rewatch and see what totems they buried the other bits of meteorite in, if any. Only the turtle jumped out at me
Yep, this feels right to me! Wish I'd gotten that in here!
Shardik, the book by Richard Adams, features the bear-guardian of the Beam. King mentions Adams' most famous work, Watership Down, in a few of his novels, including The Stand (Stu Redman loves the book :))
11:35 TSUKUYOMI 👁️ 👁️
I really loved the lore! Excited for the next season!
OMG, thank you so so much for this video... Wow there's so much!! As I was watching, I had a" jaw drop" moment when Dick said he was going to go work at a hotel... !?!? 😁
And BTW, The MIST '07 is possibly my favorite Stephen King movie of all time 🍿🎬 (they should have just called it the mist) 🤣🫶🏼
Whoever edited this video, LOOK HERE!!!! Background sounds are supposed to be in the background.
I love the reference throughout the season where it is mentioned that in Derry no one ever truly dies, which is a reference to pet cemetery
So after the finale of Welcome to Derry, I came up with a weird theory. It ultimately comes down to all the forms of It we've seen in media (book, miniseries and current timeline movies and shows) are all technically from the same continuity.

This is probably one of the best fan theories I ever seen tbh
Don't ever apologize for a mind like yours. Without people like you, we wouldn't have stories like the works of Stephen King. It is a gift and a not too common one.
The shirt dick wears when he leaves is a kaleidoscopic version of the shining hotel’s carpet 😊
More!!!
Well you did a great job on this video a lot better than Eric Voss from new rockstars. He tends to get a lot of stuff wrong and you were at least maybe 100% correct on everything
The video I been waiting for
I made a video of all of Will & Ronnie scenes
I hope they bring back dark tower live action whether it's tv series or movie again
@oliverparker3000 Mike Flanagan has a series in development.
ONLY if they do it right and it is quite good.
That movie they put out with Idris Alba in it was an abomination.
@larrygooden9162 Last I saw/heard, Mike Flanagan (who did 'Doctor Sleep,' 'The Haunting of Hill House,' and 'Midnight Mass' among other things) is supposed to be working on another 'Dark Tower' adaptation.
If the do Andy Muschietti needs to do it since he clearly understands/respects the lore & source material
The Stephen King universe has existed since the 70's and it seems this show created a lot of interst in it that didn't seem to exist before.
26 seconds damn
I even theorized and double-checked everything aaaaaand:
if Andy Muschietti really wants to go full on with the cross-references from other Stephen King works, he could also potentially bring the "True Knot" into the "Welcome to Derry" story in Season 2 or 3 before the events from Doctor Sleep.

This is absolutely insane. King is a genius
16:11 - Not cool, bro. The man's been clean for decades.
Here is my contribution: Lily’s Dad was killed in very similar circumstances to those killed in the King short story, “The Mangler”. Great video!
Wish they had done his head in practical. The bad CGI on the diced tentacle head was a little distracting, only a very minor nitpick.
13:15 There are total 13 pillars that cage Pennywise not 12
@Shaanscorp it was but now it’s 12
@collintheone1927how?
@Shaanscorp The military literally burned one in the 7th episode, waking up from hibernation to escape derry
12:33 hey, I'm one of the two people!
We're well met on the path.
So he was wrong! THERE ARE ACTUALLY 3 OF US! D'ya kennit?
@LyleStyle874 of us 😁
Ka-tet seems to be a power “it” is scared of, I believe the kids friendships are a form of a ka-tet. As close to a ka-tet that can form in the keystone world.
You get a sub from me just for the coke "sniff" pun!
This was a pretty funny video
That’s funny they used what Stephen king said in chapter 2 and had the character say it in welcome to derry
Spin off idea. Make a show called the overlook and have Halloran deal with the Overlook and all ghosts including Jack and the spirit of the hotel. At least 4-6 seasons easy
Stephen King… the living legend!
9:03 nice censorship here 😂
The soda thing you mentioned doesn't make sense; there's a Coca-Cola advert on the building in Derry and they're drinking Fizza-la Cola.
Was it just me who thought that there was a glimpse of Michael Duncan's character from the Green Mile when Dick begins to see dead people again?
Naw Green Mile takes place in Louisiana, not Maine.
Are you talking about John Coffey?
Everything is always connected to The Dark Tower, times a wheel, and we are just on one spoke.
0:30 yo sybau
I think it would be awesome if they had or somebody else made what happens with dick holleron from the end of the show to not far away from The shining
Technically it's a prequel, but it's also a sort of sequel.
KEEP THIS SHOW ALIVE
Hold up there is a coca cola sign on a building so that must mean that welcome to derry is our world.
Hope they make a modern adaptation of The Shining
The shining is pretty perfect already though, even if it"s different from the book
No
Bro, that droning sound in the background is WAY too loud omg, I literally can't even finish watching the vid!
Hoping they will make “IT” first time reaching on earth….
I wish to see like “Land Before time Dinosaurs VS “IT””…..
I’d love to see Dwight Renfield (the night flier) and Pennywise meet face to face.
The concept that the dead are not really dead and the burial ground was also a kind of throw to let sematary
17:11 this was my favorite reference. I love Storm of the Century.
I'm just here to see how the stuff links to The Dark Tower without having to watch it 🤷♂️
Those pillars should've been brought a little closer together. Just sayin.
Cats eye
Tbh penny wise killed the guy I don’t think it was suicide Remember the message it left on the mirror
It can change the middle amd future by changing the past ! How penny was even defeated ! She can change that in the past
Shhhhhh we can pretend it’s the mist we can pretend
How is it a multiverse?
I'm sorry, but i cant watch this video. The music in the background is very annoying. You cant hear what the narrator is saying.
No wonder Stan chose the "self termination" option... His dad was probably like "You wanna end up like your Uncle Teddy!?!?.. " 😂😂😂
Fog would probably make more sense but whatever
18:22 is that coke?
@allanloydpacete6745 damn. I guess It is real in our reality. I say we sacrifice this guy ^^
Welcome to Derry > It 1 & 2
I hope they show pennywise bumping into Duddits and Mr.Gray
@NotAvailable-m3o you’re telling me that pennywise who inhabited Bob Gray and Mr. Robert Gray aren’t the same person?
@cawknbawz Nono in dreamcatcher Duddits and Mr.Grey are two other aliens that reside in Derry
Marge being Richie’s mother isn’t an Easter egg, it’s a plot point. There’s a difference.
pennywise has simple fetish of eating peoples faces. is there a face on my face?
Maybe I’m not thinking this through but if the show takes place in the 60s and the movie takes place in the 80s, how are the characters already old and have kids already? They would still be adult adults I’m confused.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wait.. so IT has Infinity stones😆😆
I’m starting to think the only reason for the 27 year cycle is so Derry can forget and repopulate a few generations worth. If Pennywise wasn’t trapped he would probably eat more and sleep longer.
🤍🖤❤️🩹🤘🏼😍🥰❤️🔥👑🐐
