Thanks for these (most educational) videos - as a Jeti newbie I would have been a long time sorting out my setup without your help. I think the move from Futaba to Jeti will be well worth the time spent learning their system.

Assuming you can do the flight mode switch and we disable Steering gain in the fl mode where you normally have the gear up?

Hello Harry, been following all episodes setting up a REX10 Assist. Everything works perfectly except for the nosewheel gyro and flight mode switching on/off of the gyro on the gear switch. The Assist does switch between flight mode 1 and 3 om the gear switch through. The nosewheel steering works perfectly. The channel in use is ch. 9. Any idea why I fail to get the gyro working on the nosewheel and thus the switching the gyro on/off doesn't work on the gear switch ?
    Thanks Harry. Best regards.

Not sure I have understood you properly. Are you wanting gyro on the steering which is on when gear is down and off when gear is up? I assume that when gear is up you have disabled the steering itself. When you do the control assignments, the steering must be working for the Assist to see that channel is moving then the gyro will work on steering. If you assign the control with the gear up or steering otherwise disabled, the steering channel will not move so Assist will not work on it

@@cotswoldpilot sorry for my English and thank you very much for answering.
The problem is, when I follow your setup videos, everything works according to these, except for gyro on the nosewheel steering channel. Only this channel is workout the gyro. This both with gear down and gear up. Again according to this episode.
Everything has been setup while following video 1 to 6 for now.
      Thanks for your time, Harry.
      Best regards from Denmark

@@michaelbuchreitz4927 the gyro will work the steering. It needs to see the steering move a reasonable amount when you assign the rudder control. If the steering travel is a very small % it might ignore it. Also make sure in the mode settings that you have not disabled steering in both modes.

I have a question for you Harry. I followed all the videos through episode 6, and also your nose leg steering video. In Assist episode 6 you show how you disable nose steering by the gyro when the gear is retracted by changing the Flight Mode switch to be the Gear Switch. That would be fine if you were only using two gyro modes, but in my case I'd like to still have access to 3 gyro modes. I'm using a DS-12, and prefer to use a three position switch for the flight modes with the first position being gyro off. I then still have two switch positions for two gyro modes. However editing the flight mode to make the Gear switch change modes limits to two, and hence I don't have the ability to have all three flight modes as I must reserve one switch position for gyro off. Is there another way in Jeti to approach stopping gyro to still control the nose gear when it is retracted without limiting yourself to only two gyro mode choices? Would it be through logical switches? Thank you for all your videos and assistance.

I am not sure that either of us understand what you want! You have 3 modes to choose from but if you want to use one of those modes as OFF you can only have 2 modes for stabilisation. If you want one mode with steering and one mode without, that is your two remaining modes used. If you want to have all 3 modes as active stabilisation you can but you need to use the separate gyro on/off switch feature.

@@cotswoldpilot I'll try to clarify. First, I'm using the DS-12 (so I don't have as many switches as you do on your example using the DS-16). I've followed your videos all the way successfully to Eps 6 with the one difference is I don't use a separate master gyro on/off switch. Instead, I use just one three position switch for gyro with Mode 1 being off, then Mode 2, and a Mode 3 gyro. I've also setup the nose gear steering using your method from the noseleg steering video. All works fine at this point with the one issue that you discuss about 6 1/2 minutes into the video that the nose gear steering while disabled with the model sitting on the bench, but when you wiggle the plane the gyro yaw causes the steering gear to respond. You then show editing the Fl mode channel (which was assigned to your three position SG switch) and assigning the control to the two position gear switch which then drops the redundant gyro M2, and leaves you with M1 and M3. In your example you had Normal Dampening for M1,M2,M3 so they were all the same, no issue, and a separate master On/Off gyro switch. In my case I have been using one three position switch to have three actual gyro modes M1= Off, M2= Normal Dampening, M3= Trainer. (Some of us like having that M3 Trainer mode as a bank leveling during times of the year like now when we have the sun behind the plane which can lead to loss of orientation in turns....panic mode.) So my question and problem that I would like to solve is how to disable the gyro nose gear steering when the gear is retracted and still retain a 3-position gyro mode switch with M1= Off, M2= Normal Dampening, M3= Trainer? Would logical switches be a way to solve this?

@@philrichardson3524 you are asking for 4 modes - off, steering working, steering not working, trainer.

@@cotswoldpilot I did not view steering not working as a gyro mode because whether the gyro was in Off, Normal, or Trainer (AND) the gear is retracted only in that retracted gear position I don't want gear to steer. I would hope to accomplish not having the gear steering servo chatter in reaction to yaw when the gear is retracted. I tried a few more things but did not seem to accomplish that outcome. I've tried to setup two Flight Modes which are Ground & NormalFly. I went into the NormalFly Flight Mode which would be with the gear retracted and then setup a Function for the Steering with a constant value. I would have thought that would cause any gyro yaw to result in no change or neutral position for the steering servo. However so far that did not work. I'd like to figure this out but also accept that with the gear retracted even when the servo is steering the mechanical linkage is such that the wheel does not actually move--so it could be a tolerable condition (just eats a little battery unnecessarily). Thank you for all your help. FYI, we are in Northern California and even though we can fly all year round, yesterday was a day (albeit cold) that during one flight most of us were finding the cold hazy sky so limited in contrast making orientation difficult. Having the trainer mode was nice to flip on and go into the circuit to land knowing you couldn't over bank the plane. Everything back in one piece, live to fly another day in better conditions.

@@philrichardson3524 you're confusing transmitter settings with gyro settings. If the gyro has been told to work on a servo then it will do so regardless of what transmitter settings you change e.g. dual rates, fx curves etc. You can enable and disable stabilisation per each servo in different Assist modes, but changing the Tx travels won't change what the gyro does.

Hello Harry, I made an observation when I was moving my model around on top of my work surface with the Assist turned on and it seems like the Assist is giving the opposite surface movement than what I would expect. For instance, if I pitch the airplane's nose downward, then the Assist adds more Down Elevator. Is it supposed to work like that? If so, please try to explain why it makes sense. I would think that if the airplane is pitching downward then the Assist would try to add Up Elevator, not Down Elevator. Thank you for your help with my question.

I have the same REX7 Assist receiver in two airplanes with different receiver orientations so they can’t both be wrong. I’m a pretty careful when following instructions and I set the Transmitter and receiver up with your video in front of me. Also, I have been flying the Ultra-stick with the assist on for 6 months and it appears it’s working correctly because my maneuvers like a reverse Cuban 8 don’t require as much down elevator to maintain the 45 degree inverted climb as with the Assist turned off. Keep in mind that the amount of surface deflection I see when I do this bench test is very small, only 5mm. When you moved your plane in the nose down position in your Assist Mode Switching Video your Elevator deflected upward quite a bit. It could be my test isn’t really a good test. I obviously don’t understand something about what I’m seeing when I test it in my shop as described.
