MM was the most comprehensive farm equipment manufacturer. They made combines, shellers, all variety of tillage equipment, stationary engines, and tractors. They invented the Jeep, the unitractor, the first factory cab tractors (1938). They were the leader in LP fueled tractors. In 1950 they were a larger farm equipment manufacturer than John Deere. Unfortunately after that date poor management replaced the visionary CEO who created the company from 3 others. It was eventually sold to White trucking and that company eventually phased out all MM labeled lines. The remants are now owned by AGCO.
MM was larger than John Deere in the very early years .. Allis Chalmers was Larger then Deere in the 1940's after inventing the All Crop Harvester .. @Rick Laleman
What a wonderful story! Are you related to the Laleman families in south western Minnesota? You should check out a RUclips channel Squatch253. He has some experimental MMs.
The Minnesota Lalemans are distant relatives who immigrated at a different time from my family. We all have a common Belgian ancestor. I have been following Squatch253 as he restores the prototype 445.
I was brought up on Farmall and Case tractors. I have a Yanmar Diesel compact tractor now but would like to buy any brand of tractor and restore it. I am not particular to any brand. I like them all!
Great video thank you for sharing it .
