Few songs have such intense meaning AND great musicianship.

This album holds so many memories me as well and this song is just amazing. I haven't heard it in 30 years for sure. I'm finding myself in tears. Room Full of Mirrors rocks.

Revisitng this album after 31 years......can hardly believe it's that long ago. This song and album meant so much to me then and those feelings flood back in an instant listening now.

Love it. "Get Close" was yet another brilliant album by the brilliant Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders .

There are some really heartfelt tender songs on the Get Close album. Chrissie could obviously be "in your face" but also had this other side. Simply a beautiful song.

I agree. When you see and listen to her singing early Pretenders "in your face" as you say, then hear this song, I think it makes the song that much more powerful and heartfelt.

Great song! I think the version on the Pirate Radio boxed set is the best version.

If I recall right it was Robbie McIntosh on Lead guitar

A very personal song that seems it could only be written from experience. Wonder if it was as from her experience?

what's the Guitar used on this song and does any one know the chords used in the arpeggio

Robbie McIntosh and Chrissie Hynde both play Telecasters. The C - D bridge is just different forms of the chords, the first C is up the neck where the 3d is the top note, like moving a standard D chord up the neck, then I bet you can figure it out from there. It's a very cool and smart use of the progression, and what a kickass song period. Worthy question.

Fantastic album and take it from a pro. I cover the sht out of a bunch of The Pretenders. Carlos Alomar on this, Bernie Worrell on the releaase (actually to get away from Chrissie was a blessing in disguise), and so on.
