To the person who recorded this. THANK YOU! I happened to stumble upon this performance a few days ago and it brought me to tears. This song is soulful and sad, beautiful and healing. Pat and Train you are wonderful. Keep making this kind of wonderful music. I cannot thank you enough for this song.
I'm amazed everytime I hear him live (I've seen Train about 5 times, and Pat on his solo tour once) He did Always Midnight completely acapella and without a mic, it was beautiful, so glad I got a video of it. When he does it, his voice can easily bring tears to my eyes with his songs. So beautiful, can't wait to see them again this summer (it's been 2 years! too long)

Pat has the voice of an angel. Have seen this and shared before but gets me everytime! brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful.....him and his voice. Saw them a couple times and probably one of my best experiences ever. So much involvement with the audience and genuine, kind, FULL of heart and soul.
I am in a rabbit hole somewhere in youtube and I took a turn and stumbled upon THIS! I was there that night, up the back of the Enmore and was completely gob smacked in awe of Pat's vocals with this song and I think everyone else was the same given how quiet they were! Thank You! Can't wait to see some live music soon!!!!!

I saw this video some time ago. I was so emotionally struck by the emotion from this performance I cried. AMAZING!! What a performer but at the same time it comes from within. It's like we, as the audience, can FEEL the lyrics. Such charisma and emotion oozes from this man! Just...WOW!

Thank you so much for this video. I love the smoke behind him, it makes the song look as amazing as he sings it. Pat Monahan has one set of lungs, and this is the perfect song to demonstrate it. Thank God for Pat Monahan. He is what all professional singers SHOULD be. In my opinion, if you are getting paid to sing as your life's profession, you have certain responsibilities, namely, to your fans. Pat sings well in the studio, but even BETTER live. This is what we, the fans, should expect when buying tickets to see them in person.
I have lost a little bit of love for quite a few singers I used to idolize when I went to see them live. I've seen people missing and/or dodging some or all of their big notes that they are known for, and in some cases I've seen them sing less that half the song, just walking around, lazily jamming on their guitars. I've seen too much lip-syncing and auto-tuning, and it saddens me greatly that the majority of pro singers are like this nowadays.
+1 this if you agree that Pat Monahan is one of the very few models of the way professional singers should be.

@EXstormDragon yes its for one of his best friends, or his very best friend who took his own life a few years ago; as far as i know the guy had an accident at work (he used to paint houses and stuff together with pat before pat became famous with train) and had to go to surgery so many times and had to endure so much pain and lived more on painkillers than on anything else.
but this video has the best audio and video quality by far on youtube of when i look to the sky!!

its not acapella if you have a piano....
